Other Confi urations
FTTC/FTTP with an
Openreach supplied modem
In most cases, once the ZyXEL has lo ed in for the first time, it will be confi ured in the correct way for your service –
the card on the base of the router will also describe your specific confi uration and how it needs to be connected. The
confi uration of the router can be modified via the Control Pa es or feel free to talk to staff for further help or
information.
The details above describe the most common confi uration for this router – where you are simply connectin the
ZyXEL router to your phone line and usin its built in wifi and network ports for your Internet access.
There are situations where the ZyXEL is confi ured in a different way. For example, plu ed in to an Openreach
supplied modem (such as the case of all FTTP lines and FTTC lines that were installed before June 2015).
Alternatively, you may have your own PPPoE router (e a FireBrick) and you want to use the ZyXEL as a simple
'modem brid e' between your phone line and your own router. See below for further information re ardin these two
cases:

When usin the DSL socket, the DSL li ht should be reen or oran e. If this li ht is blinkin or
off then the router is not in sync with the Exchan e or Cabinet equipment. Here are some
checks:
●If your telephone socket has two sockets and one is more square than rectan le, plu the
router in to the square socket (no need for the splitter in this case, as your socket has a built
in splitter)
●If you have multiple phone sockets for the phone line in the buildin , try usin your master
socket – the one nearest to where the phone line enters the buildin
●Test that the phone line is workin by plu in in a telephone
Configuration
Don't for et that the router will receive its confi uration once it has come online for the first time.
This will cause the router to restart. The router should have received its confi uration and have
restarted within about six minutes of bein online.
Factory Reset
If required, holdin in the reset button for about five seconds, until the power li ht oes red, will
revert the confi uration to our default settin s. In this state the router will try to et online and
obtain its own confi uration for your line. The confi uration settin s can be set on our Control
Pa es. For example, from the Control Pa es, can you set the router to be a brid e. There are
other settin s there too, e WiFi, passwords and so on.
