1 System overview
This section provides an example of a typical network configuration and general information to
assist with your Sentinel Protection Server installation.
1.1 Typical RPS Network
RPS (Remote Programming Software) takes advantage of the Sentinel Protection Server, a
feature available with the D5370 RPS Security Block dongles. This feature allows all RPS
workstations on a LAN to communicate with a control panel as long as one or more of the
workstations or Windows file servers on the LAN has an installed RPS Security Block.

Install the security key on any machine attached to the network, server or client.
1.2 General information
– When you run the setup program, it automatically updates your version of the Windows
Installer, if necessary. It does not prompt before doing this.
– Administrator privileges are required for installing and setting it up on any Windows OS.

– Windows Server 2003 (32-bit and 64-bit)
