Please heed the points listed below during servicing and inspection.
◎Heed the cautions!
Spots requiring particular attention when servicing, such
as the cabinet, parts, chassis, etc., have cautions indicated
on labels or seals. Be sure to heed these cautions and the
cautions indicated in the handling instructions.
◎Caution concerning electric shock!
(1) An AC voltage is impressed on this set, so touching in-
ternal metal parts when the set is energized could
cause electric shock. Take care to avoid electric shock,
by for example using an isolating transformer and
gloves when servicing while the set is energized, un-
plugging the power cord when replacing parts, etc.
(2)There are high voltage parts inside. Handle with extra
care when the set is energized.
◎Caution concerning disassembly and
assembly!
Though great care is taken when manufacturing parts from
sheet metal, there may in some rare cases be burrs on the
edges of parts which could cause injury if fingers are
moved across them. Use gloves to protect your hands.
◎Only use designated parts!
The set's parts have specific safety properties (fire resis-
tance, voltage resistance, etc.). For replacement parts, be
sure to use parts which have the same properties. In par-
ticular, for the important safety parts that are marked zon
wiring diagrams and parts lists, be sure to use the desig-
nated parts.
◎Be sure to mount parts and arrange
the wires as they were originally!
For safety reasons, some parts use tape, tubes or other in-
sulating materials, and some parts are mounted away from
the surface of printed circuit boards. Care is also taken with
the positions of the wires inside and clamps are used to
keep wires away from heating and high voltage parts, so
be sure to set everything back as it was originally.
◎Inspect for safety after servicing!
Check that all screws, parts and wires removed or discon-
nected for servicing have been put back in their original po-
sitions, inspect that no parts around the area that has been
serviced have been negatively affected, conduct an insu-
lation check on the external metal connectors and between
the blades of the power plug, and otherwise check that
safety is ensured.
(Insulation check procedure)
Unplug the power cord from the power outlet, disconnect
the antenna, plugs, etc., and turn the power switch on. Us-
ing a 500V insulation resistance tester, check that the in-
sulation resistance between the terminals of the power
plug and the externally exposed metal parts (antenna ter-
minal, headphones terminal, microphone terminal, input
terminal, etc.) is 1MΩor greater. If it is less, the set must
be inspected and repaired.
Concerning important safety
parts
Many of the electric and structural parts used in the set
have special safety properties. In most cases these prop-
erties are difficult to distinguish by sight, and using re-
placement parts with higher ratings (rated power and
withstand voltage) does not necessarily guarantee that
safety performance will be preserved. Parts with safety
properties are indicated as shown below on the wiring dia-
grams and parts lists is this service manual. Be sure to re-
place them with parts with the designated part number.

(2) Parts lists ... Indicated by the zmark.
Using parts other than the designated
parts could result in electric shock, fires or
other dangerous situations.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The following check should be performed for the continued protection of the customer and service technician.
LEAKAGE CURRENT CHECK
Before returning the unit to the customer, make sure you make either (1) a leakage current check or (2) a line to chassis
resistance check. If the leakage current exceeds 0.5 milliamps, or if the resistance from chassis to either side of the
power cord is less than 460 kohms, the unit is defective.

