WARNINGS
GENERAL WARNINGS
• Failure to respect the warnings may cause serious damage to the pool equipment or cause
serious injury, even death.
•
Only a person quali ed in the technical  elds concerned (electricity, hydraulics or refrigera on)
is authorised to perform this procedure. The quali ed technician working on the appliance
must use/wear personal protec ve equipment (such as safety goggles and protec ve gloves,
etc.) in order to reduce the risk of injury occurring when working on the appliance.
• Before handling the machine, ensure that it is switched o and isolated.
• The appliance is intended to be used with pools for a speci c purpose; it must not be used
for any purpose other than that for which it was designed.
• It is important that the appliance is operated by people who are competent and quali ed
(both physically and mentally), a er having read the instruc ons for use. All persons not
mee ng these criteria must not approach the appliance in order to avoid exposure to
dangerous elements.
• This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with impaired physical,
sensorial or mental abili es, or persons lacking in knowledge and experience, unless they
receive supervision or prior instruc ons on using the appliance from a person responsible for
their safety. Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• This appliance must not be used by children under 8 or by adults whose reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabili es, or whose lack of experience and knowledge, might cause a
hazard, unless they have been correctly instructed to understand the safe use and hazards
involved and are adequately supervised. Children must not be allowed to play with this
appliance. User cleaning and maintenance opera ons must not be carried out by children
without supervision.
• The appliance must be installed according to the manufacturer’s instruc ons and in
compliance with local standards in force. The installer is responsible for installing the appliance
and for compliance with na onal installa on regula ons. Under no circumstances may the
manufacturer be held liable in the event of failure to comply with applicable local installa on
standards.
• For any work other than the simple user maintenance described in this manual, the product
should be referred to a quali ed professional.
• Incorrect installa on and/or use may cause serious damage to property or serious injuries
(possibly causing death).
• All equipment, even postage and packing paid, travels at the risks and perils of the recipient.
The la er shall issue reserves in wri ng on the carrier's delivery slip if damage is detected,
caused during transport (con rma on to be sent to the carrier within 48 hours by registered
le er). In the event that an appliance containing coolant has been turned on its side, men on
your reserva ons in wri ng to the carrier.
• If the appliance su ers a malfunc on, do not try to repair it yourself; instead contact a
quali ed technician.
• Refer to the warranty condi ons for details of the permi ed water balance values for
opera ng the appliance.
• Deac va ng, elimina ng or by-passing any of the safety mechanisms integrated into
the appliance shall automa cally void the warranty, in addi on to the use of spare parts
manufactured by unauthorised third-party manufacturers.
• Do not spray insec cide or any other chemical (fl ammable or non-fl ammable) in the direc on
of the appliance, as this may damage the body and cause a  re.
• Do not touch the fan or moving parts and do not place a rod or your  ngers in the vicinity of
the moving parts during opera on of the appliance. Moving parts can cause serious injury or
even death.

Recycling
This symbol means that your appliance must not be thrown into a normal bin. It will be selecvely collected for the
purpose of reuse, recycling or transformaon. If it contains any substances that may be harmful to the environment,
these will be eliminated or neutralised.
Contact your retailer for recycling informaon.
WARNINGS ASSOCIATED WITH ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
• The power supply to the appliance must be protected by a dedicated 30 mA residual current
device, complying with the standards and regulaons in force in the country in which it is
installed.
• Do not use any extension lead when connecng the appliance; plug the appliance directly
into a suitable wall socket.
• Before carrying out any operaons, check that:
- The voltage indicated on the appliance informaon plate corresponds to the mains voltage.
- The power grid is adapted to the power requirements of the appliance, and is grounded.
- The plug (where applicable) is suitable for the socket.
• In the event of abnormal operaon or the release of odours from the appliance, turn it o
immediately, unplug it from its power supply and contact a professional.
• Before any intervenon on the appliance, ensure that the laer is switched o and disconnected
from the power supply, in addion to any other equipment connected to the appliance.
• Do not disconnect and reconnect the appliance to the power supply when in operaon.
• Do not pull on the power cord to disconnect it from the power supply.
• If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its technician or a
qualied person to guarantee safety.
• Do not perform maintenance or servicing operaons on the appliance with wet hands or if
the appliance is wet.
• Clean the terminal block or the power supply socket before connecon.
• For any component or sub-assembly containing a baery: do not recharge or dismantle the
baery, or throw it into a re. Do not expose it to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
• In stormy weather, unplug the appliance to prevent it from suering lightning damage.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water (with the excepon of cleaners) or mud.

2. Installa on
2.1 Preparing the pool: water balance
These appliances are designed to disinfect pool water using the salt water chlorina on func on.
It is essen al that the water balance and salinity (4 g/L) are checked and adjusted before installing the appliance. Making
sure that the water balance and salinity are correct from the very start will reduce the likelihood of encountering problems
on the  rst days of opera on or during the season the pool is in use.
Even though it is an autonomous system, it is essen al to regularly analyse the water to check the water
balance parameters and adjust them if necessary.

2.2 Installing the control box
• The control box must be installed in a dry ven lated technical room protected against frost, with no pool maintenance
products stored nearby.
• The control box must be installed at a distance of at least 2.0 m from the outside edge of the pool. Any addi onal local
legisla on in force concerning the installa on of the control box in the country concerned must be complied with.
• It must not be installed more than 1.5 metres from the cell (maximum cable length).
• If the box is  xed to a post, a water ght panel must be  xed behind the control box (350x400 mm minimum).
• Fix the support solidly to the wall or the water ght panel, and place the control box on it using the screws provided.

