Cisco 78XX IP Phone Quick Reference Guide
Place a Call
NOTE: Dial 8, then the number to place a call o campus.
For long distance, dial 8, then 1 followed by the area code
and number.
 Li the handset and dial the number.
 Dial the number and then li the handset.
 Press a speed dial buon and then li the handset.
 If you have selected a number from a directory, press
the Dial so key, and then li the handset.
Answer a Call
 Li handset.
 If you are using a headset, press the Headset
buon.
 To use the speakerphone, press the Speaker
buon.

End a Call
 Hang up.
 If you are using a headset, press the Headset
buon or the EndCall so key.
 To end a speakerphone call, press the Speaker
buon or the EndCall so key.
Redial a Number
 Li handset, press the Redial so key.
 To use the speakerphone, press the speaker-
phone buon, then the Redial so key.
Hold/Resume a Call
Hold
 While on an acve call, press the Hold
buon.
Resume
 While on hold, press the Resume buon. .
 To retrieve a call on mulple lines, press the line
buon of the line you want to pick up.
Transfer a Call
 While on a call, press the Transfer buon
 Dial the “transfer to” number. You may choose to
wait for user to answer and then announce caller, or
you may connue on immediately.
 Press the Transfer buon again to transfer the call
or press the End so key to end the call. Press the
Resume buon to reconnect to the rst caller.
Send to Voice Mail
 While receiving a call, press the Divert so key to
send the call to voice mail.
Start a Conference Call
1. During a call, press the Conference buon
to open a new line and put the rst caller on hold.
2. Dial the number of the next person.
3. When the call connects, press the Conference
buon again to add the new party to the exisng
call. Limit: 8 (including yourself)
Forward Your Phone
1. Press the FwdAll so key on your phone.
2. Enter in the number you wish to forward to. If the
call is outside of campus, dial 9 followed by the
number.
Display will show FWD symbol to XXXX
1. To remove call forwarding, click the RemoveFWD
so key on your phone.
The “Forwarded to” message should no longer dis-
play on your phone.

Access Voice Mail
You can access your voice mail by following the direcons
below:
1. Press the (Messages) buon on your phone.
2. Enter in your voice mail PIN followed by the # key
using the number pad.
3. Your new message will begin to play.
4. Press 3 to review old messages.
5. Once in your message, your opons include:
 Press 1 to repeat
 Press 2 to save
 Press 3 to delete
 Press 5 to forward
 Press 6 to mark message as new
 Press 0 for Help
You may also manage your voice mail through the web
portal at uwpla.edu/go/uc
View Missed Calls
1. Press the (Sengs) buon on your phone.
2. Press the round Select buon to choose Call His-
tory
3. Press the Missed so key.
4. Use the Up/Down arrows on the navigaon pad
to scroll through your missed calls.
5. To return the call, highlight the user you wish to
call and press the Dial so key.
Corporate Directory
1. Press the (Directories) buon on your
phone.
2. Use the Up/Down arrows on the navigaon pad
to select Corporate Directory.
3. Press the round Select buon.
4. Using the number pad, enter the rst or last
name of the person you wish to call. You do not
need to type in the enre name.
5. Press the Search so key.
6. Use the Up/Down arrows on the navigaon pad
to locate the user.
7. Press the Dial so key to place a call to that user.
Park a Call
Parking a call allows to you to put your call on hold and
pick up the call from another Cisco VoIP phone located on
campus.
1. During a call, press the Park so key.
2. Party will be put on hold.
3. Make note of the Park number that is displayed on
your phone screen. Ex. 5921
4. From another phone, dial the park number.
5. You will now be reconnected to your call.
Access Voice Mail Remotely
1. From an external phone, call your full UW-
Plaeville phone number.
2. Once you reach the voice mail prompt, press the
* (star) buon using your number pad.
3. Enter your 4 digit UW-Plaeville extension when
prompted to enter your ID and press #.
4. Enter your voice mail PIN when prompted for
your pin. Press # to connue.
You will now entered in to the voice mail system.
Follow the prompts to manage your voice mail.