キャビネット、部品、シャーシなどにラベルや捺印で注意
事項を表示しています。これらの注意書きおよび取扱説明
書などの注意事項を必ずお守りください。
◎感電に注意！
(1) このセットは、交流電圧が印加されていますので通電
時に内部金属部に触れると感電することがあります。
従って通電サービス時には、絶縁トランスの使用や手
袋の着用、部品交換には、電源プラグを抜くなどして
感電にご注意ください。
(2) 内部には高電圧の部分がありますので、通電時の取扱
には十分ご注意ください。
◎分解、組み立て作業時のご注意！
板金部品の端面の『バリ』は、部品製造時に充分管理をし
ておりますが、板金端面は鋭利となっている箇所が有りま
すので、部品端面に触れたまま指を動かすとまれに怪我を
する場合がありますので十分注意して作業して下さい。手
の保護のために手袋を着用してください。
◎指定部品の使用！
セットの部品は難燃性や耐電圧など安全上の特性を持っ
たものとなっています。従って交換部品は、使用されてい
たものと同じ特性の部品を使用してください。特に配線
図、部品表にz印で指定されている安全上重要な部品は
必ず指定のものをご使用ください。
◎部品の取付けや配線の引きまわしは、
元どおりに！
安全上、テープやチューブなどの絶縁材料を使用したり、
プリント基板から浮かして取付けた部品があります。また
内部配線は引きまわしやクランパーによって発熱部品や
高圧部品に接近しないように配慮されていますので、これ
らは必ず元どおりにしてください。
◎サービス後は安全点検を！
サービスのために取り外したねじ、部品、配線などが元ど
おりになっているか、またサービスした個所の周辺を劣化
させてしまったところがないかなどを点検し、外部金属端
子部と、電源プラグの刃の間の絶縁チェックをおこなうな
ど、安全性が確保されていることを確認してください。
（絶縁チェックの方法）
電源コンセントから電源プラグを抜き、アンテナやプラグ
などを外し、電源スイッチを入れます。500V 絶縁抵抗計
を用いて、電源プラグのそれぞれの端子と外部露出金属部
［アンテナ端子、ヘッドホン端子、マイク端子、入力端子
など］との間で、絶縁抵抗値が１ MΩ 以上であることを
確認してください。この値以下のときはセットの点検修理
が必要です。
安全上重要な部品について
本機に使用している多くの電気部品、および機構部品は安
全上、特別な特性を持っています。この特性はほとんどの
場合、外観では判別つきにくく、またもとの部品より高い
定格（定格電力、耐圧）を持ったものを使用しても安全性
が維持されるとは、限りません。安全上の特性を持った部
品は、このサービスマニュアルの配線図、部品表につぎの
ように表示していますので必ず指定されている部品番号
のものを使用願います。
(1) 配線図…zマークで表示しています。
(2) 部品表…zマークで表示しています。
指定された部品と異なるものを使用した場
合には、感電、火災などの危険を生じる恐
れがあります。

各部のはずしかた
（組み立てるときは、逆の順序でおこなってください。）
注意： 最初に Platter をはずします。取扱説明書を参照して
ください。
1. FrontPanel
(1) FrontPanel の六角ねじ 4 本をはずし、FrontPanel を
抜き取る。
(2) HDDtraylid のねじ 2 本をはずし、HDDtraylid を抜
き取る。
DISASSEMBLY
(Follow the procedure below in reverse order when reassem-
bling.)
Note : First of all, remove the Platter. Refer to the Instruction
Manuals.
1. Front Panel
(1) Remove 4 HEX screws on the Front panel and pull out
the Front Panel.
(2) Remove 2 screws on the HDD tray lid and pull out the
HDD tray lid.

2. Topcaseunit
(1) 左右面のねじ各 4 本、前面のねじ 3 本と後面のねじ 2
本をはずす。
(2) Topcaseunit を引き上げ、下図で示した 13PFFC ケー
ブル、18PFFC ケーブルと 12P ワイヤーを引き抜く。
注意： FFC ケーブルを破損させないために斜めに抜かない
でください。
FFC ケーブルとワイヤーを抜く前に AC コードをコ
ンセントから抜いてください。
AC コードがコンセントに接続されていると、本体に
電源が供給され危険です。
3. Topshield
(1) Topcaseunit を裏返す。
(2) 下図で示した Topshield のねじ 5 本をはずす。
2. Top case unit
(1) Remove the 4 screws on the each L/R side and 3
screws on the front side and 2 screws on the rear side.
(2) Pull up the Top case unit and then pull out the 13P
FFC cable, 18P FFC cable and 12P wire showed in
the below drawing.
Notes: Do not pull out aslant to prevent FFC cable damage.
Do not fail to pull AC cord from wall outlet before dis-
connect the FFC cable and wire.
If AC cord is remained plugged into wall outlet, power
is kept supplied in the unit, which may cause damage.
3. Top shield
(1) Reverse the Top case unit.
(2) Remove the 5 screws on the Top shield showed in the
below drawing.

