1. Projector Firmware Upgrade Setup
NOTE: Projector firmware upgrades set are the same for the S500 and S500wi models.
Part A: Install the Dell Flasher Tool on Your Computer
1. Please follow your computer operating system to select flasher version.
You may find the setup file in the Flasher 2.0_xx folder created after downloading and
unzipping or extracting the .zip file.
Win 8.1/8, Win 7, Vista, and XP 32-bit OS: Please install Flasher 2.0_32 bit version
Win 8.1/8, Win 7, Vista, and XP 64-bit OS: Please install Flasher 2.0_64 bit version
NOTE: Dell Flasher tool does not support Mac OS.
2. Double-click Setup.exe from downloaded Flasher_v2.0_32 or 64bit FW folder.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and find the installed flasher on
Start menu.
NOTE: You only need to install the “Dell Flasher Tool” once.

Part B: Install the USB driver on Your Computer
4. Plug in the power cord and perform following steps to enter download mode.
NOTE: Please DON’T press power button to turn on the projector when entering
download mode.
Step A: Press the Menu button and hold it.
Step B: Continuously hold the Menu button and press the Power button simultaneously.
Step C: Release the buttons after Temp and Error LED LEDs are both lighted up.
5. Connect the Mini USB (type A to Mini-B) cable to the projector and the computer.
NOTE:
a. If Windows XP pop-up this diagram, please click Cancel. Windows 7/8/8.1 OS does not
pop-up this diagram.
Step A. Press and hold the
“Menu” button.
Step B. Press the “Power”
button for a second.

b. If Windows 7/8/8.1 32-bit or 64-bit OS pop-up this diagram, please click Install. Windows
XP does not pop-up this diagram.
Part C: Launch the Dell Flasher Tool to Upgrade Projector Firmware
NOTE: Please keep the projector in download mode as step 4.
6. Execute the Dell Flasher: StartAll ProgramDell Flasher 2.0Flasher
7. Dell Flasher is executing and please check USB status is Connected before upgrade
firmware.

NOTE: If Window 7/8/8.1 32-bit or 64-bit OS pop-up this diagram, please click Install.
Windows XP does not pop-up this diagram.
NOTE: You only need to install the “Jungo driver” once.
8. Follow these steps to upgrade firmware:
Step A: Click “Browse” to find the firmware (*.img) from downloaded Projector FW folder.
Step B: Click “DownLoad” to pop-up the dialog.
Step C: Click “YES” to start the upgrade projector firmware.
Step D: Start to Erasing projector.
Step E: Download and upgrade firmware.

WARNING: When you are in downloading mode, PLEASE do not press the keyboard.
Step F: Firmware completed, press ”OK” and plug out the Mini USB cable from projector.
9. Unplug and re-plug in the power cord to turn on S500 or S500wi projector.
NOTE: If you have installed Dell Flasher Tool once, you may skip step 1~ 3, and only proceed
step 4~9 afterward to upgrade the projector firmware.

2. Wireless Firmware Upgrade Setup
NOTE: Wireless firmware upgrades set are the same for the S500 and S500wi models.
NOTE: Wireless firmware upgrades steps are the same for the Win OS and Mac OS.
Part A: Enable Wireless or LAN on the Projector
1. Connect the power cable and turn on the projector by pressing the power button.
2. If the LAN cable is used for firmware upgrade, follow these steps to re-active Wireless/LAN
feature when the Wireless/LAN is Off: Advanced Settings →Wireless/LAN Settings →
Wireless/LAN →On. Go to Step 4.
3. If the Wireless Connection is used for firmware upgrade, follow these steps to re-active
wireless connection when the wireless connection is Disconnected: Advanced Settings →
Wireless/LAN Settings →Wireless Settings →Wireless →Connected. Go to Step 5.
NOTE: If your want to use the wireless connection for S500 projector, need to installed
the optional wireless dongle. The wireless dongle is not shipped with your S500 projector.
You can purchase it from Dell website: www.dell.com.

Part B: Connect Your Computer to the Projector and Login Web Management
4. If you select the LAN cable for upgrade, connect the LAN cable to the projector and the
computer.
5. If you select the Wireless connection for upgrade, connect your computer to the S500 or
S500wi wireless network.
NOTE:
You computer must have wireless network function to detect the connection.
When you connect to the S500 or S500wi wireless network, you will lose wireless
connectivity with other wireless network.
6. Open the Internet browser on your computer. You will be automatically directed to the S500
or S500wi Web Management page.
NOTE: If the web page does not load automatically, enter the IP address (default IP
address is 192.168.100.10) in the browser’s address bar.

Part C: Upgrade Wireless Firmware
7. The S500 or S500wi web management page opens. Click Admin.
8. Enter the administrator password (default password is admin), then click Login.
9. Click Firmware Upgrade.
10. Follow these steps to upgrade firmware:
Step A: Click “Browse” to first find the firmware (*.img) from downloaded Wireless FW folder.

Step B: Click “Update” to start the upgrade firmware (*.img).
Step C: Download and upgrade firmware (*.img).
Step D: Firmware (*.img) completed, click “OK”.
