yFacilities offered by Microsoft Windows95, Windows98, Windows 2000and
Microsoft Windows NT4.
yFeatures provided by standard Caller Display telephones or Caller Display units.
All of these can be used with theArgent family to provide a fully integrated voice and
data system with features otherwise only available on expensive call centre systems.
The Alchemy Series Argent family will enhance your communications by bringing voice
and data integration to your desktop, provide you with a range of systems designed to
make you more effective and allow you to enjoy the fruits of your consequent success.
This Reference Manual provides technical information on the ArgentWAN3, including;
Safety Declarations, Port Labelling and Pin-Out Information, Cable Specifications and
Technical Specifications.
For configuration information and an overview of the advanced features available on the
Alchemy Series Argent family, please refer to the Help Text files on the Alchemy
Installation Wizard CD provided with the Argent system unit. This is designed to make

PORT CONNECTIONS
This section provides information on the use of the ArgentWAN3 ports. It covers:
yLAN Port.
yDTE Port.
yDC Power Input Connector.
yConnection to an X.21, V.35 or V.24/V.28 Leased Line.
LAN PORT
Connection to the LAN from the ArgentWAN3 is made via the 10BaseT port on the front
of the unit. This port is labelled as follows:
LAN
The ArgentWAN3 10BaseT LAN port is a MDI type port and can be connected to a hub
without the need for a crossover cable. If the ArgentWAN3 is located in the same cabinet
as the ArgentOffice it can be connected to one of the hub ports on the ArgentOffice via a
LAN Interconnect cable (Sales Feature ARG-HSIC, Part No.: CABETHNN01M0PP00).
DTE PORT
The DTE port is presented as a standard 25 way D-Type socket on the rear of the unit.
This port is used as a diagnostic aid. This port is labelled:
DTE
DC POWER INPUT CONNECTOR
The Argent range of products use a Plug Top PSU module to provide DC power.
The Plug Top PSU is plugged into a suitable mains power outlet and provides a 12V
unregulated DC output. This unregulated DC is fed into the unit via the DC Input port.
This port is labelled:

CONNECTION TO AN X.21, V.35 OR V.24/V.28 LEASED LINE
The Leased Line ports on the rear of the ArgentWAN3 are labelled as follows:
WAN1WAN2WAN3
As viewed from the rear of the unit.
These ports support a single synchronous data connection, which can be X.21, V.35 or
V.24/V.28. The selection of the required interface is automatically determined from the
pin-out of the cable plugged into the ‘WAN’ port.
Connection to a Digital Leased Circuit is made by connecting the WAN port on the rear
of the ArgentWAN3 to the supplied Network Terminating Unit (NTU) via the
appropriate X.21, V.35 or V.24 cable. This cable can be purchased from any Alchemy
Series reseller/distributor by ordering the appropriate Sales Feature as detailed in the table
below, or the user can supply his own cable so long as the criteria set out in Cables, page
Error! Bookmark not defined. are adhered to.
