Safety instructions for working on the system
Working on the system
■Isolate the system from the power sup-
ply, e.g. by removing the separate fuse
or by means of a mains isolator, and
check that it is no longer live.
Note
In addition to the control circuit there
may be several power circuits.
Danger
Contact with live components can
result in severe injuries. Some
components on PCBs remain live
even after the power supply has
been switched off.
Prior to removing covers from the
appliances, wait at least 4 minutes
until the voltage has completely
dropped out.

nection.
■Wear suitable personal protective
equipment when carrying out any work.
Danger
Hot surfaces and fluids can lead to

Work on the refrigerant circuit
Refrigerants are air displacing, colour-
less, odourless gases.
■R32 forms flammable mixtures with air.
■R410A is not flammable.
Danger
Direct contact with liquid and gas-
eous refrigerant can cause serious
damage to health.
■Avoid direct contact with liquid and
gaseous refrigerant.
■Wear personal protective equip-
ment when handling liquid and
gaseous refrigerant.
Danger
Unregulated escape of refrigerant in
enclosed spaces can lead to
breathing difficulties and suffoca-
tion.
■Never breathe in refrigerant
vapours.
■Ensure adequate ventilation in
enclosed spaces.
Perform the following measures before
beginning work on the refrigerant circuit:
■Check the refrigerant circuit for leaks.
■Ensure very good ventilation especially
in the floor area and sustain this for the
duration of the work.

■Inform all persons in the vicinity of the
system about the type of work to be
carried out.
■Secure the area surrounding the work
area.
Further measures before starting work
on the refrigerant circuit with flammable
refrigerants (R32):
■Remove all flammable materials and
ignition sources from the immediate
vicinity of the heat pump.
■Before, during and after the work,
check the surrounding area for escap-
ing refrigerant using a suitable refriger-
ant detector.
This refrigerant detector must not gen-
erate any sparks and must be suitably
sealed.
■A CO2 or powder extinguisher must be
to hand in the following cases:
–Refrigerant is being topped up.
–When soldering or welding work is
being carried out.
■Display signs prohibiting smoking.
Danger
Damage to the refrigerant circuit
can cause refrigerant to enter the
hydraulic system. This can cause
serious damage to health.
After completion of the work, pro-
fessionally vent the hydraulic sys-
tem on the primary and secondary
sides.

Repairing components that fulfil a
safety function can compromise the
safe operation of the system.
Replace faulty components only
with genuine Viessmann spare
parts.
Auxiliary components, spare and
wearing parts

Spare and wearing parts that have
not been tested together with the

compromise safety and may invalid-

Intended use
The appliance is intended solely for installation and
operation in sealed unvented heating systems that
comply with EN 12828, with due attention paid to the
associated installation, service and operating instruc-
tions.
Intended use presupposes that a fixed installation in
conjunction with permissible, system-specific compo-
nents has been carried out.
Commercial or industrial usage for a purpose other
than central heating/cooling or DHW heating shall be
deemed inappropriate.
Incorrect usage or operation of the appliance (e.g. the
appliance being opened by the system user) is prohibi-
ted and will result in an exclusion of liability. Incorrect
usage also occurs if the components in the heating
system are modified from their intended function.

Setting levels
To prevent incorrect operation of the heat pump and
other system components, not all settings are available
at every setting level.
Example:
Control parameters can be called up in the "Contrac-
tor" level, but not in the "System user" level.
System users
This setting level is suitable for persons who have
been instructed in the operation of the system by the
contractor (specialist).
Via the home screen, the system is switched on and
off, and the main menu is called up with all further
functions.
For functions at the "System user" setting level,
see the operating instructions.
Contractor
Additional functions and parameters are available at
this password-protected setting level.
The password-protected settings may only be entered
by contractor personnel who have been trained in the
use of Viessmann heat pumps.

The entire system can be switched off via the  button
("Off"). The heat pump control unit and sensors
remain operational. The power supply to the system
will not be interrupted. Actual values can still be
retrieved; remote diagnosis/maintenance also remains
possible. Frost protection remains active. The system
can be switched back on by pressing the  button
again ("Auto"). Alternatively, the system can be
switched on via remote access.
If the mains isolator is switched off, then the power
supply to the system will be completely interrupted.
Setting the operating level
The settings and checks available depend on the oper-
ating level.
The following operating levels can be selected:
■"No user" (not logged in)
Only information can be checked at this operating
level. Settings cannot be adjusted. Only "User
admin" can be called up via the "Main menu".
■"System user"
At this operating level, information can be checked
and settings can be adjusted.
■"Cntrctor"
This operating level is for contractors only. At this
operating level, further information can be checked
and settings can be adjusted.
User login
Tap the following buttons:
1. If necessary, for the home screen
2. for the "Main menu"
3. "User admin"
4. "Log in" to switch to the "Cntrctor" operating
level.
5. Using the keyboard, enter "Viessmann" in the
"User name" field.
Using the keyboard, enter "viesstech15" in the
"Password" field.
User logout
Tap the following buttons:
1. If necessary, for the home screen
2. for the "Main menu"
3. "User admin"
4. "Logout" to switch to the "No user" operating
level.
Note
If no settings are input for a longer period of time, the
operating level automatically changes to "No user".
Managing inputs and outputs
All of the interface modules' inputs and outputs can be
displayed and switched manually (manual mode). This
is particularly advantageous during commissioning.
With the analogue inputs, a value can be set manually
if, for example, there is a lead break. In the event of
deviations the actual value can be adjusted with an off-
set.

Selecting an interface module
Tap the following buttons:
1. If necessary, for the home screen
2. for the "Main menu"
3. "PLC"
4. Select the required interface module. See tables
on page 12.
Activating manual mode (actuator test)
Via the outputs of the interface modules, it is possible
to switch specific actuators (compressors, electronic
expansion valves, circulating pumps, mixing valves,
cylinders, heating circuits, etc.) on and off.
This allows an actuator test to be performed.
Digital outputs
The "Status" of the digital outputs can be changed to
"Auto", "Off" or "On" using "Man. mode" .
Analogue outputs
The "Actl vl" (actual value) of every analogue output
can be specified manually:
■Use "Value manual" to specify the value for
"Man. mode" (manual mode).
■Use "Man. mode" to change the "Actl vl" to
"Auto" or "Man." (manual).
As soon as manual switching is active, the symbol
appears in the navigation area and the message
"Manual switching active" is shown in the alarm list.
Deactivating manual mode
To deactivate all active manual switching, press and
tap on "Acknowl." in the alarm list.
Checking the sensors
The values of the sensors on the analogue inputs can
be displayed and checked for plausibility. See also
page 52.
Setting a value manually
Values can be set manually (e.g. if there is a lead
break).
■Use "Value manual" to specify the value for
"Man. mode".
■Use "Man. mode" to change the "Actl vl" from
"Auto" to "Man.".
Correcting a value
In the case of deviations, the displayed value can be
adjusted.
Use "Offset" to adjust the value of the sensor.
Changing the status of a digital input
The "Status" of the digital inputs can be changed to
"Auto", "Off" or "On" using "Man. mode" .
