We recommend that you perform a final check on this product.
Prior to first use, please verify that the write-blocking function of this product is working properly.
This is easily done: attach a known good formatted drive, and verify that the drive mounts
properly on your computer. Use a drive that has data on it that you are willing to overwrite.
Transfer files to the drive. The files will appear to transfer to the drive. Thereafter, unmount the
drive and remount the drive. The files that you wrote to the drive should not appear after the
drive is remounted. If they do appear, there is a problem with your Forensic Device, and you
should contact our support department for further instructions.

Installation Instructions
1.Check the accessories with your Forensic SCSIDock. Please contact WiebeTech if any items are
missing or damaged. The box should contain:

FireWire 400 cable (6-pin to 6-pin) 1

2. Attach bottom plate to your 3.5” SCSI hard drive. This step is
optional but recommended. The purpose of the bottom plate is to
provide protection to your drive electronics and aid heat dissipation.
Attach the bottom plate to your drive using the four screws supplied.
Attach a rubber bumper to each corner. Extra bottom plates are available
from WiebeTech.
3. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the parts of your new SCSIDock. This will aid you in
the remaining steps.

4. Connect the SCSI hard drive to the dock. Adapters are included for access to the most common
types of SCSI drives. Any power to the drive/device should be disconnected during this step.

5. Connect the FireWire cable from your computer into a FireWire port on the SCSIDock. If your
computer does not have a FireWire port, host adapters are available from WiebeTech.
6. Connect power to the SCSIDock. The power adapter has several components. The wall cord (A)
plugs into an available electrical outlet, and connects to the AC adapter (B). WiebeTech recommends the
use of a surge protector and/or UPS to reduce the chances of damage to the equipment or data caused
by a power spike or outage. The DIN connector from the AC adapter plugs into the breakout power
adapter (C). The breakout power adapter has both a DC plug to power the SCSIDock, and a 4-wire
molex connector that provides power for the hard drive. When power is plugged into the SCSIDock, the
green LED on the dock will illuminate. The dock is now ready to use.

Usage with Windows Operating System
Compatibility
The Forensic SCSIDock is fully plug-and-play with Windows XP. No drivers are needed.
Mounting and Ejecting Volumes
When the drive is connected and the unit is turned on, the drive’s volume(s) will mount to My Computer. You can
access the drive and begin retrieving data right away.
Usage with Macintosh Computers
Compatibility
The Forensic SCSIDock is fully plug-and-play under Mac OS 10.1 and above. No drivers are needed.
Mounting and Ejecting Volumes
When the drive is connected and the unit is turned on, the drive’s volume(s) will mount to the desktop. You can
access the drive and begin retrieving data right away.

Warnings and Restrictions
•Only one SCSI drive can be connected to the Forensic SCSIDock. If you wish to access two
or more SCSI drives, each must be connected to the computer via a separate dock.
•The original SCSI based drivers or application software for your SCSI devices may not work
when the SCSI device is connected to the Forensic SCSIDock.
•The Multiple LUN (Logical Unit Number) function is not supported.
Troubleshooting
•Make sure all cables and adapters and firmly connected.
•If the LED does not light, make sure all power connections are fully-seated and secure. Try
plugging into a different outlet.
•Make sure the SCSI device has a SCSI ID other than 7. This is usually configured via
jumpers on the device.

FOR HOME OR OFFICE USE
In the event that you experience Radio Frequency Interference, you should take the following steps to resolve the problem:
1) Ensure that the bottom plate and case of your attached drive is grounded.
2) Use a FireWire cable with RFI reducing ferrites on each end.
3) Use a power supply with an RFI reducing ferrite approximately 5 inches from the DC plug.
