1. Carefully read this user guide before starting or using this machine, and
before performing unscheduled/routine maintenance or any other work
on or with the machine.
Ensure full compliance with all instructions provided in this
user guide and in those for batteries and battery chargers
(paying particular attention to warnings and danger notices).
The manufacturer will not be held responsible for injuries to
persons or damage to property due to non-compliance with the
aforementioned instructions.
2. This machine is designed for use on indoor hard oors only.
3. Do not use charger if the cable is damaged. Contact Vax Commercial
Careline: (UK) 0330 026 4275.
4. The machine should only be used by personnel who have received
appropriate training.
5. To avoid unauthorised use, keep the machine in a place that denies access to
unauthorised personnel when not being used.
6. This commercial appliance should not be used by those under 13 years and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
The machine should not be used without the appropriate training.
7. Do not operate this machine for any other purpose except for the use for
which it was specically designed. Evaluate the type of building where it will
be used and comply with the current safety regulations and conditions.
8. Do not use the machine in places without adequate lighting, in explosive
environments, when harmful dirt is present (dust, gas, etc.), on roads or
public passageways and in outdoor environments in general.

9. The machine operating temperature range is +4°C to +35°. When not being
used, store the machine in a dry and non-corrosive environment within a
temperature range of between + 10°C and +50°C. When using the machine
under any condition the humidity must range between 30% and 95%.
10. Only Vax Commercial recommended detergents, tools and accessories
should be used with this machine.
11. Never use or vacuum liquids, gases, dry dust, acids and solvents
(e.g. paint thinners, acetone, etc.), even if diluted.
12. Never use or vacuum inammables or explosives (e.g. petrol,
fuel oil, etc.), or aming or incandescent objects.
13. Do not block or cover any openings.
14. Do not remove, modify or bypass the safety devices.
15. The appropriate Personal Protective Equipment should be worn to
operate the machinery and protect the user. This should be in
accordance with an appropriate risk assessment prior to its rst use.
16. Before starting work, remove necklaces, watches, ties and other objects that
may cause serious injuries if caught.
17. Do not insert hands between moving parts.
18. Do not use detergents that dier from those recommended and follow the
instructions indicated on the chemical’s relevant safety sheets.
19. The clean water tank should only be lled with warm water (max 40°C).
Filling the clean water tank with hot or boiling water may damage your
machine and invalidate your warranty.
20. Follow all storage, disposal and safety instructions for each individual,
or group of detergents, as listed on the product packaging.

21. Make sure that the battery charger power sockets are connected to an
ecient earthing system and that they are protected by magneto thermal
and dierential circuit breakers.
22. Follow the battery manufacturer’s instructions and comply with safety
instructions and legal provisions. The batteries should always be clean
and dry to avoid surface leakage currents.

CAUTION: The battery used in this device may present a risk of re or
chemical burn if mistreated. Do not disassemble or heat above manufacturer’s
maximum temperature limit (60° C/140°F) or incinerate. Replace battery with
Vax battery only. Use of another battery may present a risk of re or explosion.
Dispose of used battery promptly. Keep away from children. Do not disassemble
and do not dispose of in re. Do not attempt to disassemble the battery or
remove any component projecting from the battery terminals. The battery and
charger have no user serviceable parts. Fire or injury may result.
Prior to disposal, protect exposed terminals with heavy insulating tape to
prevent shorting.
23. Use only the battery (Vax part no. BH03120UK) supplied by Vax.
Other batteries may burst causing serious personal injury or damage.
24. Protect the batteries against impurities, such as metallic dust.
25. Do not place tools on top of the batteries: they may cause a short-circuit
or an explosion.
26. Only clean the machine in accordance with this user guide.
27. Recovered uids contain detergents, disinfectants and water, as well as
organic and inorganic material collected during work should be dispose
of them in accordance with current legal provisions.

INITAL SETUP: ASSEMBLING YOUR VCSD-03
Raise the machine to upright position
until it clicks and locks into place.
Line up and push the nozzle until it
clicks into place.
Fit the battery onto the VCSD-03
(underneath the battery cover).
The battery will click into position
when correctly tted.
Pull the nozzle release latch
upwards and forwards to remove.
Lie the VCSD-03 on its back. Line
up the spindle on the SpinScrub™
brushes with the plate on the base of
the VCSD-03. Push the SpinScrub™
brushes rmly to lock into place.

TIP: The battery can remain on the battery charger once fully charged.

IMPORTANT: The battery will need charging before rst use.
NOTE: The life expectancy of the battery will vary depending on the usage of
the hard oor cleaner. If you require a replacement battery contact us –

occurred, so remove the

FILLING THE CLEAN WATER TANK

IMPORTANT: Only use Vax Commercial hard oor cleaning detergent. Using other cleaning detergent may cause
excess foaming, which will prevent the machine from working eectively. Using other detergents will invalidate
the warranty.
Press the release button on the
clean the water tank. Pull to remove
the tank.
Pour the detergent into the tank.
Top up the tank to the ll line with
warm water (max 40°C).
Twist the clean water tank cap
anti-clockwise and lift to remove.
Twist the clean water tank cap
clockwise to re-t.
Using the clean water tank cap,
pour the required amount of
detergent (approx. 40ml per 1 litre
of water).
Tilt the clean water tank and line up
with the VCSD-03. Push until it clicks
into place.

