Understanding the Built-in Keypad
Thekeypadbuiltintothecontrolpanelisanalphanumeric
LCDkeypad.Ithasatwolineby16-characterdisplaythat
providesinformationonvariouscontrolpanelfunctions.
Inmostinstances,thetoplineofthedisplayprovidesgeneral
systemstatusinformation,whilethesecondlinedescribes
specificdevicesthatmightberelevanttothecurrentsystem
status.Whenkeysarebeingpressed,thedisplayshowsthecurrentactiononthetopline,whileshowingrotatingmenu
choicesonthesecondline.Abuilt-insounderisusedtoannunciatekeystrokeentriesandasaninteriorwarningdevice.
Modes of System Operation
Normal Operation: Whenthe systemis operating normally,SYSTEM NORMAL appears onthe top lineof the display,the
Power LED is on steady, and no other LEDs are lit.If the system is programmed to require a PIN,ENTER PIN:appearson
thesecond line oftheLCDscreen.Otherwise,thecontrolpanel bypassesthisdisplayandshowsarotatingmenu of possible
useractions.
AlarmOperation: Whenan alarmoccurs,the topline of thedisplay shows FIRE ALARM. This displayoverrides any other
systemdisplay.The second lineof the displayshowsthe pointnumberinalarm,alternatingwiththeprogrammed
descriptionfortheaffectedpoint.Ifmore thanonealarm(orotheroff-normal condition)isactive,theyappear onthe
secondline of thedisplay,oneafter another.The built-insounder turnson with a steady tone and outputsprogrammedto
activatewiththecurrentalarmcondition(s)activate.
Trouble Operation: When a trouble condition occurs (such as wiring for a point is cut,AC power fails,and so on), the
sounderactivatesbriefly,every10seconds.TheTroubleLEDilluminatesandSYSTEM TROUBLE appearsinthe toplineof
thedisplay.Thesecondlineofthedisplayidentifiesthespecificproblem.
Using PIN Numbers: Onsystems configured withno requirement for PIN numbers,commands such as Reset and Silence
areperformedbypressingtheappropriatekey oncethepanelisopened toaccessthekeys. Forsystems requiringaPIN
number,firstentertheuser’sassignedfour-digitPINnumber.Once thelistof availableoptions appears,simply pressthekey
forthedesiredcommand.
