GENERAL INFORMATION
1 1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Digitize to Monaco
D-7000 interface
This document will familiarize you with the operation of the Digitize SYSTEM 3500 for
processing Monaco BT- Alarms/Troubles/Restores.
There are two modes of operation for the Bangor/Keyport and Whidbey systems.
Normally the system will be set up to process the Monaco BT Alarms and pass them to
the RDC. In this operation, the SYSTEM 3505 will be ASLEEP but can always be
Awakened by simply pressing the CLEAR key. The CLEAR key should be blinking its
red LED. When awake, the SYSTEM 3505 will auto Acknowledge its alarms as long as
it is communicating with RDC. The SYSTEM can be left awake or asleep while it is
passing its alarms to the RDC.
Should the data connection between the SYSTEM 3505 and the RDC fail, the SYSTEM
3505 will automatically wake up within approximately 30 seconds, and annunciate the
fault condition and any additional new Alarm, Trouble or Restore conditions. If left
alone, the alarms will process as soon as the data link is restored. If the SYSTEM 3505
was asleep prior to the link fault, it will go back to sleep when the link restores, providing
you did not press the CLEAR key.
The second mode of operation is to have the operator, located in the same room as the
SYSTEM 3505 Acknowledge the Alarms. The Alarms will still be passed through to the
RDC, but the Alarms will continue to annunciate at the local SYSTEM 3505 until such
time that the ACKNOWLEDGE key is pressed. DO NOT PUT THE SYSTEM 3505
INTO THE SLEEP MODE IF YOU ARE MONITORING THE ALARMS LOCALY. If
this mode is going to be used for long periods of time, the SLEEP key can be disabled by
the service personnel. Do not leave the unit unattended if you elect to acknowledge the
alarms locally at the SYSTEM 3505. An Unacknowledged Alarm will not report its
restoral condition until such time as the Alarm, or Trouble condition is Acknowledged.

1 2 NEW CONFIGURATION
The Digitize SYSTEM 3505 replaces the Monaco head end PC. The D-700/7000 unit is
then connected to the Digitize SYSTEM 3505 in place of the PC.
1 3 SOFT KEYS
The SYSTEM 3505 contains user selectable keys referred to as soft keys. The “soft key”
name and functionality changes based on user input or selection of various functions
within the operation of the SYSTEM 3505. Screen images may show a “soft key” in a
particular location; however the location may vary from unit to unit based on the options
installed.
1 4 ZID VS ZONE NUMBERS
Your Monaco head end PC processed Alarm conditions using ZID numbers. The
Digitize system processed the Alarms based on the actual zone that originated the
condition. I.e. if BT- reported zone #1 in alarm, the Digitize account number for the
incident would be 3-01 Alarm. The message contained in the old ZID number is simply
the text message programmed into the SYSTEM 3505 for the alarm being activated.

1 5 INTERROGATING
Interrogating a BT unit is an operator function that can be performed at any time. To
interrogate a BT unit, simply enter the desired BT number on the numeric keypad. A soft
key “Interrogate BT- ” will be displayed. Simply press the soft key to initiate the
interrogation.
Enter 3, then press the Interrogate key Three possible printouts for Interrogate
Selecting the BT number, then pressing the “Interrogate BT- ” soft key will always print
out the date and time and an indication that an interrogation was requested for the desired
BT- number.
The Interrogate request is followed by one of three possibilities, thus three possible
printouts.
1. If there is no response from the BT- unit, the Thermal printer will indicate “NO
RESPONSE BT- ”
. If the BT- responds, and all the conditions at the BT- are secure, then the
printout will indicate that the BT- is secured.

DIGITIZE, INC 700270 REV A 01/06 1-4

3. If the BT- responds, and one or more conditions exist at the BT- , then the
Activity at the BT- will be noted on the printout. Please note that the FIRE
Alarm printed on the thermal tape noted above is not part of the Interrogation
response, but rather the actual occurrence of the FIRE alarm. Also note that the
printout includes the zone description as well as the building information.
Although the Monaco system provides the SYSTEM 3505 with an ongoing status of the
condition at the BT panel, you can always interrogate a BT unit to make sure the
information you are looking at is correct.
1 6 STATUS PRINTOUT ALL CONDITIONS
You may also obtain a printout of the current status of every non-restored account
currently in the SYSTEM 3505. Simply press the Status printout soft key twice.
SYSTEM 3505 Status printout
1 7 DAILY TEST
The Digitize SYSTEM 3505 defaults to initiating a daily test (Interrogation) each day at
08:30. This time can be changed at any desired time within a 4 hour period, or turned
OFF. The adjustment for the desired time can be found via the 1 SET menu, selection
# then selection #3. Advancing to 00:00 hours will result in a display of XX:XX
indicating the auto test feature is turned OFF. The user can also initiate a daily test at any
time. To do so, simply press the KEY SELECT key above the green AC POWER LED.
Look for the soft key labeled “MONACO DLY TEST”.

