Phone setup
Installing the SIM card and battery
Power off your phone before installing or replacing
the battery or SIM card.
1. Remove the back cover as shown.
2. Insert the SIM card into the card slot with
the cut corner oriented as shown.
3. Carefully insert the battery with the contacts
located against the metal springs. Push
down on the battery until it is fully seated.
4. Replace the back cover.

Inserting a microSDHC™card
1. Open the microSDHC card slot and insert
a microSDHC card (not included) with the
gold-colored contacts facing the front of
the phone.
2. Close the microSDHC card slot.
Removing the battery and
SIM/microSDHC card
1. Power off your phone.
2. Remove the back cover.
3. Lift the battery up and out.
4. Slide the SIM card out.
5. Open the microSDHC card slot and push in on the card until you hear
a click. Once you release the card it should pop out of the phone.
Charging the battery
Note: For best performance, charge the battery
fully prior to using the phone for the rst time.
1. Insert the charger’s connector into the
charging port. Be sure to insert the
connector in the correct orientation.
Do not force the connector into the port.
2. Plug the charger into a standard
AC wall outlet.
3. When the battery is fully charged, unplug the
charger and disconnect it from the phone.
Switching your phone on/off
Make sure the SIM card is in your phone and the battery is charged.
• Press and hold the Power key to turn on your phone.
• To turn it off, press and hold the Power key to open the options menu.
Tap Power off > OK.
Setting up your phone for the rst time
When you rst power on your phone after you purchase it or reset it to factory
settings (see Phone settings – Factory reset), you need to set up your phone
settings before using it.
1. Scroll the language list to highlight the language you need and then
tap Start.
2. If you have a Gmail account, tap Yes to sign in to Google.Tap No if you do
not have an account.
3. To create a Google account, tap Get an account.You can also tap
Not now to set up an account later.
4. Congure the Google location options and tap .
5. Input your name and tap .
6. Read the Google services information and tap .
7. Tap Finish to complete setup.
Switching to Sleep Mode
To save battery power, Sleep Mode suspends your phone in a low-power-
consumption state while the display is off.Your phone also goes into Sleep
Mode by itself when the display is automatically turned off after a certain

period of time, which you can set by tapping > System settings > Display >
Sleep from the home screen.
Press the Power key to switch to Sleep Mode.
Waking up your phone
1. Press the Power key to activate your screen display.
2. Tap and hold to unlock the screen.
Note: If you have set an unlock pattern, PIN, or password for your phone
(see Phone settings – Security settings) you’ll need to draw the pattern or
enter the PIN/password to unlock your screen.
Getting around
Touch control
Use the touch screen to control your phone.The controls on your touch
screen change dynamically depending on the tasks you’re performing.
1. Tap the buttons,icons, or applications to select items or to open
applications.
2. Keep your nger on an item to see the available options.
3. Swipe the screen to scroll up, down, left, or right.
4. Drag and drop to move particular items across the screen.
5. Pinch with two ngers or double-tap the screen to zoom in/out on a web
page or an image.
Note: You can view the phone screen in portrait or landscape orientation
simply by holding it upright or turning it on its side.

Home screens
You can customize your home screens. Set your own wallpaper, add the
widgets or application shortcuts you need, or remove them as you like.
Navigating your home screens
Your phone comes with 3 home screens, giving you more space to add more
items. Simply swipe your nger to the left or right to see each home screen.

setting to silent/vibration/sound, or to set to Airplane
mode.
Press to switch your phone to Sleep Mode.

Creating new home screens
1. From the home screen,pinch two ngers quickly together.
2. Tap on a blank screen thumbnail.
3. Tap .
Choosing your wallpaper
1. From the home screen,tap > Wallpaper.
2. Tap Home or Lock screen.
3. Tap Gallery, Live wallpapers or Wallpapers and choose the image or
animation you want to use as the wallpaper. Some cropping may be
needed for Gallery images.
4. Tap Done (for Gallery images) or Set Wallpaper.
Note: Live wallpapers are not available for the lock screen.
Adding items to your home screen
1. Tap .
2. Tap the Apps, Widgets, or Shortcuts tab, depending on what you want
to add.
3. Tap and hold the icon of the item you wish to add and then drag it to the
spot on the home screen where you want it located.
Adjusting widget size
1. Tap and hold a widget on the home screen and then release it.
2. An outline appears around the widget. Drag the outline to resize
the widget.
Note: Not all widgets can be resized.
Removing items from your home screen
1. Tap and hold the item you want to delete until Remove appears on
the screen.
2. Drag the item to Remove and release your nger when the item turns red.
Creating a folder
1. On a home screen, tap and hold an app icon and drag it to Folder.
2. You can add more apps to the folder by dragging icons to the folder.
3. Tap the folder to open it and access items in the folder.
4. To name the folder, open it and tap Folder.
5. Enter a name and tap Done.
Deleting items from a folder
1. Tap a folder to open it.
2. Tap and hold an icon and drag it to Remove. Release the icon when it
turns red.
Weather/clock widget
Customizing the widget
• To add the weather for a city, tap the weather portion of the widget >
Add city.Tap a major city name or enter a name to search for it.
Note: Your phone will automatically add the weather for your current
location via GPS.
• If you have more than one city added to the widget,swipe left or right on
the weather screen to switch between cities.

• To set a city as a default location, replace it, or delete it,tap > >
Set as default.
Tip: To change from Fahrenheit to Celsius, tap > Temperature scale.
Using the widget
• To set an alarm, tap the time on the widget.
• To refresh the weather information, tap .
• To view detailed weather information, including forecasts, tap the
temperature.
• To delete the widget, tap and hold it and drag it to Remove.
Indicator light
The Indicator light will be red for 10 seconds when the phone is powered on
and when the battery is low (less than 5%).It also indicates battery charging
status and other information as follows:
Indicator light What it means

Orange Battery less than 90%
Green Battery more than 90%
Blinking red No service
Blinking orange Alarm notication
Blinking green Missed calls or messages

Your phone will tell you exactly what’s going on by showing you simple icons.
