•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.
Selectthesamefreuencyasthepowerlinefreuency.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytime,selectFlicker-reduced.

Ajustthefocus

3.EnableAllowIRilluminationandSynchronizeIRilluminationtousethecamera’sIRlightwhennightmodeisactivated.
Note
Ifyousettheshifttonightmodetooccurwhenit’sbrighter,theimageremainssharperastherewillbelesslow-light
noise.Ifyousettheshifttooccurwhenit’sdarker,theimagecolorsaremaintainedforlonger,buttherewillbemore
imageblurduetolow-lightnoise.
Reucenoiseinlow-lightconitions
Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,youcanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:
•Adjustthetrade-offbetweennoiseandmotionblur.GotoSettings>Image>EposureandmovetheBlur-noise
trade-offslidertowardLownoise.
•Settheexposuremodetoautomatic.
Note
Ahighmaxshuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.
•Toslowdowntheshutterspeed,setmaxshuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.
•Reducesharpnessintheimage.

Whenyoureducethemaxgain,theimagecanbecomedarker.

Maximizetheetailsinanimage
Important
Ifyoumaximizethedetailsinanimage,thebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.

•TurnoffZipstreamfunctionality.
Hanlesceneswithstrongbacklight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

Withmaximumbitrate,youcansetatargetbitratetohandlebitratelimitationsinyoursystem.Youmayseeadeclineinimage
ualityorframeratewhentheinstantaneousbitrateiskeptbelowthespeciedtargetbitrate.Youcanchoosetoeitherprioritize
imageualityorframerate.Werecommendthatyoucongurethetargetbitratetoahighervaluethantheexpectedbitrate.This
givesyouamarginforadditionalcomplexitythatneedstobecaptured.

Averagebitrate(ABR)
Withaveragebitrate,thebitrateisautomaticallyadjustedoveralongertimescale.Thisissoyoucanmeetthespeciedtargetand
providethebestvideoualitybasedonyouravailablestorage.Bitrateishigherinsceneswithalotofactivity,comparedtostatic
scenes.Youaremorelikelytogetbetterimageualitywhenneededwhenusingtheaveragebitrateoption.Youcandenethetotal
storagereuiredtostorethevideostreamforaspeciedamountoftime(retentiontime)whenimageualityisadjustedtomeetthe
speciedtargetbitrate.Specifytheaveragebitratesettingsinoneofthefollowingways:
•Tocalculatetheestimatedstorageneed,setthetargetbitrateandtheretentiontime.

TheMotionJPEGstreamusesconsiderableamountsofbandwidth,butprovidesexcellentimageualityandaccesstoeveryimage

H.264isalicensedtechnology.TheAxisproductincludesoneH.264viewingclientlicense.Toinstalladditionalunlicensed

JPEGformatandbyasmuchas50%comparedtotheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace
arereuiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,highervideoualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
