Hinweise
Dieses Gerät darf nicht in Anwendungen einge-
setzt werden, wo die Sicherheit von Personen von
der Gerätefunktion abhängt.
Mit dem CE-Zeichen bestätigen wir, dass
unsere Produkte den Anforderungen der EG-Richtlinien
89/336/EWG (EMV) und des EMV-Gesetzes entsprechen.
In unserem EMV-Labor, das von der DATech für
Prüfungen der elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit
akkreditiert ist, wurde der Nachweis erbracht, dass die
Balluff-Produkte die EMV-Anforderungen der
Fachgrundnormen erfüllen:
− EN 50 081-2 (Emission) und
− EN 50 082-2 (Störfestigkeit)
Anzeige- und Bedienelemente
Gelbe LED
Ausgangsfunktionsanzeige: Die gelbe LED leuchtet, wenn
der Ausgang aktiv ist.
Zweifarbige LED:
Stabilitäts- und Error-Anzeige: Die LED leuchtet grün,
wenn der Sensor betriebsbereit ist und in einem sicheren
Bereich arbeitet.
Die LED blinkt abwechselnd rot und grün, falls der Sensor
falsch eingestellt ist.
SET Taste: Mit dieser Taste wird der Sensor eingelernt.
Das Einlernen kann auch über den Teach-In Eingang
erfolgen. Dabei ist die SET Taste außer Funktion.

Installation
Der Sensor kann auf drei verschiedene Arten befestigt
werden:
1. Mit zwei Schrauben (M4) und Unterlagscheiben über
die Gehäusebohrungen
2. Über einen Haltewinkel (separat lieferbar)
3. Mit Hilfe von speziellen Klemmteilen (separat lieferbar)
und dem Schwalbenschwanz-Profil des Gehäuses.
Die Tastweite wird ab dem optischen Fenster gemessen.
Der M12-Steckeranschluss ist um 270° drehbar und hat
Rastpositionen bei 0°, 90°, 180° und 270°.

Externes Einlernen (Teach-In)
Der Sensor kann mit einem externen +V DC Signal auf
PIN 2 (Teach-In) eingelernt werden.
Dazu den Teach-In Eingang vor dem Einschalten auf
+V DC legen. Dadurch wird die SET-Taste gesperrt und
ein externes Einlernen ermöglicht. Ein +V DC Signal
entspricht einem Tastendruck.
Um die Tastensperre aufzuheben, den Sensor ausschal-
ten, die Verbindung zu +V DC unterbrechen (alternativ auf
0 V legen) und den Sensor wieder einschalten.
Zeitverzögerung einschalten
Mit dieser Funktion kann eine Abfallverzögerung von
20 ms aktiviert werden.
1. Die SET-Taste gedrückt halten, bis die zweifarbige LED
erlischt, dann blinkt und wieder erlischt. Jetzt die Taste
loslassen.
Falls die Zeitverzögerung ausgeschaltet ist, blinkt die
grüne LED mehrmals hintereinander jeweils 2 mal kurz.
Falls die Zeitverzögerung eingeschaltet ist, blinkt die
grüne LED mehrmals hintereinander jeweils 4 mal kurz.
2. Um die Zeitverzögerung umzuschalten (ein- oder
ausschalten), die SET-Taste jeweils einmal kurz
betätigen. Der neue Status wird von der zweifarbigen
LED angezeigt (siehe Punkt 1).

