I. Introduction
This section contains the product overview, features, configurations, estimated
performance standards, and monthly print volume.
A. Overview
The Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6800 Series consists of the
imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6870i, imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6860i
and imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6855i.
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6800 Series is a family of high-speed, high-
performance B&W (Black and White) digital imaging devices. The
imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX platform features enhancements focused on
Workflow Efficiency, Device & Fleet Management Efficiency, Security, Cost
Management, Sustainability, and Reliability.
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6870i is the successor to the
imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6765i. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE
DX 6860i is the successor to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6755i. The
imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6855i is the successor to the imageRUNNER
ADVANCE 4751i.
These models bring the following capabilities to end-users in small- to mid-size
offices:

•The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6870i is a Segment 5 device that prints
and copies B&W (Letter sized sheets) at speeds of up to 70-ppm (pages
per minute).
•The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6860i is a Segment 4 device that prints
and copies B&W (Letter sized sheets) at speeds of up to 60-ppm.
•The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6855i is a Segment 3 device that prints
and copies B&W (Letter sized sheets) at speeds of up to 55-ppm.
•Standard Single-Pass Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and
Color Image Reader with a scanning speed of up to 270 ipm (images per
minute) (Color) at 300 dpi (dots per inch) and a capacity of up to 200-sheets
(20 lb bond (80 g/m2)).
•A 256 GB solid state drive (SSD) expandable to a 1 TB SSD, and 5 GB of
RAM (Random Access Memory)
•Standard paper sources include two (2) paper cassettes, and one multi-
purpose tray that can hold up to 1,200 sheets of paper (20 lb bond
(75 g/m2)). Optional paper input options increase the paper capacity to up
to 6,350 sheets (20 lb bond (75 g/m2)).
•Supports a maximum paper size of up to 12 5/8” x 18”.

•Standard USB 3.0 high-speed connectivity is available on the rear-right
side of the machine for connecting devices such as an external Hard Disk.
Standard USB 2.0 high-speed connectivity is available on the front-right
side of the machine for scanning to or printing from USB memory media.
•Standard Color Universal Send.
•Standard UFR II, PCL 5, PCL6, Adobe PostScript 3, and
PDF/XPS/TIFF/JPEG Direct Printing.
•The main unit includes a motion sensor designed to reduce the perceived
waiting time for the device to recover from sleep mode. The device is able
to detect an approaching user, predict the user’s intent, and recover from
sleep mode accordingly. Likewise, the device can predict when the user is
finished using the device and returns to sleep mode. Three (3) sensitivity
settings are available and, the motion sensor can be turned off allowing the
device to transition to and from sleep mode like predecessor models.
•The standard embedded 10.1” Color Wide Super VGA high-resolution TFT
screen with flick, pinch, and drag and drop operability1. The UI provides
familiar smartphone-like functionality with an operational soft-key keypad
added to the touchscreen UI.
•The Home screen is comprised of Main Menu buttons and Timeline. The
Home screen consolidates the Quick Menu and Main Menu functions. The
Timeline displays the settings of the previous 10 jobs performed (copy,
scan and send, store, access to stored files, and fax).
•Standard wireless LAN Support for IEEE 802.11 b,g,n.
•Standard security features available with imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX
6800 Series include:

Firmware Platform), which provides a common firmware base for the
imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX devices and imageRUNNER ADVANCE.

STAR certified.

B. Features
1. Unified Firmware Platform
The UFP (Unified Firmware Platform) provides a common firmware base
for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX devices and imageRUNNER
ADVANCE Third Generation devices. This makes it possible to unify
development, and reflect the same functions in all supported devices.
The UFP has been designed for advanced functionality, high-reliability, and
ease of operation. The UFP enables digital-business communications,
such as imaging technology, cloud connectivity, and mobile solutions to
work together.
UFP updates are performed on a regular basis, and include new
specifications and enhancements. Critical bug fix firmware updates are
released as needed.
The UFP offers the following features and benefits across all supported
devices in your fleet:
•Consistent firmware updates (Updates are released on a regular basis)
•New features with new specifications
•Error fixes (Critical bug fix firmware updates are released as needed)

on the Partner Portal and e-Support for the latest UFP release available for
this model series, and the new features introduced with that release.
2. imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX Series Platform improvements
The Solid State Drive:
•The Solid State Drive (SSD) improves the imageRUNNER ADVANCE
Device startup time and warm up time.
•With no moving parts, the SDD is resistant to vibration and shock. The
durability allows the SSD to operate up to three times longer than the
Hard Disk Drive.
•The imageRUNNER ADVANCE is available with a 256GB SSD with the
optional 250GB SSD, 1TB SSD and SSD Mirroring Kit.
CS2 Toner:
•The CS2 toner has a lower melting point, which reduces the time for
the imageRUNNER ADVANCE to reach the fixing temperature.

D. Optimum Performance Range and Monthly Copy/Print Volume
1. The Optimum Performance Range
The optimum performance range is the volume range that the equipment
is intended to run on a regular basis to maintain a high level of performance
and print/copy quality.
Running the equipment within this range ensures that no undue stress is
placed on components, and it allows time for the proper servicing and
maintenance of the equipment.
2. Maximum Monthly Copy/Print Volume
The maximum monthly copy/print volume is the maximum number of pages
the machine can produce within a one-month period (based on letter size
paper). However, the device should not be used to produce the maximum
number of pages, or a greater volume, on a consistent monthly basis.
Sustained use of the machine at this level will significantly impact the long
term performance and durability of the machine. You should expect an
increase in the number of service calls and down time during periods of

Canon-Branded paper feed, accessories and finishers for the imageRUNNER
ADVANCE DX 6800 Series.
Refer to the Appendix to see the specifications for the hardware accessory options.
A. Printer Cover-M2
•Printer Cover-M2 is installed in place of the Duplex Image Reader when
this machine is used as a printer model.
•This option requires removing the standard Single Pass Duplexing
Automatic Document Feeder and Color Image Reader.
B. Platen Cover-Y3
•Platen Cover-Y3 is installed in place of the Duplex Image Reader. The
cover holds originals in place on the platen glass.
•This option requires removing the standard Single Pass Duplexing
Automatic Document Feeder and Color Image Reader.
C. High Capacity Cassette Feeding Unit-C1
