Installation and Operating
This product is supplied and operated with a Bluetooth Remote Control handset

THESE INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD BE READ CAREFULLY AND RETAINED FOR
FUTURE REFERENCE. Note also the information presented on the appliance
IMPORTANT SAFETY ADVICE
Because the Dimplex Ceramic Radiant Heater contains no moving parts little
maintenance is required. Before undertaking any maintenance work on the heater
due attention must be paid to the following:
• The installation of these appliances must always be carried out by a competent
electrician and be in accordance with the current wiring regulations and
revelant building regulations.
• The radiated heat from the heater is considerable and must be taken into
account when locating the heater. Ensure that the heater is not used in close
proximity to the skin or eyes.
• Always isolate the heater from the supply before undertaking any maintenance
work on the appliance.
• This heater is designed to be horizontally wall mounted only, it must not be
ceiling mounted.
• Always ensure a safe mounting height, at or above a minimum height of 1.8
metres from ground level, so that the heater can not be touched when in
operation.
• The heater must be wall mounted level ± 5º to the horizontal.
• Do not locate the heater immediately above or below a fixed socket outlet or
connection box.
• The heater must be installed in a location that is free from vibration.
• The CXD range of heaters are not rated as flame-proof and must not be used
when flammable dusts, gasses, or vapours, etc. are likely to be present in the
atmosphere. If in doubt, advice should be sought from the Health and Safety
Executive inspectors or local fire ocers.
WARNING
1. This appliance must be earthed.
2. Means for disconnection from the electrical supply must be incorporated in
the fixed wiring in accordance with the wiring regulations.
3. Do not use this heater in the immediate surroundings of a bath, a shower or a
swimming pool.
4. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the
hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

5. Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised.
Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/o the
appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal
operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and
clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.
6. The supply circuit to the heater must incorporate a double pole isolating switch
having a constant separation of at least 3mm in all poles.
CAUTION
• Some parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Particular
attention has to be given where children and vulnerable people are present.
• Always disconnect the heater from the electricity supply and leave to cool for a
minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to work on or near it.
• Always ensure a safe means of access using an access tower or properly supported
ladder.
• Do not cover the heater.
• Do not position any combustible or heat sensitive materials too close to the heater.
• Do not use heater if the elements are broken - as injury may occur.
• Allow adequate time (minimum of 30 mins.) for the elements and body casing to
cool before attempting to work on the heater.
• Wiring between the heater and the spur outlet or isolation switch must be in a heat
resisting cable (e.g. polychloroprene).
Provide sucient slack to the cable to allow for angular adjustment of the body.
• The supply cord should be regularly examined for signs of damage and the
appliance is not to be used if the cord is damaged.

WARNING: KEEP BATTERIES OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
• Swallowing may lead to serious injury in as little as 2 hours or death, due to
chemical burns and potential perforation of the oesophagus.
• If you suspect your child has swallowed or inserted a battery go straight to a
hospital emergency room.
• Examine devices and make sure the battery compartment is correctly secured,
i.e. that the battery cover is fitted securely. Do not use if the compartment is not
secure.
• Dispose of used batteries immediately and safely. Flat batteries can still be
dangerous.

Cable Installation (see Fig 1 & 2)
Remove the two screws which hold the plastic terminal cover box (A) in place,
lift o the terminal cover box and set aside with the two screws for future use.
Remove the two screws securing the cable saddle clamp (B) and also set them
safely aside for future use.
Set the end of the power supply cable into position on the clamp (C) and strip
a suitable length of cable sheath o the end of the power supply cable so that
Live, Neutral and Earth wires are a suitable length to fit between the clamp (C)
and the screw fixing locations in the termial block provided (D) as shown.
Strip the ends of the Live, Neutral and Earth wires and fit each end under the
protector plates of the terminal block. Ensure the terminal screws are tight and
the wires are clamped securely by the terminal screws.
Place the end of the power supply cable sheath onto the the clamp (C). Refit
and tighten the cable saddle clamp (B) securely on top using the two screws
previously removed.
Refit the terminal cover box (A) to the base moulding using the two screws
previously removed.
Ensure the power supply cable when fitted does not make contact with the body
of the heater.
Commissioning
• Checks on the electrical installation should include earth continuity and insulation
tests and must be undertaken by a competent person.
• Ensure that all the electrical connections at the lamps and the terminal blocks
have been made correctly, that they are tight and that there is no loose or frayed
wire.
• Replace and secure the terminal cover box and replace and secure the front panel.
• Check that the mounting bracket is securely fixed in the vertical position such
that the lamps remain in a horizontal plane at all angles of heater displacement.
• Roughly align the heater(s) and tighten the adjusters.
• Switch on the heater(s) and check that the lamp(s) are all operating. If time or
temperature controls are fitted check these for correct and safe operation by
reference to the supplier’s instructions.
• Make any adjustments that are necessary to give an even spread of heat over the
required area. This may be done simply by perception of the heating eect or
by using the distribution of visible light either at night or by darkening the room.
Hand over
Hand over these instructions and make sure the user is familiar with all aspects
of operation and safety including the need for regular cleaning and an annual
inspection. In the event of the premises being unoccupied then leave heater(s)
switched o and isolated from the electrical supply. Leave instructions adjacent to
the electricity meter.

Element Replacement (see Fig. 3)

WARNING: Before undertaking this task ensure the heater is disconnected from the
electric supply and left to cool for a minimum of 30 minutes.
1. The heater should be taken o the wall.
2. Remove the 8 screws which hold the metal terminal cover box (A) on the back of
the heater.
3. This will allow access to the elements. Remove the retaining clips and spring clips
(C) to loosen the elements.
4. Disconnect the elements from their terminal blocks (B).
5. Remove the screws which hold the rear panel (D).
6. Remove the splash brackets (E) on the elements.
7. Bend the bars on the guard as indicated in Fig. 6 to remove it.
8. The old element should drop out through the front of the heater, reverse the process
when replacing with the new element.

Maintenance
Since the Dimplex Ceramic Radiant Heater contains no moving parts little maintenance
is required beyond cleaning and lamp replacement. It is however, essential that the
heater is not operated with accumulation of dust or dirt on the lamp(s) or reflector(s)
as this can cause a build up of heat and eventual damage. For this reason the heater
must be inspected regularly depending upon conditions and at least at yearly intervals.
Before undertaking any maintenance work on the heater due attention must be
paid to the following:
1. Always disconnect the heater from the electricity supply before attempting to
work on or near it.
2. Always ensure a safe means of access using an access tower or properly supported
ladder.
3. Allow at least 30 minutes for the lamps and body casing to cool before attempting
to work on the heater.