Launching the
service mode and

・Pressing the PARAMETERS knob and B
( ) button simultaneously, turn on the
power. Keep pressing the PARAMETERS
knob and B ( ) button until "DENON DJ"
is displayed. When the service mode is set,
the service mode's top menu appears.
・Turn the PARAMETERS knob to select each
check mode, then press the PARAMETERS
knob to set each check mode.
qFUNCTION CHK
The various memories are initialized and
internal communications are checked.

The status (on or off) of the various buttons
is checked.
ePANEL CHK
The FADERIN, PARAMETERS knob,
EFECTE knob, FWD/BOTH select switch,
Turntable, PLATTER JOG dial and PITCH
slider are checked.
rPLATTER ADJ
Adjust the number of rotating platter.
tPLATTER CHK
The rotational speed of PLATTER and the
error margin of the rotation are measured
by the automatic operation and displayed.

HDD_Format
mode
(Option HDD)
When the hard disk of the option is added, it
uses it.
・Turn the PARAMETERS knob to select
"HDD_Format" from the FUNCTION check
mode's top menu, then press the PARAME-
TERS knob to set "HDD_Format" mode.
・When the PARAMETERS knob is pressed, the
format confirmation message appears.
・When the PARAMETERS knob is pressed, for-
matting starts and the internal hard disk is for-
matted in FAT32.
Note that when the hard disk is formatted,
all the data on the hard disk is erased irre-
trievably.
・"Complete!!" is displayed when initialization is
completed normally, "Fail" is displayed if for-
matting is completed abnormally.
In the latter case, formatting is not possible in
this mode. Use a disk formatter (freeware or
other, for example symantec's "Norton Ghost",
operation not guaranteed) to format the disk in
FAT32.
・When the BACK ( ) button is pressed
before formatting has been executed, the
FUNCTION check mode's top menu reap-
pears.
2.5 DRIVE_Check
mode
・Connect the transmission and reception pins
of the D-SYNC. terminal to an external device
(loop back).
・Turn the PARAMETERS knob to select
"DRIVE_Check" from the FUNCTION check
mode's top menu, then press the PARAME-
TERS knob to set "DRIVE_Check" mode.
・Data is transmitted from the D-SYNC. terminal
and whether or not the sent data can be
received is checked.
The checking status and results are displayed.

HDDFormat
モード
( オプション HDD)
オプションで HDD を追加した時に使用します。
・PARAMETERSノブを回して、FUNCTIONチェッ
クモード画面から HDDFormat を選択し、
PARAMETERS ノブを押して確定します。
・PARAMETERS ノブを押すと、フォーマット確
認メッセージが表示されます。
・PARAMETERS ノブを押すと、フォーマットを
開始し、内蔵 HDD を FAT32 でフォーマットし
ます。
フォーマットをおこなうと、ハードディスク
の全てのデータが消去されますので、ご注意
ください。
・フォーマットが正常に終了すると、
"Complete!!" を表示します。異常終了時は、
"Fail" を表示します。
異常終了となると、このモードではフォー
マットできません。DISKFORMATER（フリー
ソフト、有償ソフト（例：symantec 製
NortonGhost 但し、動作は未確認です。）等
で、 FAT32 フォーマットをおこなってくださ
い。
・フォーマット実行前に BACK( ) ボタンを
押すと、FUNCTION チェックモードの TOP 画
面に戻ります。
2.5 DRIVECheck
モード
・D-SYNC. 端子の送信端子と受信端子を機器外
部で接続（ループバック ) します。
・PARAMETERSノブを回して、FUNCTIONチェッ
クモード画面から DRIVECheck を選択し、
PARAMETERS ノブを押して確定します。
・D-SYNC. 端子からデータを送信し、送信デー
タが受信できるかをチェックします。
チェック状態と結果が表示されます。

