Chapter 2: Getting started
Feature description
Avaya E129 is a SIP-based IP phone that small-to-medium business can use for enterprise
communication. The phone provides single SIP account with advanced security protection for
privacy and broad interoperability with most of the third-party SIP devices.

• Two call appearances
• A 128 x 40 graphical LCD
• Three softkeys
• Dual network ports with integrated PoE
• Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) with Plantronics headset

Deskphone stand
You can either wall mount your phone or attach the stand to the phone that Avaya provides.

Attaching the stand
Procedure
1. Hold the arrow-marked face of the stand towards the LAN and computer port so
that the arrows are facing down.
2. Insert the hooks of the side that does not have arrow marks.
3. Press the hooks on the arrow-marked side towards the slot, and push them down
to insert the hooks in the slots.
Detaching the stand
Procedure
1. Press the hooks on arrow-marked side of the stand slightly towards back.
2. Simultaneously pull out the hooks of the opposite side from the slots.

Phone Book Displays contacts list.
Voice Mail Retrieves the voice mail.
Menu Displays menu or selects the
highlighted option.
Navigation keys Moves the highlight up,
down, left, and right.

Not registered The phone is not registered
to the SIP server.
Registered The phone is registered to
the SIP server.
Handset The handset is off hook.
Speaker The speaker is enabled.
Headset The headset is enabled.
Do not disturb The Do Not Disturb feature is
enabled.
Call forward The call forward feature is
enabled.
Mute The phone is on mute.
SRTP The phone is using SRTP.

Chapter 3: Outgoing calls
Making a call
Procedure
1. Perform one of the following actions:
• Lift the handset.
• Press Speaker.
• Press Headset.
2. Use the keypad to enter a phone number.
3. Press Call.
Making a call when on another call
Before you begin
You must be on at least one active call.
About this task
Use the following procedure to make another call when you are already on an active call. You
can make only two calls simultaneously.
Procedure
1. Press Flash.
2. Use the keypad to enter a phone number.
3. Press Call.

Moving between calls
Before you begin
You must be on two calls simultaneously.
Procedure
Press Flash.
Your deskphone puts the current call on hold and resumes the other call.
Making a call using the phone book
Before you begin
You must have at least one entry in the phone book.
Procedure
1. Press Phone Book.
2. Select the contact from the required list or group.
3. Press Call.
Making a call using the call history
Procedure
1. Press Menu > Call History.
2. Select from the following call types:
• Answered Calls
• Dialed Calls
• Missed Calls
• Transferred Calls
• Forwarded Calls

3. Select the required number.
4. Press Call.
Making a call using the IP address
Procedure
1. Press Menu > Direct IP Call.
2. Enter the IP address in the dotted decimal format.
3. Press More > IPv4 or More > IPv6 as required.
Redialing the last dialed number
Procedure
1. Perform one of the following actions:
• Lift the handset.
• Press Speaker.
• Press Headset.
2. Press Call.
Making a call using off-hook autodialing
Before you begin
You must have an autodial number configured for your deskphone.
About this task
Use the following procedure when you want the deskphone to call a preconfigured autodial
number as soon as you lift the handset. Only your administrator can configure an autodial
number and enable the autodial feature. You can make a frequently dialed number the autodial
number.

Procedure
Lift the handset.
The deskphone dials the number that your administrator configured as the autodial
number.

Chapter 4: Incoming calls
Answering a call
Procedure
Perform one of the following actions:
• Lift the handset, or press any of the following:
•Answer.
•Speaker.
•Headset.
Rejecting a call
Procedure
Press Reject.
Your deskphone stops ringing and displays the Home screen.
Answering a call when on another call
About this task
If you get an incoming call while you are on an active call, the deskphone plays a call waiting
tone to indicate the incoming call.
Procedure
Press Flash or press Answer.

The deskphone puts the first call on hold and moves to the second call.
Making a blind transfer of a call
Before you begin
You must answer the call before transferring the call to another phone.
About this task
A blind transfer is when you transfer an active call to another phone without announcing the
call transfer. The phone to which you transfer the call displays your number instead of the
transferred-call number.
Procedure
1. Press Transfer.
2. Perform one of the following tasks:
• Use the keypad to enter the number to which you want to transfer the call.
• Select the number from the phone book.
3. Press Call.
Your phone transfers the call to the selected number and disconnects.
Making an attended transfer of a call
Before you begin
• Your administrator must enable the auto-attended transfer feature for your phone.
• You must answer the call before transferring the call to another phone.
About this task
A attended transfer is when you transfer an active call to another phone only after announcing
the call transfer.
Procedure
1. Press Flash.
The phone puts the active call on hold.
2. Use the keypad to enter the number to which you want to transfer the call.

4. Announce the call when the contact answers your call.
5. Press Transfer.
6. Press Flash.
Your phone transfers the active call to the selected number and disconnects.
