Introduction
This guide supports the installation of a DB3, which is an all-in-one door lock and override interface module in Remote Start Ready (RSR)
mode. RSR is a function that enables the DB3 to remote start the vehicle completely on its own. Consequently, there is no need for an
aftermarket or an OEM remote starter in order to start the vehicle from a distance.
This solution may offer up to four (4) configuration options to control your system (all sold separately):
• 3x OEM Lock Remote Start Activation: if applicable, refer to the “Vehicle function compatibilities” section.
• SmartStart Pro Compatible: SmartStart Pro is equipped with D2D, which means it can be connected to an interface module and used
in RSR mode without the use of a remote starter. See “Module programming” for more information.
• Digital RF Kit Compatible: This firmware supports D2D 2.0, which means Digital RF kits can be connected to the interface module and
used when in RSR mode (compatible with firmware version ending with .101 or higher only).
• XL202 & Analog RF Kit
Notes
• This module can only be flashed and configured using DirectLink at www.directechs.com.
• RSR mode is not compatible with vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.

Firmware notes
Remote Start Ready (RSR):
•RSR installations are not compatible with vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
•RSR is a function that enables the interface module to remote start the vehicle completely on its own.
Consequently, there is no need for an aftermarket or an OEM remote starter in order to start the vehicle from a distance.
•SmartStart compatible: SmartStart is equipped with D2D, which means it can be connected to an interface module and used in
Remote Start Ready (RSR) mode without the use of a remote starter. See "Module programming" for more information.
T-Harness CHTHD2/THCHD2 notes:
•All T-Harness wires not listed in the diagram are not required for the installation.
•The OBDII Diagnostic Connector features will remain the same even when the T-Harness is installed.
•The optional Plug & Play T-Harness is sold separately
All connectors are displayed from the wire side (unless specified otherwise).

Module programming
Refer to “LED diagnostics and troubleshooting” for more information and for troubleshooting purposes.
Key-type Vehicles
1Ensure vehicle is in a safe location and cannot move forward during programming.

The harnesses must be connected in this exact order:
 a) Connect the 14-pin.
 b) Connect the 12-pin.
 c) Connect the 10-pin.
When the LED turns on solid red, proceed with the next step.

Insert the key into the ignition barrel and turn it to the ON position. It is important to wait for
the LED to start flashing green.
Note: Refer to the "LED Diagnostics" section for troubleshooting if the LED does not flash
green within 15 seconds.
4Turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition barrel.

IMPORTANT: The module will control door locks only if you follow the WITH factory keyless
method.
WITHOUT factory keyless or if OEM remote is unavailable:
Press and release the programming button.
The LED will turn ON solid green OR orange for 3 seconds and then shut off.
WITH factory keyless:
Press Lock or Unlock on the factory transmitter.
The LED will turn ON solid green OR orange for 3 seconds and then shut off.
You have successfully completed the module programming sequence.
