Important
·Please transport the PAMG2 and EPC onlyin the included packages.
·Alwaysuse the plastic bagsto prevent scratcheson the casing.

tionsin your listening room before you switch on the unitsforthe
first time after transport.

4 Installation and powersupply
Important
·For connecting or removing theEPCto/from the PAM G2, both
unitsand all other unitsof your audio system haveto be switched off
to prevent damage ofany of these devices.
·Pleasemakesure that all cablesare in absolute bestconditions!
Broken shieldsor short-cut cablescould damage the units.
4.1Placement
Important
·Place the EPC totheright orat least20 cm above/below of the
PAMG2.
·It isrecommended to place theEPC and PAMG2 into ahigh quality
rack or onto a stable table.
·Do not expose the unitsto direct sunlight.
·Do not cover the ventilation slots.
·Do not place theEPC or PAMG2in close range to heatsourceslike
radiators.
·Do not place the EPCor PAMG2 on topof otherunits,especially
not on topof power amplifiers,preamplifiersor similarthat produce
heat. The unitscould suffer damage from thermal overload.
·Do not usethe unitsin placeswhere it isexposed to vibrations.
·Do not place the unitscloseto loudspeakersor into the corner of a
room where it isexposed to highlevelsof sonic energy, which might
reduce the sound quality of the units.
4.2Mains connection
The mainsinput 2 *ison theback panel of the EPC. Toconnecttheunit to
mainsusethe includedmainscord. If you preferto useadifferentpower
cord make sure that it meetsthe specificationsfor your home country.

Important
·Do not connect the PAMG2 to mains!Thiswould compromisethe
quality of audio performance. The power supply of the PAMG2 is
provided by the EPCvia the 7-pin EPS/EPC cable. Useonly one
mainscordto connectthe EPC to mains.For thisreason, only one
mainscordisincluded.
Important
·The electrical specificationsof your home country mustmeet the
electrical specificationsprinted onto the back panel.
·The EPC isaClassI unit and mustbe earthed. Pleaseensure astable
earth connection. Phase('hot'pin) ismarked on the back panel
("PHASE") 10
·Neverpull the mainsplug while theEPCisswitched on! Before you pull
themainscord off itssocket 2 atthebackpanel, power down theunit
to stand-by mode and switch off the unit using mainsswitch 1 .
Only in casesof extended absence–like vacations–or if massive trouble
on the mainspower isto be expected you should switch off the EPCfrom
the mainsusing the mainsswitch 1 .Todisconnect the unit completely
from mainspull the mainsplug.
Tip
·The useof high quality mainscords(e.g. Audionet P10) couldim-
prove sound quality. Ask your local dealer for more information.
4.3Connection of EPC & PAM G2
For the connection of the EPC and PAMG2, a7-pin EPC/EPSconnec-
tion cable and one or two DB25 cablesareneeded (depending on the
input channelsof the PAMG2). Aschematic of theconnecteddevices
can be found on page 13.
To connectboth units, follow these steps:
1. Make sure both PAMG2 and EPC are switched off anddisconnected
from the mains.
2. Connect the EPC andPAMG2 with the included 7-pin EPC/EPS
connectioncable fromsocket 6of the EPC to thecorresponding
socket 13 on the back panel of the PAMG2. The shape of the plug
preventsany wrong polarity.

3. Now connect thePhono Control Busofthe EPC and PAMG2. If
your PAMG2 isequipped with one input channel, connect socket4
at the rearof the EPC with the appropriate socket 14 of the
PAMG2 using the included DB25 cable.
If yourPAMG2 hasasecond input channel, connect socket 5 at the
rear of the EPC with the appropriate socket 15 of the PAMG2 using
the secondincluded DB25 cable(see section "Connection diagram"
on page 13).
4. Connect only the EPC to mains.
5. Switch on the EPC at the back panel first.
6. Usekey power at the front panel of the EPC / PAMG2 or the keys
Power On or PowerToggle *) of theAudionet System Remote
Control Harmony One to switch on theEPC. Both, EPC and
PAMG2 are now ready to use.
7. Toswitch off the EPCinto stand-by mode, usethe key power onthe
front panel of the EPC / PAMG2 or PowerOff or
PowerToggle *) of the Audionet SystemRemoteControl Har-
mony One.
Important
·Never switch on or offthe EPC on itsback panel while the PAMG2
isswitchedon.
Tip
·Place the EPC to the right or at least20 cm above/belowof the PAM
G2. Increasing the distance of both units,willminimize the influence
of the mainstransformersin the EPC.
·Useahighquality cable (for example theAudionet P10) to connect
the EPC to mains. The sound will improve.