DIGITIZE, INC 700270 REV A 01/06 1-5
Specifications Subject to Change Without Notice
You should activate the daily test following either a restart of the SYSTEM 3505, or if
the data line between the SYSTEM 3505 and the Monaco D-700/7000 has been
disconnected for a period of time.
Whether initiate automatically or manually the following will be printed on activation of
a daily test request.
1 8 AUTO LOAD OF BT-2 BOXES
The SYSTEM 3505 will auto load all the BT- Boxes into its non-volatile memory
whenever it is initially powered up and a Daily test is requested. When the BT- boxes
are loaded into the SYSTEM 3505, all the BT- units are placed in the “Active” mode. If
any boxes are Disabled, you need to go to the 3 6 SET menu and Disable the non-active
BT- units. See the section on the 3 6 SET menu.
If you install a new or spare SYSTEM 3505 unit, you will need to purge the BT- list in
the new unit, so it will auto load the field BT boxes. You can enter the boxes one by one
into the SYSTEM 3505 via the 3 6 SET menu.
1 9 ADD/CHANGE BT-2 UNITS
To bring up the Monaco D-500/700 SET menu, press 3 6 then the SET key. The display
will be as follows:

Once the password is entered, and the SET key is pressed, you will see the BT selection
menu. Enter the desired BT- number (BT # is shown above). If the BT exists, then
the BT- Status will either be displayed as ACTIVE or DISABLED. To disable a BT-
(presumably for a long period of time) move the cursor by pressing the FUNC key until it
is under the word ACTIVE. Simply press the ON or OFF key on the SYSTEM 3505 to
change the status to DISABLED. No information is sent to the Monaco box. The
disabling process of the BT- does not apply for activation of a BT- , or for adding a new
BT- . In the case of adding a new BT- the BT- status will be noted as NONE.
To ADD or CHANGE the configuration of a BT- unit you must first enter the desired
BT- number into the 3 6 SET menu. Move the cursor by pressing the FUNC key and
enable of disable the desired zones by using the ON/OFF keys when the cursor is at the
location of the desired zone. A display of the actual zone number indicates that the zone
will be active when you activate the desired BT- . An X or XX indicates that the
selected zone will be disabled, when you activate the desired zone. Once you make all
the selections, press the “Activate selection now” soft key. If the selected BT is on line,
the printer the following information:
If the BT- is not on line, then only the request will be printed.

OPERATION
2 1 ZONE DEFINITION
The BT units will send zones 1 – 16 based on the model of the BT in the field and the
number of zones activated when the BT is first brought on line.
The SYSTEM 3505 will process these zones as the BT number, a hyphen, and then the
zone number. Thus if zone eight is activated on BT #56 the resulting account number
will be 56-08. Other conditions reported by the BT unit are not associated with a zone
number. These conditions include AC FAIL, Battery FAIL and Tamper. The SYSTEM
3505 assigns a zone number well above the rand of 1 – 16 to signify conditions that do
not directly have zone numbers. The zone range selected by Digitize is zone -91 to -98.
The following is a definition of this zone range:
-91 BT- is Out of Service
-93 No response from BT-
-94 BT has a low Battery
-95 (not assigned at this time)
-96 Panel Trouble (repeater)
-97 BT has an AC failure
-98 Tamper
Each BT (or repeater) will use these zone definitions to report conditions other then
zones. These conditions will always be reported as a Trouble, never an Alarm.
2 2 REPEATER ACCOUNT NUMBERS
The Repeaters used in the Indian Island Monaco SYSTEM produce error signals. I.e.
AC/DC failures, Repeater down, etc. In order to process these conditions to the RDC via
the SYSTEM 3505, the repeater Troubles needed to have an account number assigned.
An account of 9991 was selected to distinguish it from a BT account number. Thus an
AC failure at a repeater will be reported as 9991-97.

2 3 POWER UP PRINTOUT
Each time the SYSTEM 3505 is powered up, the following will be printed:
Please note that the printout prints the number of Monaco BT- units, both active and
inactive, in your system. It is important that you are aware of the total number of BT
units and that this quantity matches what is printed on power up. You may also obtain
the same BT quantity printout while the SYSTEM 3505 is operational by pressing 1 8
then the FUNC key.

DIGITIZE, INC 700270 REV A 01/06 2-3
Specifications Subject to Change Without Notice
At the top of the printout is the Monaco D-500/700 program Version. This will be
printed every time the SYSTEM 3505 makes the initial connection with the Monaco D-
500/700. Should the data link be interrupted even briefly, the resulting reconnection
sequence will cause the program version to print again.
2 4 BOX LOOK UP
The operator may at any time “look up” the zone definition of any BT number and zone.
Simply enter the full BT box number on the keypad, I.e. 56-03, and then press the BOX
LOOK UP key. The display will now show you the selected BT and Zone description
and location.
You can also LOOK UP just the BT number without a zone. However, you need to add a
“-“ after the BT number I.e. 56- then press lookup.

printouts.
To activate a desired FUNC, enter the desired two digit number, and then press the
FUNC key. Entering 1 8 then pressing FUNC will printout the total BT units installed in
the SYSTEM 3505.
Selecting 00, 01, 0 or 03 then pressing FUNC will put the SYSTEM 3505 in the sleep
mode, as well as update the sleep soft key to the last selected FUNC.