2.3 Installing the cell
• The cell must be installed on the piping a er the  ltra on system ( ), a er any measurement sensors, and a er any
hea ng systems. Ei² - GenSalt OE Ei² Expert
• The cell must be installed on a horizontal pipe so as to guarantee that the water fl ow passing therethrough is primarily
horizontal, and that the angle/slope does not exceed 30°. The pipe must have a free horizontal length of at least 30 cm,
on which the cell will be installed. The cell must also be installed as far as possible from any right angle or curve formed
in the piping ( ).
• Respect the water fl ow direc on (see arrows ( )).

• Dismantle the cell ( ).
• Posi on the EU pipe adapter (DN 50 mm) upside down at the posi on where the pipe ( ) will be installed.
• Use a drill bit or centre-punch to mark the posi ons of the holes to be drilled on the pipe, remove the EU pipe adapter
(DN 50 mm) and drill the holes using the hole saw supplied.
• Check that the edges are perfectly smooth and deburred (use abrasive paper for example).
• Clip together the lower and upper parts of the cell collar on the pipe at the holes, respec ng the water fl ow direc on
(use the "EU" Ø50 reducer for a Ø50 mm pipe).
• Posi on the top transparent part of the cell (presence of a foolproof loca ng notch), posi on the locking ring on the
thread of the upper collar by aligning the point ( ) of the collar with the arrow of the collar ( ), then  ghten  rmly
by hand (do not use a tool).
• Connect the cell power cord in compliance with the wire colour codes (red, black and blue connector(s)) and then  t
the protec ve cap.
• For Ei² 12, GenSalt OE 10 or Ei² Expert 10 models, the second red connector will not be connected; leave it as it is before
posi oning the protec on cover.

• The cell must always be the last element placed on the pool return pipe (see diagram).
• It is always recommended to install the cell on a by-pass. This assembly is MANDATORY if the  ow is in
excess of 18 m³/hour to avoid head loss.
• If you installed the cell on a by-pass, it is recommended to  t a check valve downstream from the cell
instead of a manual valve, to avoid any risk of incorrect con gura on which could result in poor circula on
inside the cell.
• If the instruc ons on the loca on and orienta on of the cell are not complied with, there could be a
dangerous build-up of pressurised gas which could cause damage, personal injury or even death.

An "AUS" reducer and a black gasket are supplied in the installa on kit. They are intended for 1 1/2" (= 48
mm) pipes. However, the black gasket can be used instead of the original gasket if the pipe is not standardised
(diameter smaller than DN 50 or DN 63).
2.4 Installing the  ow switch (Ei² Expert only)
The fl ow switch and its  xture collar (Ø50 mm) must impera vely be installed on the piping close to the cell and upstream
from it. Use the threaded adapter and Tefl on tape supplied to install the fl ow switch on its  xture collar.
• Cell installed on a by-pass: the fl ow switch must be installed on the cell by-pass between the upstream isola on valve
and the cell itself.
• Cell installed in line: the fl ow switch must be installed just in front of the cell and a er a possible valve.
• A ach the fl ow switch using using the clamping nut only (screw by hand!).

• Failure to comply with these instruc ons could lead to the destruc on of the cell! The manufacturer cannot
be held liable in this case.
• The  ow switch has a direc on for installa on (arrow indicated on it showing the  ow direc on for the
water). Make sure that it is correctly placed on its  xture collar so that it stops the salt water chlorinator
produc on when  ltering is stopped ("No  ow" displayed showing the absence of  ow, see “5.
Troubleshoo ng”).
2.5 Electric connec ons
2.5.1 Connec ng the control box
The salt water chlorinator can be connected in compliance with the applicable standards in the country of installa on.
Ei² - GenSalt OE: Mandatory connec on: directly coupled to the pool  ltra on system (the appliance is only supplied with
power when a  ltering cycle is running).
Ei² Expert:
• Preferred connec on: the appliance is permanently plugged in to the power supply (power supply protected by a 30
mA residual current circuit breaker).
• Possible connec on: directly coupled to the pool  ltra on system (the appliance is only supplied with power when a
 ltering cycle is running).
==> When all connec ons (electrical and hydraulic) have been made, reconnect the mains power supply to power on the
appliance.
• Failure to comply with these instruc ons could lead to the destruc on of the cell! The manufacturer cannot
be held liable in this case.
• Whichever connec on is used, it is mandatory to programme the Ei² Expert opera ng  mes (called
"Timers") (see “3.2.5 “SUMMER” and “WINTER” modes and se ng the “Timers””).

2.5.2 Connec on to an electric roller shu er
If the pool is   ed with an electric roller shu er, it can be connected to the chlorinator using a dry contact so that
the la er automa cally adapts its chlorine produc on when the shu er is closed (see “3.2.3 “LOW” mode: chlorine
produc on reduced to 10 % if the pool is covered”).
• Make sure the appliance is powered o .
• Remove the 12 screws securing the cover and remove it (take care not to disconnect the ribbon cables).
• Unscrew the dedicated cable gland  ghtening ring (at the bo om of the control box) and remove the plug to feed
through the cable from the shu er. Tighten the cable gland  ghtening ring.
• Connect the cable from the shu er to the "POOL+" and "POOL-" connectors on the printed circuit board.
• Close the box according to the  ghtening order shown on the following diagram (9 long screws for the perimeter of
the box and 3 short screws for the bo om of the box). The protec on ra ng of the box for water ingress (IPX5) may be
a ected if this procedure is not strictly observed.

• The chlorinator is compa ble with several di erent types of electric shu er. However, certain systems may not
be compa ble. In this case, ac vate "Low" mode manually from the chlorinator control panel (Ei² Expert only).
• Refer to the shu er manufacturer's installa on manual.
• The dry contact opera ng principle is as follows: contact closed = shu er closed.
