OPERATION STEPS
STEP 1

Remove the Lid, turn the frames around, then reinstall the Lid and extract the second side.
Once the honey has been fully extracted, open the Lid and remove the frames.
Reinstall the Lid to the Honey Extractor, then turn the Crank Handle to spin the Basket and
extract honey from the loaded frames.
The Extractor may shake during operation since honey frames rarely have perfect balance.
To reduce shaking, hold the Extractor down with one hand while cranking with the other.

STEP 4
With the honey gate positioned over an open container, loosen the wingnut on the Honey
Gate and open the Lid of the Honey Gate. The Extractor should always be drained before
honey levels can rise to reach the underside of the Basket. To drain as much honey as
possible, the Extractor may be tipped forward.
STEP 1
To disassemble the Extractor for cleaning, maintenance and adjustment, first remove the
Lid, then pull the Gear Covers apart and remove. Loosen the bolt on the Crank Handle to
remove.
STEP 2

CARE & MAINTENANCE
OPTION 1: For a quick cleaning, spray the inside of the Extractor with a hose or pressure washer using
clean water. Leave the Lid of the Honey Gate open for continuous draining. Wipe away excess water with
a towel and leave the Lid o for the Extractor to dry.
OPTION 2: For a more thorough cleaning, disassemble the Honey Extractor as described in the
“Disassembly” section. Scrub the Extractor Drum and the Basket clean using a brush or sponge with
warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse with clean water, and dry with a towel. Reassemble the Extractor,
and leave the Lid o for further drying.
OPTION 3 (use in addition to options 1 and 2): In dry weather, place the extractor near the active bee hive
and leave the lid o. The bees will collect leover materials to rebuild honeycomb within the hive. When
the bees are finished, follow up with cleaning options 1 or 2.
CARE
When not in use, store the extractor in a dry place. Although stainless steel is highly resistant to rust and
corrosion, light surface rust can form in wet conditions.
If surface rust forms, clean with a light abrasive to remove rust.
If the extractor begins making squeaking noises, lightly lubricate the central bearing on the floor with a
food safe grease or oil. Wipe away any excess.
The gears may be lightly lubricated with a thick, food safe grease if needed.