Einstellung
Zwei Einstellmöglichkeiten stehen zur Verfügung:
− Standard-Einstellung: Normaler Einstellvorgang
(Auslieferungszustand). Mit dieser Einstellung kann nur
eine Dunkelschaltung realisiert werden.
− Die Feineinstellung nur dann verwenden, wenn die
Standard-Einstellung zu keinem Erfolg führt, das heißt
wenn die Kontrastunterschiede zu gering sind. Mit der
Feineinstellung kann sowohl eine Hell- als auch eine
Dunkelschaltung realisiert werden.
Einlernvorgang (Teach in)
Standard-Einstellung (nur für Dunkelschaltung):
Bei Dunkelschaltung erkennt der Sensor Objekte mit einer
geringeren Lichtintensität als deren Hintergrund.
1. Das Objekt bzw. die Marke positionieren.
2. Die SET Taste gedrückt halten, bis die zweifarbige LED
erlischt.
3. Die SET Taste los lassen und abwarten, bis die LED
grün leuchtet. Der Sensor ist betriebsbereit. Die gelbe
LED leuchtet auf, sobald das Objekt bzw. die Marke
erkannt wird und der Ausgang aktiv ist.
Feineinstellung (für Dunkel- oder Hellschaltung):
Mit dieser Einstellung werden feinere Kontrastunter-
schiede erkannt.
Der Sensor wählt automatisch die richtige Schaltung: Die
Hellschaltung bei helleren Marken bzw. Objekten als
deren Hintergrund, die Dunkelschaltung bei Marken bzw.
Objekten die dunkler sind als deren Hintergrund.
1. Das Objekt bzw. die Marke positionieren.
2. Die SET Taste gedrückt halten, bis die zweifarbige LED
erlischt und anschließend grün blinkt. Dann SET Taste
los lassen.
3. Den Hintergrund in den Strahlengang positionieren.
4. Die SET Taste erneut gedrückt halten, bis die
zweifarbige LED erlischt. Der Sensor ist betriebsbereit.
Die gelbe LED leuchtet auf, sobald das eingelernte
Objekt bzw. die Marke erkannt wird und der Ausgang
aktiv ist.

Advisory
The system is not permitted for use in applications
where personal safety depends on proper function
of the device.
The CE-Marking means that our products
conform to the requirements of the EC Guidelines
89/336/EWG (EMC) and the EMC Statute.
Testing in our EMC Laboratory, which is accredited by
DATech for Testing of Electromagnetic Compatibility, has
shown that these Balluff products satisfy the EMC
requirements of the following Generic Standards:
− EN 50 081-2 (Emission) and
− EN 50 082-2 (Noise Immunity)
Display and operating elements
Yellow LED
Output function indicator: The yellow LED is on when the
output is active.
Bi-color LED:
Stability and error indicator: The LED is green when the
sensor is ready and is working in a reliable range.
The LED flashes alternately red and green if the sensor is
improperly calibrated.
SET button: Holding down the button teaches the sensor.
This can also be accomplished using the Teach-in input.
The SET button is then disabled.

Installation
There are three ways to attach the sensor:
1. Using two screws (M4) and washers through the
housing mounting holes.
2. Using a mounting bracket (available separately).
3. Using special clamps (available separately) and the
dovetail housing profile.
The operating distance is measured from the front surface
of the sensor optics.
The M12 connector can be oriented at four different
ratchet positions of 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°.

External Teach-In
The sensor can be calibrated using an external +V DC
signal on PIN 2 (Teach-in).
To do this, apply +V DC to the teach-in input before
powering up the sensor. This disables the SET button and
allows external calibration. A +V DC signal then has the
same function as pressing the button.
To restore button function, turn the sensor off, remove the
connection to +V DC (or apply 0V to the pin) and turn the
sensor back on.
Delay function
This function can be used to activate an off-delay of 20
ms.
1. Press the SET pushbutton and keep it pressed until the
bi-color LED turns off, blinks and turns off again. Now
release the button.
If the delay function is not active the green LED flashes
with 2 quick pulses over several cycles.
If the delay function is active the green LED flashes
with 4 quick pulses over several cycles.
2. To toggle the time delay (turn it on or off), press the
SET button once briefly. The new status is indicated by
the bi-color LED (see Step 1).

Setting
Two different setting possibilities are available:
− Standard setting: Normal calibration procedure (factory
setting). Only dark-on switching can be implemented
with this setting.
− Fine detection setting: To be used only when the
standard setting does not achieve the desired results,
i.e., if the contrast differences are too slight. The fine
setting can also be used to implement both light-on and
dark-on switching.
Calibration procedure (Teach-in)
Standard setting: (for dark-on operation only)
In this configuration the sensor detects objects having a
lower light intensity than their background.
1. Position the target or mark.
2. Press the SET button until the bi-color LED turns off.
3. Release the SET button and wait for the LED to come
on green. The sensor is ready. The yellow LED comes
on as soon as the object or mark is detected and the
output is active.
Fine detection setting (light- or dark-on):
This mode allows finer contrast differences to be
distinguished.
The sensor automatically selects the correct method:
Light-on for objects or marks which are brighter than the
background, and dark-on for objects or marks which are
darker than the background.
1. Position the target or mark.
2. Hold the SET button down until the bi-color LED goes
out and then flashes green. Then release the SET
button.
3. Place the background in the beam path.
4. Hold down the SET button again until the bi-color LED
goes out. The sensor is ready. The yellow LED comes
on as soon as the object or mark is detected and the
output is active.
