Please note that technically related measuring tolerances are possible, as the scale is not cali-
brated for professional medical applications.

NOTICE:

Protect the scale against hard knocks, moisture, dust, chemicals, major temperature fluctuations
and heat sources which are too close (e.g. stoves, heating radiators). This may damage the unit.

Please see section 5 “Cleaning, Maintenance and Disposal” and section 6 “Technical Specifica-
tions” for details.

Do not use any aggressive solvents, cleaning agents, detergents or any other strong chemicals
to clean the device.

Never immerse and or spill water or any other liquid onto the scale, otherwise liquid will enter
the scale and cause damage.

Do not wash the scale in a washing machine, dish washer or tumble dryer.

Make sure that you enter the desired unit of mass regarding the weight results.

Observe the local regulations for material disposal. Dispose of the device in accordance with
local regulations.
•
Do not step on the scale if you weigh more than 400 lb (181 kg / 28 st). This may damage the unit.

Do not weigh more than one person on the scale at one time. This may damage the unit.
•
Do not use mobile telephones, microwaves, and other devices which generate strong electrical
or electromagnetic fields near the unit. This may result in incorrect operation of the unit.
•
Never attempt to repair the device or adjust it yourself. This may damage the unit and impair
the functions. If you need to have the unit repaired, please contact our customer service. Please
see warranty for service contact. Before submitting any complaint, first check the battery and
replace it if necessary.
•
Changes or modifications to the device will nullify the user warranty.
Battery Handling Safety Precautions:
•
Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
•
Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the battery. Reversed batteries may cause damage to
the device.
•
If the battery in the device is depleted or the device will not be used for a long period of time, remove the
battery to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
•
Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (follow battery
manufacturer’s directions).
•
Do not dispose of batteries in fire; batteries may explode or leak.
•
Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
•
Remove the discharged battery from the product and dispose/recycle in compliance with all applicable laws.

Keep batteries away from children and pets. Batteries may be harmful if swallowed. Should a child or pet
swallow a battery, seek medical assistance immediately.
This product contains a CR Type Coin Lithium Battery which contains Perchlorate Material – special handling
may apply: If you have any questions, please contact the local authorities responsible for waste disposal.
If present, remove the battery insulating strip or remove the battery’s protective film and remove the battery
cover. Insert the battery according to the polarity. If the scale fails to operate, remove the battery completely
and reinsert it. Replace the battery cover carefully.
A new battery will last for approximately 1.2 years if the unit is used on an average of three times per day.
The trial battery supplied with the unit may have a shorter life. Remove batteries if you do not intend to use
the scale for longer periods before placing the device in storage.
Your scale is equipped with a “replace battery” indicator. When the scale is operated with a battery that is
too weak, “Lo” appears in the display field and the scale automatically switches off. The battery must be
replaced in this case (3V CR
2032
battery).

3. Usage Tips
3.1 Weighing correctly
•
Place the scale on a hard, plane,level floor (no carpet); a firm floor covering is required for correct measurement.
•
If possible, always weigh yourself at the same time of day (preferably in the morning) striving for comparable
conditions such as after using the toilet, on an empty stomach and unclothed, in order to achieve compa-
rable results.
•
Stand still and upright during measurement.
3.2 General notes
•T
he capacity of the scale is 400 lb (181 kg / 28 st).
•
The results are shown in 0.2 lb increments (100 g/1 lb).
•
On delivery the scale is set to the unit “lb”. A switch located on the back of the scale enables you to change
to “kg” or “st”.

4. Operation
Note: For first use and relocation
In order to ensure accurate results it is recommended to reset the scale to “0”:

This scale is used to determine the weight of human beings. The scale has a weighing range up to 400 lb
(181 kg / 28 st).
Place the scale on a hard, plane level floor (no carpet); a firm floor covering is required for correct measure-
ment.

5. Cleaning, Maintenance and Disposal
Cleaning and maintaining
To keep your scale in the best condition and protect the unit from damage follow the directions below:
The scale should occasionally be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents. The
unit is not waterproof, do not immerse the unit in water and do not spill water over the unit.
If your scale
accidentally gets wet immediately clean off the water.
Store the unit in a safe and dry location. Do not expose
the unit to direct sunlight, extreme hot or cold temperatures or humidity. Thoroughly dry any moisture off the
unit before storing. Store the unit safely out of the reach of children. Do not subject the unit to strong shocks,
such as dropping the unit on the floor. Always use the unit following the instructions provided in this manual.
Disposal
Observe the local regulations for material disposal. Dispose of the device in accordance with local regula-
tions. If you have any questions, please contact the local authorities responsible for waste disposal.

7. Troubleshooting
Following error messages can appear.
Error display Possible causes of errors Correction of errors
FFFF The maximum capacity of 400 lb (181 kg
/ 28 st) has been exceeded. Weigh only the maximum permissible
weight.
Lo Low Power. Change the battery.
No display. Battery is empty, battery was inserted incor-
rectly or the scale is broken.
Scale shows unrealistic result. Wait until scale switches off automatically.
Repeat measurement.
Place the scale on level flooring (no carpet).
Don’t move during weighing.
