Safety instructions for working on the system
Working on the system
■Isolate the system from the power supply, e.g. by
removing the separate fuse or by means of a mains
isolator, and check that it is no longer live.
Note
In addition to the control circuit there may be several
power circuits.
Danger
Contact with live components can result in
severe injuries. Some components on PCBs
remain live even after the power supply has
been switched off.
Prior to removing covers from the appliances,
wait at least 4 minutes until the voltage has
completely dropped out.
■Safeguard the system against reconnection.
■Wear suitable personal protective equipment when
carrying out any work.
Danger
Hot surfaces can cause burns.
■Before maintenance and service work, switch
OFF the appliance and let it cool down.
■Never touch hot surfaces on the appliance, fit-
tings or pipework.

Electronic assemblies can be damaged by elec-
trostatic discharge.
Prior to commencing work, touch earthed
objects such as heating or water pipes to dis-
charge static loads.
Repair work

Repairing components that fulfil a safety func-
tion can compromise the safe operation of the

Auxiliary components, spare and wearing parts
!Please note
Spare and wearing parts that have not been tes-
ted together with the system can compromise its
function. Installing non-authorised components
and making non-approved modifications or con-
versions can compromise safety and may inva-
lidate our warranty.
For replacements, use only original spare parts
supplied or approved by Viessmann.

trol unit for heat pumps:

For a standard system scheme, see the installa-
tion and service instructions of the relevant heat
pump.
Setting levels
To prevent incorrect operation of the heat pump and
other system components, not all setting options are
available at every setting level.
Example:
Control parameters can only be called up in the "Serv-
ice" setting level or higher.
System users
This setting level is suitable for persons who have
been instructed in the operation of the heating system
by the heating contractor (specialist).
■From the start page, a system can be switched on
and off or the menu with all other functions can be
called up.
■The menu offers further functions such as setting
time programs or displaying an overview of the sys-
tem.
The menu is called up with .
For functions at the "System user" setting level,
see the operating instructions.
Service
Additional functions and parameters are available at
this setting level.
To change password-protected settings, see chapter
"Configuration/login".
Note
■The password-protected settings may only be per-
formed by heating contractor personnel who have
been trained in the use of Viessmann heat pumps.

The programming unit is equipped with a touchscreen.
The display switches on as soon as you touch the
screen. The start page appears.
If the screen is not touched for 5 minutes, the display
returns automatically to the start page.
If the screen is not touched for 15 minutes, the display
switches off automatically.

Switching the system on/off
 initiates a complete system shutdown. The heat
pump control unit and sensors remain operational. The
power supply to the system will not be interrupted.
Actual values can still be retrieved; remote diagnosis/
maintenance also remains possible. Frost protection
remains active. The system can be restarted by press-
ing the  button again or by remote access.
If the mains isolator is switched off, then the power
supply to the system will be completely interrupted.

tem overview" page, tap the time/date.

Entering the password
Some settings can only be changed after obtaining
authorisation by entering a password.
The password for contractors (service and commis-
sioning) is service545. Please note that the user name
and password are case-sensitive.
Note
The passwords for system users are pass123 and
passwd. Using passwd, all settings relating to the
heating and cooling circuits can be made.
After entering the password, the corresponding setting
level is displayed above the entry field.

To change the system configuration.

From "SW version" "....R92" (see page 60), cer-
tain settings will take effect only once the configura-
tion has been saved.
■"Reload configuration"
From "SW version" "0.96R93" (see page 60),

Saving/loading the configuration
For settings to be applied, they must first be saved
using the "Save configuration" button.
A saved configuration is loaded automatically. In the
following cases only, it may be necessary to load a
saved configuration using the "Reload configuration"
button:
■If settings have been changed accidentally
■To apply a configuration in a software update
■To restore after a total failure of the power supply
and backup battery
■To apply a configuration from another heat pump
control unit. For this purpose, a configuration can be
backed up to a PC via an FTP program.
■To load a previous version if problems are encoun-
tered with the current configuration
■After a full initialisation of the heat pump control unit
with the "Reset configuration" button on the
"Selectn series" page. See page 14.
■To load a configuration originally created at the fac-
tory and saved under a different name (factory set-
ting).

Buttons:
■"External control"
Setting up external control:
–Set the properties under "Parameter system con-
troller" and "Settings external control".
–For external control via Modbus, also select
"Parameter system controller" and "Modbus
settings" or if necessary "Parameter system
controller" and "Settings Ethernet" to set the
communication properties.
–If "External control" has been selected, the
pages for further system configuration will be skip-
ped.
■"Cascade slave"
–If the heat pump in a cascade is a lag heat pump,
select "Cascade slave". No selection needs to be
made on this page for the lead heat pump in a cas-
cade.
–The cascade is configured under "Configuration
system controller".
Description/external control options
Only the heat pump, primary pump and secondary
pump are controlled. External control is possible for
the maximum number of enabled compressors and,
optionally, the set flow temperature. Details are given
under "Parameter system controller" -> "Settings
external control". See page 32.

Heating circuits and buffer cylinder
Note
For heat pumps with rotary screw compressor, see
page 23.

When selected, the button will turn green.
Buttons:
■"SW" (set value)
–The set values for the buffer cylinder and heating
circuits are fixed.
–Set values are adjusted in the detailed illustrations
of system components. The "Set val." and
"Curve" buttons can be found here.
–If "Direct" has been selected, the "Set val.
direct" button appears in the centre of the system
overview. The set value can be adjusted here.
■"OT" (outside temperature)
–The outside temperature determines the flow tem-
peratures of the heating circuits based on the pro-
grammed heating curves.
–The heating curves can be adjusted in the detailed
system view of individual heating circuits under
"Curve".
After you have logged in with the service/expert
password, "Curve" appears under "Heating circ
x".
For "Setting curves", see the "Vitotronic
SPS" operating instructions
■"Ext. 0-10 V" (external output signal)
–The set value for the heating water buffer cylinder
and heating circuits is specified by an external
analogue signal (0 V = -10 °C, 10 V = 73 °C or
lower if the maximum flow temperature for the
selected heat pump is below this).

■"External heating"
–The booster heater (accessories) is switched on if
the heat pump does not reach a certain minimum
flow temperature.
–It is adjusted in the detailed system view of the
booster heater.
■"Heating circ 1-3"
–The number of heating circuits installed is specified
here.
–Each installed heating circuit appears in the sys-
tem illustration. Adjustments to the circuit are made
one by one.
■"Ctrlld"
–A mixer must be installed for every regulated heat-
ing circuit.
–The heating circuit has its own heating curve or its
own set value.
–If a heating circuit can also provide cooling, a
choice between control for cooling or heating is
offered; it is not possible to select both.

Buttons:
■"DHW"
Specifies whether the system heats the DHW.
■"DHW circ."
Specifies whether a DHW circulation pump is instal-
led.
■"El. heating"
Specifies whether an electric booster heater is instal-
led.
The electric booster heater will provide reheating if
the heat pump cannot achieve the required tempera-
ture.
Note
The set DHW temperature is set in parameter "DHW
cylinder".
