Quick Start Guide
AV-BSBL
Thank you for purchasing this product. This guide will
provide you with a brief summary of the steps involved in
deploying the Folding Steady Burning Barrette with tie-down
installation.
Your system will consist of: 1 x Folding Steady Burning Barrette, 2 x Stanchions (or Support Pole),
2 x 2 in. Stainless Couplings, 2 x Mounting Caps, 8 x Ground Stakes, 4 x 12 ft. Line (Single Loop),
4 x 14 in. Line (Double Loop), 4 x Cam Clips
Required Tools: Mallet (User Supplied)
Step 1: Gather All Components
Lay all the parts on the ground in preparation for
assembly.
Step 2: Open Barrette Latch
a. Lift the handle of the buttery latch to unlock.
b. Unfold the Barrette.
Step 3: Straighten the Barrette
a. Straighten the barrette until it is fully extended.
b. Secure the two latches.

Step 4: Install Mounting Cap
a. Slide two U-bolts onto barrette between the rst
and second light head.
b. Flip barrette over.
c. With at side down, align the mounting cap
holes with the U-bolt. Ensure the arrow on
mounting cap is pointing towards the lights.
d. Place (4) at washers over U-bolts and thread (4)
hex nuts until ngertight.
e. Thread coupling onto mounting cap.
f. Repeat on other end.

Step 5: Assemble Stanchions
a. Thread frangible coupling into the threaded ange.
b. Thread support leg into the other end of frangible
coupling.
c. Repeat steps for second stanchion.
Step 6: Insert Stanchion on Barrette
a. Flip stanchion upside down.
b. Insert the stanchion into the mounting cap.
c. Tighten the coupling in an upward motion until
secured to the mounting cap.
d. Repeat on other side.
Step 8: Set Up Tie-Down Stakes
a. Insert tie-down stake into the ground
approximately 6-7 feet from one of the stanchions
on the front side of the Barrette.
b. Use a mallet to pound a stake securely into the
ground.
c. Repeat steps from the back side of the Barrette.
d. Repeat steps on the opposite side.

Step 7: Set Up Barrette
a. Flip entire Barrette assembly over so it is supported
by the stanchions.
b. Place Barrette in desired location.
c. Place a stake outside the threaded ange of the
stanchion.
d. Use a mallet to pound the stake at an angle into the
ground to keep the Barrette upright.
e. Repeat on opposite side of the stanchion.
f. Repeat steps to stake other stanchion.

Step 10: Set Up Tie-Down at Stanchion
a. Wrap 12 ft. single loop line around the top of a
stanchion.
b. Thread the tail end through the loop.
c. Pull the line until the loop is taut around stanchion.
Step 9: Set Up Tie-Down At Stake
a. Thread one end of the double loop line through the
loop of the other end.
b. Place around top of the tie-down stake.
c. Pull the line until the loop is taut around stake.
d. Clip the carabiner of the cam clip to the other end
of the loop.
Step 11: Feed the Line into Cam Clip
a. Pull the line from the stanchion to the ground stake
located directly in front of the stanchion.
b. Take the cam clip from the ground stake tie-down
assembly, and feed the tail end of the line into the
cam locking mechanism of the clip.
c. Pull the line through the cam clip to eliminate any
slack.
Step 12: Complete Tie-Down Procedure
Repeat steps 9-12 until the Folding Steady Burning
Barrette is fully supported on 4 sides.

Step 14: Connect AC Long Lines and Optional
Solar
a. Connect the AC long lines to the AC Input on the
Battery Box.
Note: Please proceed to Step b for optional solar
panel installation instructions.
b. Connect the Solar Panel cables to the Solar Panel
inputs on the Battery Box.
Step 13: Connect to Battery Box
a. Connect Barrette PCU power cables to the Battery
Box.
b. Refer to MALSR Cable Layout diagram in the
Approach Lighting Installation & Service Manual
for direction on which barrettes connect to the
Battery Box and which barrettes connect to the next
barrette in line.
