IfyourInternetconnectionisDSL(abroadbandconnectionthatcomes
throughyourphoneline)youmayneedtocongurePPPoEsettings
in your DVR. If you do not know what type of broadband connection
youhave,contactyourinternetserviceprovider.AskyourISPifyour
internetconnectioniscableorDSL.
IMPORTANT
If you have cable: SkiptheDSLsectionbelowandcontinue
with the Port ForwardingSection.
If you have DSL: Find your user name and password. If you do
nothaveit,askthemhowyoucanndit.
1. ClickontheCONFIGURATIONbuttonintheDVRbrowser.
2. UnderRemote IP Assignment, enteryourDSLusernameinthe
UserNamebox.
3. EnteryourDSLpasswordinthePasswordbox.
4. Re-enteryourpasswordintheConrmbox.
5. Clickthe“SetChange”button.
6. Clickthe“Reboot”button.
7. PowerofftheDVRandpoweritbackontoconrmthechanges.
The changes will not take effect until you restart the DVR.

CONNECT TO THE INTERNET PORT FORWARDING
Portforwardingisanecessarystepthatopensapathonyourhome/
business network to allow you to view your DVR video feed from
outsideyournetwork(overtheinternet).
There are hundreds of makes and brands of routers on the market and
theseinstructionshavebeenmadeusingaD-Linkrouter(ModelDI-
524). If you have a router that is different than shown, please visit
www.portforward.com and go to the link marked GUIDES. Once
on this page, go to the link marked Port Forwarding Guides by
Router. Find your router make and model in the list of links and click
on it. You will see a list of various applications. Find a link for any
DVRorIPcameraandclickonit.Followtheinstructionsbutmake
sureyouforwardthecorrectportnumber(theportnumberassignedto
yourDVR.Thedefaultportnumberis2000.)
The steps for your router will be similar to the following.
Theseinstructionshavealsobeencreatedwithoutarewallinplace.If
youhavearewall,pleaseconsultacomputertechnician.
NOTE: Your router may require a user name and password. If you do
notknowit,askthepersonwhoconfiguredyournetwork.Portfor-
ward.comwillprovideyouwitheachrouter’sdefaultusername
and password.
