IP5000 Firmware
The purpose of this document is to guide you through the one-time process
of migrating an IP5000 speakerphone running version 1 rmware to the new
version 2 rmware.
NOTE: Once this upgrade process has been completed, you WILL NOT be
able to downgrade back to version 1.
Items to consider before upgrading:
1 - The unit will be completely wiped after the upgrade and must be re-programmed.
2 - The unit will return to DHCP upon completion.
3 - Constant power must be provided to the unit via 12-24V AC or DC.
a - If providing PoE Power to the unit solely, please bring into the building and
provide AC or DC power to perform the migration.
b - After the Migration File runs, the unit must be unpowered for 12 seconds and then
it can be powered back up.
4 - The migration le must be downloaded from the codeblue.com website or emailed to
you.
5 - After the migration, please download and use the latest IP5000 rmware located on
the Downloads page of our website.
Process Overview
• To migrate the IP5000 hardware to the new rmware, you will need a network connection to
the IP5000 unit an AC or DC power source.
• The serial number and MAC address will be preserved during the migration process,
however, the contents of the le system - including all settings, scripts and recordings - will
be lost and must be restored after the new rmware is loaded.
• The migration process only needs to be performed once, after which rmware updates can
be performed like normal. After migration, rmware versions prior to 2.0.x can no longer be
used.
• The migration will be performed by an installation utility, which is a .bin le that is uploaded
like normal rmware using the “Upgrade Firmware” page of the web interface.
• When the IP5000 reboots during the upgrade process, the utility will install the new
bootloader and IP5000 rmware and will convert the FLASH chip to “power-of-2” mode.
• Once installation is complete, the utility will blink the front panel lights (green for success,

and red for failure). At that point, the IP5000 MUST BE HARD POWER CYCLED. Power
must be removed for AT LEAST 12 SECONDS in order to activate a hardware change on
the ash memory.
Performing the Migration
CAUTION: During the migration, apply a constant external power source to
the IP5000. PoE power does not qualify during this activity. If the migration
is interrupted, the IP5000 will be inoperable.
The Upgrade Process
1 - Using a web browser, connect to the IP5000 unit’s web interface.
2 - On the “Upgrade Firmware” page, click the “Browse…” button and select the ip5000_
migration_2_0_3.bin le that you downloaded from codeblue.com or were emailed.
3 - Click the “Upgrade” button.
4 - After the primary and backup copies of rmware are written, the IP5000 will automatically
reboot and begin the migration process.
5 - The migration will take approximately 30 seconds from the time the web interface indicates
the reboot is occurring. During this time, the red and green LEDs will blink in unison to
indicate progress, and the IP5000 will not respond to button presses or network connection
attempts.
6 - At the end of migration:
a - If the migration completes successfully, the green (“Call received”) LED will ash
indenitely.
b - In the unlikely event that the migration utility was unable to verify the contents of FLASH
memory after writing it, the red (“Call placed”) LED will ash indenitely.
7 - After the migration process, the IP5000 must be hard power cycled. Unplug ALL
EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS (A/C or D/C power and battery power). Let the unit sit
unpowered for AT LEAST 12 SECONDS to ensure that a necessary change in the ash
memory hardware can take place. After 12 seconds, reconnect power. Now you can
connect to the IP5000’s web interface and verify the rmware version and MAC Address on
the Administration page.
8 - Recongure the IP5000.
a - If you have a ToolVox, be sure to migrate the IP5000 settings within the ToolVox to
IP5000 V2 before pushing programming or pulling programming via the batch
conguration tool. If unsure, please contact Code Blue Technical Services and Support
Department for assistance.
9 - The migration le brings your phone to Version 2.0.3. This is not the latest rmware.