4.5Audionet Link
For your convenience,the EPC can be controlled remotely by one of
Audionet'smulti channel preamplifiers(e.g. MAP or MAP 1) aswell as
one of Audionet'sstereo preamplifiers(e.g. PREG2,PRE1 G3) using
the Audionet Link interface.
You only need aoptical 'Toslink'cable toconnect the Audionet Link
output of your Audionet preamplifier to the Audionet Link input IN 8 of
the EPC.
In caseyouwould like to automatically switch on/off further Audionet
unitsin your system using the Audionet Link interface, please connect
the Audionet Link output OUT 7 of yourEPC to theAudionetLink
input of the next Audionet unit (e.g. poweramplifier, tuner, CDplayer
etc.) using a simple 'Toslink'cable.
Note
·The 'switch on'signal isissued to any further Audionet unitsdaisy
chained tothe Audionet Link output of your EPC with alittle delay
to avoid allunitsswitching on at the samemoment,which could
causean overload of your mainsfuse.

5 Inputsand outputs
Important
·During connecting and removing of turntables or preamplifiers to
the PAM G2 all units of your audio system have to be switched offto
prevent damage of the PAM G2 or any of the other connected units.
·Pleasemakesure that all cablesare in absolute bestconditions!
Broken shieldsor short-cut cablescould damage the PAM G2
and/or anyother connected unit.
5.1Inputs
The PAMG2 hastwostereo lineinputs9 and 11 to connect twopick-
up armsorturntables.The maximal adjustable input capacitance is
420 pF and the minimal adjustable input resistanceis100 .If other
valuesare needed to meet the electrical characteristic of the pickup, the
RCA sockets C/R ext.19 and 20 can be used to addexternal resistors
or capacitors(see section 'Furtheradjustments'on page 35).
The gold plated screws(GND)10 are for connecting the turntable
grounds.
Note
·The PAMG2 isoptionally available with one or two input channels.
Dependingon the model, one or two pick-up armsor turntablescan
be connected.
5.2Outputs
The PAMG2 isequipped with one RCA output LINE 12 aswell asone
balanced (XLR) output BALANCED 18 for the left and right channel to
connect theunit to your preamplifier.
UsetheRCA output LINE 12 to connectthe PAMG2 to your pre-
amplifier using high quality interconnectors(e.g. Audionet C100). Alter-
natively, you may connect the pre-amplifier using the balanced(XLR)
outputs BALANCED 18 in caseyour preamplifier doesnot support RCA
(line) inputs.

6 Operating
6.1Powering up
Firstof all, pleasemake sure your EPC and PAMG2 are connected cor-
rectly (seesection 'Mainsconnection'on page 10 and'Connection of EPC
& PAM G2'on page 11).
The EPC isastand-byunit. Pleaseoperatethe mainsswitch 1 on the
back panel.The display showsawelcome messagefor abriefmoment.
After that the EPC isin stand-by mode.
Only in casesof extended absence (like vacations)or if massivetrouble
on the mainspoweristo beexpected (e.g. thunder storms)it isrecom-
mended todisconnectthe EPC from the mains.While the EPC isin
stand-by mode, operatemainsswitch 1 onthe back panel. Todisconnect
the EPC from mainscompletely,you haveto pull the mainscordoff the
mainssocket 2 .
Important
·Never pullthe mainsplug while the EPCand PAM G2 are
switched on! Before you pull the mainscord off its mainssocket
2 ,power down the EPCto stand-by mode and switch off the
unit using mainsswitch 2 at the backpanel.
6.2Switching on and off
Topower up the EPCfrom stand-by mode, press the power key on the
front panel of the EPC / PAMG2. The EPC displaysthemessage
Waking up....In casethe mainsplug hasthe incorrect polarization a
warning will appear inthe display(see section'Mainsphasedetection'on
page 17). After that the EPC and the connected PAMG2 are in normal
operating mode and ready to use.
If you would like toswitch off the EPC and the PAMG2, pleasepress the
power keyon the front panel of the EPC / PAMG2. The display shows
the message Going to sleep. .. andthe EPCentersthe stand-by
mode. The connected PAMG2 isalso turned off.
Note
·You can alsousethe power key on the front panel of the PAMG2to
switch both unitson or off.
·Of course, you may switch on/off the EPC with the Audionet System
Remote Control Harmony One.For detailed informationpleaserefer
to section 'Screen 2'on page 25.