Operating the machine
Pull to open the battery
cover. Fit the battery to the
VCSD-03. The battery will
click into position when
correctly tted.
In WASH mode, with the
trigger held down to
release clean water and
detergent, slowly move the
VCSD-03 forward to arms
length. Release the trigger
and pull the VCSD-03
backwards to pick up.
Press the handle
release pedal and pull
handle backwards.
Push the scroll selector
control forward 2 clicks.
Squeeze the trigger to
release clean water and
detergent (WASH mode)
and release trigger to
pick up dirty water
(DRY mode).

IMPORTANT: Please refer to oor manufacturer’s care recommendations before use, and test the ooring by
cleaning a small hidden area with the VCSD-03. If no damage or discolouration has occurred once the area is dry,
continue cleaning. Not suitable for use on water sensitive ooring. Vacuum the hard oor thoroughly prior to using your
VCSD-03.
NOTE: To use the scrubbing function only, push the cleaning mode selector forward one click to the central position.
The machine will not pick up dirty water when the selector is in this position.
TIP: To pick up more water, move the machine back and forth over the area, ensuring the trigger is not pressed.

Press the release button
on the dirty water tank.
Pull to remove the tank.
Remove the dirty water
tank lid from dirty water
tank and lift the oat.
Lift the dirty water tank
clips up and out to release.
Lift to remove the dirty
water tank lid.
Pinch the lter together to
remove from the lid.
Empty the dirty water over
the sink. Rinse the dirty
water tank and lid under
water to remove debris.
Replace the dirty water
tank lid.
Rinse under water (max.
40°C) to remove debris.
Leave to fully dry before
replacing back into the
VCSD-03.
Tilt the dirty water tank
and line up on the
VCSD-03. Push until
it clicks into place.

IMPORTANT: Remove the battery before carrying out maintenance on the machine.

IMPORTANT: Empty and rinse out the clean and dirty water tanks and leave to air dry before replacing.
Do not leave cleaning detergent in the tanks between uses.
NOTE: The dirty water tank has an automatic shut o to prevent the tank from overowing. If this is activated,
the VCSD-03 will not pick up and the sound of the motor will change. The dirty water tank will need to be emptied.

CLEANING THE NOZZLE
CLEANING THE SPINSCRUB BRUSHES
Pull the nozzle release latch up
and forward.
Press both of the brush
release buttons to unlock
the brush assembly.
Remove the nozzle from the
VCSD-03 and rinse under running
water (max 40°C).
Remove the brush assembly cover.
Rinse the brushes under water to
remove debris (max 40°C).
Leave to dry.
Remove any debris from the
squeegee by wiping with a
damp cloth.

IMPORTANT: Using a dry cloth or soft dusting brush remove any dust/debris from terminals on battery charger,
battery and VCSD-03.
TIP: You may wish to charge the spare battery so it is ready to use.
CLEANING THE TERMINALS
CARRYING AND STORAGE
To lower the handle, press the handle
release button and fold the handle to
storage positon.
Hold the battery securly and press
the release button at the top of
the battery.
Fit the battery onto the charger.
The battery will click into position
when correctly tted.
The VCSD-03 can be carried by
lifting the carry handle on the front.

Why does the VCSD-03 have no power?
• Check the fuse in the charger plug. Always replace the fuse in the plug with a British 3 Amp fuse.
• The battery may not be charged. Remove and charge the battery.
Why won’t the VCSD-03 pick up?
• The dirty water tank has an automatic shut o to prevent the tank from overowing. If this is activated,
the machine will not pick up and the sound of the motor will change. The dirty water tank will need to
be emptied.
• The nozzle may be blocked. Remove the nozzle and clean thorougly.
Why won’t water/detergent dispense?
• The clean water tank may not be locked into position.
• Ensure the clean water tank is lled correctly.
• The clean water tank may be empty and need to be relled.
Why won’t the brushes spin?
• Check that the SpinScrub™ brushes are clear of blockages.
Why isn’t the battery charger light lit when the battery is charging?
• Check the battery charger is plugged in and switched on at the mains.
• Check the battery is inserted correctly into the charger.
• The battery may not be connecting with the charger. Remove the battery and unplug charger,
wait 10 seconds then retry.
Why is the battery charger light continually ashing?
• Check the battery is inserted correctly into the charger.
• The battery or charger has an error. Remove the battery and unplug charger, wait 10 seconds
then plug charger into socket and re-insert the battery.
• Check terminals on battery and VCSD-03 are clean.
