Toimproveimagequalityforspecicsurveillancescenes,useeposuremodes.Eposuremodesletsyoucontrolaperture,shutter
speed,andgain.GotoVideo>Image>Exposureandselectbetweenthefollowingeposuremodes:
•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticeposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,foreampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,foreampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytime,selectFlicker-reduced.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Tolockthecurrenteposuresettings,selectHoldcurrent.
BenetfromIRlightinlow-lightconditionsbyusingnightmode
Yourcamerausesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheday.Butasthevisiblelightdiminishes,colorimagesbecomeless
brightandclear.Ifyouswitchtonightmodewhenthishappens,thecamerausesbothvisibleandnear-infraredlighttodeliverbright
anddetailedblack-and-whiteimagesinstead.Youcansetthecameratoswitchtonightmodeautomatically.
1.GotoVideo>Image>Day-nightmode,andmakesurethattheIR-cutlterissettoAuto.
2.Tosetatwhatlightlevelyouwantthecameratoswitchtonightmode,movethehresholdslidertowardBrightorDark.
Note
Ifyousettheswitchtonightmodetooccurwhenit’sbrighter,theimageremainssharperasthereislesslow-lightnoise.If
yousettheswitchtooccurwhenit’sdarker,theimagecolorsaremaintainedforlonger,butthereismoreimageblurdue
tolow-lightnoise.
Reducenoiseinlow-lightconditions
Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,youcanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:
•Adjustthetrade-offbetweennoiseandmotionblur.GotoVideo>Image>ExposureandmovetheBlur-noisetrade-off
slidertowardLownoise.
•Settheeposuremodetoautomatic.
Note
Ahighmashuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.
•Toslowdowntheshutterspeed,setmashuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.

Important
Ifyoumaimizethedetailsinanimage,thebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.
•Makesuretoselectthecapturemodethathasthehighestresolution.
•GotoVideo>Stream>Generalandsetthecompressionaslowaspossible.
•Belowtheliveviewimage,clickandinVideoformat,selectMJPEG.
•GotoVideo>Stream>ZipstreamandselectOff.
Handlesceneswithstrongbaclight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

thatspecicpan/tiltrange.Whenyouhavesetafocusrecallareaandthecameraentersthatareaintheliveview,thecamera
recallsthepreviouslysavedfocus.It’senoughtocoverhalfoftheareaforthecameratorecallthefocus.
Clicktoselectaguardtour,thenclickStarttoplaytheguardtour.Or,clickSetuptogototheguardtourspage.
Clicktomanuallyturnontheheaterforaselectedperiodoftime.
Clicktostartacontinuousrecordingofthelivevideostream.Clickagaintostoptherecording.Ifarecordingisongoing,it
willresumeautomaticallyafterareboot.
Clicktoshowthestoragethatisconguredforthedevice.Tocongurethestorage,youneedtobeloggedinasan

Clicktoaccessmoresettings:
•Videoformat:Selecttheencodingformattouseintheliveview.
•Clientstreaminformation:Turnontoshowdynamicinformationaboutthevideostreamusedbythebrowserthat
showsthelivevideostream.Thebitrateinformationdiffersfromtheinformationshowninatetoverlay,becauseof
differentinformationsources.Thebitrateintheclientstreaminformationisthebitrateofthelastsecond,andit
comesfromtheencodingdriverofthedevice.Thebitrateintheoverlayistheaveragebitrateofthelast5seconds,
anditcomesfromthebrowser.Bothvaluescoveronlytherawvideostreamandnottheadditionalbandwidth
generatedwhenit’stransportedoverthenetworkthroughUDP/TCP/HTTP.
•Adaptivestream:Turnontoadapttheimageresolutiontotheviewingclient’sactualdisplayresolution,toimprove
theusereperienceandhelppreventapossibleoverloadoftheclient’shardware.Theadaptivestreamisonly
appliedwhenyouviewthelivevideostreaminthewebinterfaceinabrowser.Whenadaptivestreamisturnedon,
themaimumframerateis30fps.Ifyoutakeasnapshotwhileadaptivestreamisturnedon,itwillusetheimage
resolutionselectedbytheadaptivestream.
•Levelgrid:Clicktoshowthelevelgrid.Thegridhelpsyoudecideiftheimageishorizontallyaligned.Click
tohideit.
•Pixelcounter:Clicktoshowthepielcounter.Dragandresizethebotocontainyourareaofinterest.Youcan
alsodenethepielsizeofthebointheWidthandHeightelds.
•Refresh:Clicktorefreshthestillimageintheliveview.
•PZcontrols:TurnontodisplayPTZcontrolsintheliveview.
Clicktoshowtheliveviewatfullresolution.Ifthefullresolutionislargerthanyourscreensize,usethesmallerimageto
navigateintheimage.