6.3 Mains phase detection
The correctpolarizationof mainsisimportant for reasonsof audioclarity
and stability. Pleaseconnect the mainscordthat the 'hot'pin of the wall
outlet isconnected to the pin marked 'phase'3 of the mainsinput 2 on
the backpanel. TheEPC recognizestheincorrect polarization of the
mainsplugautomatically. Right after switching on theunit from stand-by
mode by pressing the power key on the frontpanel of the EPC / PAMG2
the following messagewill appear in the display in casethemainspolari-
zation isincorrect:
Attention: ◄
Mains phase incorrect ◄
If you read the above message, switch off the unit by pressing the power
key. Pleasewait until the display no longer reads Going to sleep....
Disconnectthe EPC from mainsby operating the mainsswitch 1 .Now
pull the mainsplug and re-insert it into the mainssocketrotated by 180°.
If you switch on the unit again, the warning should not appear now.
Important
·If the EPC issuesthe mainspolarization warning or nowarning at all
for both positionsof the mainsplug, check the connection to earth of
your mainssocket and mainscord. You have to ensure astable
connection to earth for the mainsphasedetection of the EPCto
workcorrectly!
6.4 Using Audionet Link
If your EPCisconnected to an Audionet preamplifier via Audionet Link,
usethe remote control of the preamplifier to automatically switchon/off
the EPC (and all other Audionet unitsalso connected via AudionetLink).
For setting up the necessary connectionspleaserefer tosection 'Audionet
Link'on page 14.
Note
·If you switch off your Audionet chain usingAudionet Link, it isim-
portant to wait until all devicesare shut down beforeyou restart the
system.
·Independently from the Audionet Link interface, you can switch
on/off yourEPC manually at any time by using the power key on the
front plate of EPC, PAMG2 or the remote control.

6.5Control elements on the front panels
6.5.1 PAM G2control elements
The frontpanel hastwo keysto control the PAMG2 (seesection
'Overview front panels'on page 7).

Note
·The two keyson the PAMG2 front panel aredesigned for the usage
without the EPC. Nevertheless they keep their functionality when an
EPC isconnected to the PAMG2.
6.5.2 EPC control elements
The front panel hasfour keysto control theEPC and thusthe PAMG2
(see section'Overview front panels'on page 7). Withthesekeysyou can
control all functionsaswell asallsetup optionsto adjustthe unit to your
preferences(see section'Setup menu'on page 26).

Important
·If your PAMG2 isequipped with justone input channel, switching
the channelusing the up key of the EPC or input key ofthe PAMG2
isdisabled asonly Input 1 isavailable.

6.6 Display
In the normal operating mode thedisplay providesinformation about the
current settingsof the connectedPAMG2. You can chooseamong three
different formats.
a) Set Display: Name & Values
Thisisthe default setting on delivery of the EPC. The display showsthe
number of the currently selectedPAMG2 input channel, the fully user-
definable channel name and itssettings.
b) Set Display: Values only
The display showsthe number of the currently selected PAMG2 input
channel and itssettings.
c) Set Display: Name only
The display showsthe number of the currently selected PAMG2 input
channel and the fully user-definable channelname

Assoonas you enter the setupmenu by pushing the set key, thedisplay
changestoshow information related to the selected menu item.For fur-
ther displaydetailsrefer to the description of each menu item in section
'Setup menu'starting from page 26.
Note
·After 10 minuteswithout any user interaction the 'display saver'is
invoked automatically. The display then showsonly the number and
the name ofthe currently selectedinput channel. Pleaserefer to sec-
tion 'Set Dim Level'on page 30forfurther information on the 'display
saver'mode.
6.7 Input selection
Pushthe key up or down on thefront panel of the EPC, to selectthe de-
sired input channel of the PAMG2. Pushthe down key to select Input 1
and the up key for Input 2.
Important
·If your PAMG2 isequipped with only one channel, the input selec-
tion isdisabled and channel switching isnot possible.In thiscase,
only Input1 isavailable.
Note
·You can alsousethe input key onthe frontpanel of thePAMG2 to
select the active input channel.
·Using the Audionet System Remote Control Harmony One,selectan
input channel by simply pressing the corresponding key (see section
'Screen 1'on page24), or usethe keys Vol+ and Vol- to switch
between the two input channels.
