Chapter 1. Special Functions
Specialfunctionsavailable on the ST30 Bidata are:
1. Calibration lock/unlock
2. Boatshow mode
3. Damping
Forsecurity reasons,extended calibrationfeatures are selected byan
extended hold (14seconds)of aand DEPTH until CAL isdisplayedfor the
secondtime,followed bymomentarydepressionof both the SPEED and
RESET keys.
Tocycle the features,press theDEPTHkeyuntil the requiredoptionis
displayed.
1.1 Calibration Lock/Unlock
Calibrationlock/unlockeliminatesthe risk of accidentally changing allbutthe
extended calibration values.
Thisfeatureis particularly useful foroperatorsofcharterboats who spenda
greatdealof time tuningthe pilot tothe vessel,onlyto find acustomer alters
thesettings at alaterdate.
Thisfeatureisdisplayedas C1orC0.
C1= unlocked (normalaccess)
C0= calibrationislocked(noaccess).
Themode is changedbypressingthe RESET key.
Calibrationlock/unlock isstored by pressing aandDEPTH for2seconds.
1.2 Boatshow Mode
Boatshowmode(S0 = disabled,S1 =enabled)is a demonstration
programmeto showthe featuresoftheinstrument.
Themode is changed bypressingRESET.
Note:Boatshow Modeautomatically resets tonormalmode ifatransduceris
connecteddirectlyto theinstrumentor ifthe instrumentispowereddown.
However, boatshowmode can be storedby:
1. Settingthe instrument to repeater mode
2. Selecting Boatshow Mode
3. Exitingfrom repeater mode

1.3 Damping
Dampingcontrols the sensitivity to speed and depth changes detectedby
thetransducer.Thedampingrangeis from 1to 15;thefactory settingis 04.
Tochangethe damping factor,press RESETor a,asrequired to obtainthe
desired setting.
Dampingis storedbypressing aand DEPTHfor2seconds.

Assemble the diffuser (8) and foam deflector (7) onto the PCB (6) taking care when locating the lower end under the backlight LEDs.

Chapter 3. PCB Details
3.1 PCB Setting
TheST30 Bidata andDepth instrumentPCBs are thesame.Therefore,it is
necessary toensure thatthePCB iscorrectly set afterfitting toa unit.
1. Connectthe instrumentto a 12 volt powersupply
2. Observe thedisplay.If thePCB iscorrectly set thedisplaywillshow
speed and depth information
3. Ifthe displayshowsunintelligibleinformation the PCBis set foruse as
adepthinstrument.
Note: ThePCB canbereset asadepth unitasfollows.
1. Turn the powersupply to theinstrument off
2. Pressand hold downallfourkeys
3. Turn the powersupplyon and observethedisplay
4. Depthandspeedonlyinformation should now be displayed.
