Quick Installation Steps for Administrators
An administrator should perform the following steps to get the handset started:
Remove the protective plastic sheet attached to the display, for proper function of the touchscreen.
1. Insert the micro-SIM card (Cellular handset versions only). See 2.1 Insert SIM Card, page 4.
Only a micro-SIM size card can be used in the handset.

The battery has an approximately 50% charge at delivery, and does not need to be charged
before use.
3. Change the language (if other than the default english). See 16.3 Languages Settings, page 84.
4. Enter the handset ID (Easy deployment). See 2.2 Install and Configure the Handset, page 4.
If not already done as prerequisite, perform Easy deployment. See the Configuration Manual,
Ascom Myco Smartphone.
5. Configure parameter settings for the site, or for the handset user. See the Configuration Manual,
Ascom Myco Smartphone for further information.
.1 Insert SIM Card
Cellular handset version only. Only micro-SIM size cards can be used in the handset.
1. Unlock the battery cover lock, and then remove the battery from the handset.

the micro-SIM in the SIM card slot, in the direction as shown on the label.
TIP: If needed, use a tweezer to hold the SIM card, and then push it into the slot.
3. Close the battery cover, and then lock it. The handset starts within seconds, if the battery is charged.
TIP: If the handset does not start, charge the battery, then long press the Power button to turn the
handset On.
Remove SIM Card
1. Open the battery cover lock. Press the clip to open it fully, and remove the Battery Pack.

card slot, and pull outwards, until the micro-SIM card can be removed (with your fingers, or with a
tweezer).
Be careful not to damage the inside of the SIM card slot.
. Install and Configure the Handset
The recommended method to install and configure a handset is through Easy Deployment, by using a pre-
configured staging WLAN. If Easy Deployment is not configured in the system, use QR code and NFC setup,
or install the handset manually through the admin settings menu.
4TD 93066EN / 14 December 2018 / Ver. N

User Manual
Ascom Myco Smartphone Quick Installation Steps for Administrators
For detailed instructions, see the Configuration Manual, Ascom Myco Smartphone.
Follow the instructions in the applicable section:
•2.2.1 Install Using Easy Deployment, page 5
•2.2.2 Install Using QR Codes and NFC, page 6
•2.2.3 Manual Installation, page 7
. .1 Install Using Easy Deployment
The handset is automatically installed and configured, if the Wi-Fi system is configured for Easy Deployment.
See the Configuration Manual, Ascom Myco Smartphone for information on how to configure Easy
Deployment in the Wi-Fi system.
Easy Deployment does not automatically provide the handset with a DECT subscription. Before
the handset can be used in DECT environment, the administrator must do one of the following:
• Manually subscribe the handset to the DECT system and log in to an extension manually.
• Enable the DECT Easy Registration feature for automatic DECT subscription and login.
If the handset is successfully installed after the Easy Deployment process, but has not received a
messaging number automatically, do the following:
1. If the handset is turned On, turn it Off and then On again.
2. When the handset displays: "No messaging number configured for this device", tap Setup number.
Figure 1. Handset displaying "No messaging number configured for this device."
3. When the handset displays "Enter messaging number", enter the number.
Caution
If a wrong number is entered, a factory reset must be done, and all handset configuration
parameter settings are restored to the default values. See the Configuration Manual,
Ascom Myco Smartphone
4. Tap Done.
5. If the Unite system is configured for user login, enter the user ID and password supplied by the system
administrator.

. . Install Using QR Codes and NFC
Quick installation and setup can be done by scanning a QR code, if Easy Deployment is unavailable. The
Setup QR code is created by a system administrator and contains the parameters necessary to install the
handset in the system. See the Configuration Manual, Ascom Myco Smartphone for instructions on how to
create Setup QR codes.
NFC can be used to share scanned deployment data with other Ascom Myco 2 GMS handsets. In this way it
is possible to avoid using the Android Setup Wizard for initial setup of the GMS for each handset. Note that
a Google Play account, if wanted, needs to be added manually.
Scan a Setup QR Code with an Ascom Myco Handset
1. On the App view, tap the Setup icon.
2. Turn the handset horizontally and position the handset so that the QR code fits within the scanning
window.
Figure 2. Scanning of QR code
3. If the scan is successful the Setup app closes automatically and the text "Deployment data applied
successfully" appears on screen.
Scan a Setup QR Code with an Ascom Myco Handset
1. On the App view, tap the Setup icon.
2. Turn the handset horizontally and position the handset so that the QR code fits within the scanning
window.
3. Choose between tapping on:
−Use for this device to use the scanned deployment data to set up the handset. If the deployment is
successful the Setup app closes automatically and the text "Deployment successful" appears on
screen.
