General Instructions
AllAmana Compact Room Air Conditionersfeature a slide-
out chassis. Chassis must be removed from outer case for
installation.
Afinished opening 24¼-inches wide x 17-inches high is
recommended(thisprovidesafinishedopening¼-inch
larger than the outer case on all sides). The lower left
inside corner of opening must be within 5 feet of an
appropriateelectricaloutlet(seeUse and Care manual for
airconditionerelectricalrequirements.)
When wall thickness exceeds 93/8-inches, opening must be
modified to allow air to enter side louvers on case (see
special instructions on back ). Do not install air conditioner
in walls thicker than 11¾-inches.
Introduction
AmanaCompact Room Air Conditioners canbe installed
through awall orinawindow. Window installationsrequire
anInstant Mount Mounting Kit (model number RAWK1).
Windowmounting kits can be purchasedfrom Authorized
AmanaDealers.
Thisinstructionsheetprovides guidelines for installing air
conditionerthroughanoutsidewall.

Air Conditioner Dimensions
Thefollowingfiguresshowthe outside dimensions of air
conditioner with chassis installed, and dimensions of outer
casewith chassis removed. Dimensions shownare with
thetop rail removed (bottom rail on case is permanently
attached and is included in height dimensions).

Inmasonry walls, cut or build a finished opening 17-inches
high by 24¼-inches wide. Secure outer case in wall with
mortaror concrete nails driven throughholes in sides of
outercase(predrill holes in case before securing).
Brick Veneer or Frame Wall Construction.
Cutorbuildroughopening large enough to allow a framed,
finishedopening17-incheshighand24¼-incheswide.
Secure outer case to framing material with nails or screws
driventhrough holes in sides ofouter case (predrill holes in
casebeforesecuring).

Placement of Outer Case in Opening
Center outer case in finished opening. Front of case must
project¾-inch (minimum) beyond inside wall in order to
attachairconditionerfrontframe.

¾-inch(minimum) beyond molding in order to attach air
conditionerfrontframe.

Back of case (outdoor side) must be at least 3/8-inch lower
thanfrontofcaseto ensure proper condensate drainage.

Installation in Wall Thicker Than 93/8-inches
Thesidelouversinoutercaseprovideventilationtoair
conditionercompressor and fan motor andmust not be
blocked. When installing unit in a wall over 93/8-inches
thick, provisions must be made in wall opening to ensure
freeair flow to the side louvers. This can be accomplished
bychamferingthevertical portions of the outside opening
asshown.
Ventilation louvers on top of case must not be obstructed.
Do not attempt to install unit in walls thicker than
11¾-inches.