2.8 Heat_Run mode
・5 titles or more is done memory, the USB
device where the database is created is con-
nected to the USB A terminal.
・Turn the PARAMETERS knob to select
"Heat_Run" from the FUNCTION check
mode's top menu, then press the PARAME-
TERS knob to set "Heat_Run" mode.
・Verification of the heat run database is per-
formed.
・"Verifying DataBase" is displayed during verifi-
cation.
・"Heat_run_Execute! - >Power Off/On" is dis-
played.
Be careful not to operate the panel until
"Heat_run_Execute! - >Power Off/On" is
displayed.
・Press the DISPLAY MODE button about 10
seconds after Heat_run_Execute! ->Power
Off/On is displayed.
・The LCD display switches from the Deck 1
display to the double deck (Deck 1 (left)/Deck
2 (right)) display.
The blue LEDs on the sides of the LCD dis-
play screen light to indicate the deck that but-
ton operation is valid for.
--Deck1 Heat Run mode--
・Turn the PARAMETERS knob and select "File
Name". Next, press the PARAMETERS knob
to set "File Name"

モード
・5 曲以上がメモリーされ、データベースクリ
エート済みの USB メモリーを USBA 端子に接
続します。
・PARAMETERSノブを回して、FUNCTIONチェッ
クモード画面から HeatRun を選択し、
PARAMETERS ノブを押して確定します。
・ヒートラン用データベースのベリファイをお
こないます。
・ベリファイ中は、"VerifyingDataBase" を表示
します。
・"HeatrunExecute!-〉PowerOff/On" が表示
されます。
"HeatrunExecute!-〉PowerOff/On" が表
示されるまで、パネル操作をしないようご注
意下さい。
・"HeatrunExecute!-〉PowerOff/On" が表示
されてから約 10 秒後に DISPLAYMODE ボタ
ンを押します。
・LCD 表示は、Deck1 表示から、Deck1( 左 )、
Deck2( 右 ) のダブルデッキ表示に切り替わり
ます。
LCD 表示画面の両脇にある青色の LED が点灯
している方の Deck の操作が有効となります。
--Deck1 のヒートラン再生 --
・PARAMETERS ノブを回し、FileName を選択
します。次に、PARAMETERS ノブを押して、
FileName を確定します。

2.8 Heat_Run mode
・The names of the files that can be played are
displayed on the Deck1 screen.
・Turn the Deck1 PARAMETERS knob to select
the file, then press the PARAMETERS knob to
set the file.
・The CUE ( ) button flashes red while
preparations for playing the selected file are
being made.
・"Heat_Run_Execute!" is displayed.
・Once preparations for file playback on Deck1
are completed, the CUE ( ) button stops
flashing red, remaining lit.
・Press the Deck1 PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button
to start heat run continuous playback.
--Deck2 Heat Run mode--
・When the LAYER button is pressed once, the
blue LED for the Deck 2 (right) side lights and
operation becomes valid for Deck 2.
・Using the same procedure as with Deck1,
select and set the name of the file to be played
using the Deck2 PARAMETERS knob.
・Once the file name is set, "Power Off/On Only"
is displayed.
・Press the Deck2 PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button
to start heat run continuous playback.
・If an error occurs when in the heat run mode,
the playback stop mode is set.
・If the speed that the platter turns around in
heat run mode becomes slow, the following
LED lights.
-2% or less : D-SYNC LED
-5% or less : D-SYNC LED, MIDL LED
-10% or less: D-SYNC LED, MIDL LED,
DEVICE LED
・To end the heat run mode, press the CUE
( ) buttons on Decks 1 and 2 to stop

