2.0 Description

2.2 Tools needed for Installation:
-Drill or hammer and chisel
-1/4” ratchet with 7/16” and 9/16 sockets
3.0 Prepare Existing Cabinets for
Expansion
3.1 Remove the cap bolts and the cap by pushing it up.
3.2 Remove the doors.
a. Cabinet with door Piano Hinges.
1. Loosen door bolts.
2. Lift doors up and off, remove the bolts.
b. Cabinet with door hinge posts.
1. Lift doors up and off.
2. Use a drill or hammer and chisel to remove
all cabinet hinges from side rails.
3.3 Remove jumper wire spools, plastic trays and
discard spool holder brackets.
3.4. Knock out the press nut inserts from the top of
the side rails.
1.0 General
1.1 The 4084/4086 Expansion Kit increases the cross connect capacity of an existing 4084 or 4086 Cabinet to
3600 pairs. There is no service interruption during installation and the new and existing feeder and
distribution pairs can be jumpered to each other.

3.5 Installing the Expansion Side Rail
a. Figure 1 shows the four versions of the
existing cabinet Side Rails and the
Expansion Kit Side Rail:
4.0 Install the 4084/4086 Expansion Kit
See Figure 2 for placement of new Kit parts
to the cabinet.
4.1 Place the Expansion Rails on the top edge of
the cabinet base, align the attachment holes to
the side rails. Secure the expansion rails to
the side rails with carriage bolt heads out.
4.2 Install the new jumper runs on the lower
support.
4.3 Remove the bolts holding the existing upper
support to old side rails and install the new
lower support
4.4 Install the upper support.
4.5 Install either a 300 or 600 pair Frame as
required, secure between upper and lower
supports.
4.6 Mount the new cap with the cup washer bolts.
4.7 Install the jumper spool trays over the nylon
buttons on upper support.
4.8 Remove the old weather-stripping from skirt,
wipe the surfaces clean and install new
weather-stripping.
4.9 Install the new doors and latch assemblies.
4.10 Install two new 4247 Tool and Probe
Assemblies, front and rear.
4.11 Check and tighten all existing cabinet
hardware.

5.0 Cable Routing in the Expansion Cabinet
5.1 After the cabinet has the Expansion Kit installed route the new cables to the expansion frames according
to Figure 3.
