1.5 Encr ption
All recordings can be encrypted. T e Call Recorder ISDN uses t e
CryptoCard option for t is feature. Playback of encrypted recordings is
not possible wit out t e CryptoCard t e recording was made wit .
Playback of encrypted recordings on a PC is possible only wit t e
optional CryptoCard reader in conjunction wit t e original or a
matc ing CryptoCard.
1.6 Pass through or passive configuration
T e Call Recorders ISDN can be connected to t e line in two ways:
Pass t roug mode – t e recorder is installed between t e network and
t e telep one system and all ISDN c annels pass t roug t e internal
bus of t e recorder and t e recorder can take control at any time. Pass
T roug mode is also occasionally called In-Line mode
Passive mode – t e recorder is connected in parallel to t e line and just
passively listening on t e incoming and outgoing c annels of t e line.
T e Call Recorders ISDN ave been designed for pass t roug mode. T e
reason was t at t e recorders must comply wit t e regulations of most
countries t at – at least for some applications – require t at t ere is
some sort of notification to t e caller t at recording takes place. T is is
only possible in pass t roug mode.
Pass t roug mode as several ot er advantages t en notification to t e
user:
It can intercept t e D-c annel and t erefore control signaling between
t e telep one system and t e network. T is is used to filter numbers
sent by t e PBX so t at t ey are not sent to t e line.
It can be used to capture commands from t e user to t e recorder
w ic as several applications t at will be explained in t is manual.
Because of pass t roug mode t e Call Recorder is equipped wit loop-
t roug relays to prevent t e Call Recorder to disrupt telep one
communication in case of a power failure or anot er malfunction. T e
loop-t roug relays t en close to fall back into passive mode and
ongoing telep one calls are not disconnected.
1.7 Privac related functions
In some situations Call Recording is perceived as an intrusion of t e
privacy. T e Call Recorder as several functions t at allow t e user to
protect t e privacy of anyone involved.
In most applications t e recorder is set up to record all calls
automatically. T e Call Recorder ISDN can owever be used to record
specific numbers only or can be set to exclude certain numbers from
recording. For t is feature t e Call Recorder ISDN as a Numberlist t at