2.8 HeatRun
モード
・DecK1 の画面に再生できるファイル名が表示
されます。
・PARAMETERSノブを回してファイルを選択し、
PARAMETERS ノブを押して確定します。
・選択したファイルの再生準備中は、CUE
()ボタンが赤色点滅します。
・"HeatRunExecute!" が表示されます。
・DecK1 のファイル再生の準備が完了すると、
CUE()ボタンが、赤色点滅から点灯とな
ります。
・Deck1 の PLAY/PAUSE（ ）ボタンを押
し、ヒートラン連続再生を開始します。
---Deck2 のヒートラン再生 ---
・LAYER ボタンを 1 回押すと、Deck2( 右 ) 側の
青色 LED が点灯し、Deck2 の操作が有効とな
ります。
・Deck1 の操作と同手順で、再生するファイル
名を Deck2 の PARAMETERS ノブで選択し、確
定します。
・ファイル名を確定すると、"PowerOff/On
Only" が表示されます。
・Deck2 の PLAY/PAUSE（ ）ボタンを押
し、ヒートラン連続再生を開始します。
・ヒートランモード中にエラーが発生すると、再
生停止状態となります。
・ヒートランモード中にプラッターの回転速度
が遅くなった場合、以下の LED が点灯します。
-2% 以下 : D-SYNCLED
-5% 以下 : D-SYNCLED、MIDLLED
-10% 以下 : D-SYNCLED、MIDLLED、
DEVICELED
・ヒートランモードを終了するときは、Deck1
及び Deck2 の CUE()ボタンを押して再

executed, the service mode's top menu reap-
pears.
・When buttons on HS5500 are pressed, the
checkbox of the corresponding button is high-
lighted.
If the checkbox is not highlighted, there is a
problem with that button.
・Once all the buttons have been checked, the
results of checking are displayed.
・Press the PARAMETERS knob to return to the
top screen in the service mode.

4PANEL CHK
mode

qFADERIN signal
When the cue or play signal is received on
the FADER1 and FADER2 terminal, the
"FADERIN CUE" or "FADERIN PLAY" check-
box on the screen is highlighted for 0.5 sec-
onds.
wPARAMETERS knob
The checkbox display toggles between black
and white each time the PARAMETERS knob
is pressed.
When the PARAMETERS knob is turned, ->
(clockwise) or <- (counterclockwise) is dis-
played.
eEFFECTS knob
The checkbox display toggles between black
and white each time the EFFECTS knob is
pressed.
When the EFFECTS knob is turned, ->
(clockwise) or <- (counterclockwise) is dis-
played.
rFWD/BOTH knob
"FWD" lights when "FWD" is selected with the
FWD/BOTH switch, while "BOTH" lights when
"BOTH" is selected.
tPLATTER JOG
・When the PLATTER JOG disc is turned, ->
(clockwise) or <- (counterclockwise) is dis-
played.
The counter value of the turning pulse num-
ber of the PLATTER JOG disc is indicated
on the "COUNT" section within the range of
0 to 65535, counting up when turned clock-
wise, down when turned counterclockwise.
yTT(Turntable)
・When the TT is turned, -> (clockwise) or <-
(counterclockwise) is displayed.
The counter value of the turning pulse num-
ber of the TT is indicated on the "COUNT"
section within the range of 0 to 65535,
counting up when turned clockwise, down
when turned counterclockwise.
The counter value of the turning pulse
width of the PLATTER JOG disc, TT and
pulse width setting flag are for design
examination. For this reason, do not use
them as judging criteria for the jog dial;
handle them as reference data.
4) PITCH slider
The pitch slider's position reading value is
displayed on the "PITCH" section, the center
tap's position reading value at the "CENTER"
section, both within a range of 0 to 1022.

PLATTERJOG ディスクの回転パルス数の
カウンタ値を COUNT 部に 0 〜 65535 の
範囲で表示します。右回しでカウントアッ
プし、左回しでカウントダウンします。
yTT( ターンテーブル )
・TT を回転させると、回転方向に応じて、-
>（右回転）、<-（左回転） を表示します。
TTの回転パルス数のカウンタ値をCOUNT
部に 0 〜 65535 の範囲で表示します。右
回しでカウントアップし、左回しでカウン
トダウンします。
PLATTERJOGとTTの回転パルス幅のカウンタ
値及びパルス幅確定フラグは、設計検討用の
ため PLATTERJOG と TT の判定基準に使用せ
ず、参考データとして扱ってください。
uピッチスライダ
ピッチスライダの位置読取値をPITCH部に、
センタータップの位置読取り値を CENTER
部に０〜 1022 の範囲で表示します。

5PLATTER ADJ
mode
・Turn the PARAMETERS knob, select "PLAT-
TER ADJ" from the top screen in the service
mode, then press the PARAMETERS knob to
set.
The "PLATTER ADJ" mode screen appears.
By default, the platter stop mode is set, so
"5.0% [NG]" is displayed.
Check the standard platter rotation speed,
33.33 rpm.
・When the PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button is
pressed, the platter begins to turn, and [OK] is
displayed once the speed is within the pre-
scribed range. [NG] (for "No Good") is dis-
played if the speed is not within the prescribed
range.
If [NG] is displayed, adjust VR701 on the GU-
3862 (POWER UNIT) board until [OK] is dis-
played.
6PLATTER CHK
mode
・Turn the PARAMETERS knob, select "PLAT-
TER CHK" from the top screen in the service
mode, then press the PARAMETERS knob to
set.
The "PLATTER CHK" mode screen appears.
・When the PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button is
pressed, the platter begins to turn, and auto-
matic measurements are completed in about
40 seconds.
The difference with the actual rotation speed is
measured at the -70%, 0% and 100% points
for the 33.33 and 45.00 rpm speeds and dis-
played as a percentage.
(1)~(5) -4.50% ~ +4.50%
(6) -8.00% ~ +8.00% that checked.
When being other than the above-mentioned
range, adjust PLATTER ADJ mode for the
second time, after that execute PLATTER
CHK mode and verify that it is within the
range.
・Press the PLAYLIST button to return to the top
screen in the service mode.

定の回転数から外れている場合は、［NG］を表
示します。
［NG］を表示している場合は、GU-3862
（POWERUNIT）基板の VR701 を［OK］表示と
なるように調整します。
6PLATTERCHK
モード
・PARAMETERS ノブを回して、サービスモード
の TOP 画面 から PLATTER CHK を選択し、
PARAMETERS ノブを押して確定します。
PLAMETER CHK モードの画面となります。
・PLAY/PAUSE（ ）ボタンを押すと、
PLATTER が回転を開始し、約 40 秒間で自動計
測を終了します。
計測ポイントは、33．33rpm と 45．00rpm の
-70％，0％，100％時の実際の回転数とその時
の回転誤差を％表示します。
(1) 〜 (5) -4.50% 〜 +4.50%
(6) -8.00% 〜 +8.00%
であることを確認します。
上記、範囲から外れる場合は、PLATTERADJ
モードにて、再調整後、再度 PLATTERCHK を
実行し上記範囲内となることを確認します。
・PLAYLIST を押すとサービスモードの TOP 画面
に戻ります。

VERSION UPGRADE PROCEDURE OF FIRMWARE
Use the procedure described below to update the firmware to a newer version.
No Mode Operation and Function Display
1 Versionupmode
・Store the filefor updating the firmware in the
root directory of the built-in hard disk drive or
USB device.
・If the file for updating the firmware is stored on
a USB device, connect the USB device to the
USB A terminal.
・Pressing the PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button
and BACK ( ) button simultaneously, turn
on the power. The screen for updating the
firmware appears.
・Specify the device containing the file for
updating the firmware.
If the file is on the built-in hard disk drive,
press the CUE ( ) button.
If the file is on a USB device, press the MIRR-
LOR MIX button.
NOTE)The display of "USB" flashes. Confirm
that the display flashes 5 times or more,
then press the MIRROR MIX button.
・Specify the starting of updating the firmware.
Press the PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button.
To cancel, turn the power off.
・Be careful that the power does not get
turned off while the firmware is being
updated.

After servicing, replace the fuse.
Check the presence that the primary component
is leaking or shorted and replace it if defective.

いいえ IC802、IC803の14pin、15pinからIC804、IC805への
周辺回路を確認し、不良箇所を修理。
周辺回路が正しい場合は、IC804もしくはIC805を交換。
1kHz0dBのテスト信号(MP3、WAV)を書き込んだUSB
メモリを用意し、通常動作の操作にて、両Deckとも
1kHz0dBA〜B間繰り返し再生状態にする。

いいえ CY111からIC802、IC803への入力信号を確認し、
不良箇所を修理入力信号が正しい場合は、
