panel of the generator, before performing

very careful not to allow skin surfaces to be
damp. Since these articles constitute good

. With regard to electricity,be sure to follow all

All installationsand repairs must be performedby a
qualified

ExhaustGaseeare Toxlc
Exhaustgases include toxic componentssuch as
carbon monoxide. Therefore, inhaling exhaust
gasescan leadto losingconsciousness
or deatlt.
Carbonmonoxideis a colorless
and odorless
gas.
It will cause the followingtoxic symptomsto a
person
inhalingit:
Dizziness,headache,
vomiting,muscular
twitching, weakness, sleepiness and
throbbing
in temples.
lfyou feelone ofthe toxicsymptomsabove,
immediately
go out to the fresh air. Stop the generatorset. DO
NOToperateit until it has beencheckedand necessary
repairshave been made.
. Take adequate measures to properly discharge
exhaustgases to the atmosphere.
. Do not operatethe generator
set whereventilation
is poor, closeto buildings,other RV's,etc.
. At regular intervals,check the exhaustsystem tor
leaks.
. Do not operatethe generatorset with its exhaust
port directedto houses,passersby,
or livestock.

Fire near the banery is extremely dangerous.
Flammable

be ignited
or exploded.

The quality of gasoline engine oil bears close
relationship
to the engine performance and life. The
use of a poor grade oil or an oil having
viscositynot
suited
to your climatemay causehard startingand/or
premature
weardueto inadequate
lubricationofvarious
components,
evenleading to engineseizure.
CAUTION
1. When the engine is pr.rt into operationfor a long
periodof time,engineoil properties
are boundto
deteriorateas the engineoil is exposedto highly
heated components, or worn metal particles,
carbon,wateror dustgetsinto
theengineoil. lt is,
therefore, necessaryto change the engine oil at
regular
intervals,
2. Too low oil level not only will quicken oil
deterioration,btrt will cause engine seizure. So
replenishengineoil as soon as possible.
3. Mixingoilsof differentbrandsmightdeteriorateoil
properties. Therefore,avoid mixingengine oils of
differentbrands.

COOLANT

Selectlon
of Long Llfe Coolant& AntlfreezeSolutlon
Whenthe coolingwateris frozen,
thereis a possibility
that
the cylinderheador cylinderblock,
or possibly the
radiator,may be broken.
Longlifecoolantor antifreezeis mixed withthe cooling
water
to prevent freezing.
Thesesolutionscome in two kinds: Antifreezeis used
only duringa winter seasonmainly
for the purpose
of
preventing freezing. Long life coolant is used
throughout the year for the purpose of preventing
corrosionof the cooling
system,besides
the prevention
of freezing. Select 'long life coolant or antifreezefor
aluminumengines'. Use a mixturethat is best suited
foryour local
conditions
and temperature.
It is advisableto use long life coolant having the
following
features:
1.
Long life type coolant in which special rust
prohibitive
agents,anticorrosionagents,etc. have
been added (in largeramountsthan in antifreeze)
to a highly
pureethylene glycol.
The components of coolant of this type will hardly
evaporate. Simple replenishment of water will
maintainthe originalintended
performance.
'Longlife
coolant
for
aluminumengines'can
protect
aluminum alloys that do not have strong
rust/corrosion-withstanding
properties.
Also,it can
protectcast iron.
Long life coolant
prevents
wear
of the water
pump
or waterleakage.
CAUTION
Be sureto usetap waterto dilutelong life coolant
or antifreeze.
Keep the concentrationof long life coolant or
antifreeze at a level matched with the lowest
temperaturein your local
region.
3. Mixingof long lifecoolantor antifreeze
of different
brands might deteriorateits properties.Therefore,
avoid
mixingsolutions
of different brands.
4. Using100% of undilutedsolutiondoes not always
ensurethe safety of your engine. ln a very cold
climate,
100% antifreezeor long life coolant can
treeze
and cause damage.
5. The use of a poor grade antifreeze may cause
damage
to the engineand radiator.
Theuseof long
lifecoolantor antifreezefor cast iron enginesmay
cause
damageto aluminum,copper,
etc.
6. Longlifecoolant
or antifreeze is poisonous.
Besure
to keepit in the originalcontainerand alwaysstore
it in a place
where
children
can not reach.
LEADBATTERYELECTROLYTE
A mixing solutionof sulfuricacid and distilled
wateris
used as the battery electrolyte. Normally,the battery
electrolyte
is a diluted sulfuric acid having such a
concentrationthat its specific
gravity
becomes1.26at
a solution
temperature
of 20"C(68'F) in a fully
charged
state.
When
over-charged,thewater
component
ofthe battery
electrolyteis proneto evaporate.
lfthe batteryisoperatedcontinuallywiththe electrolyte
leveltoo low, it will no longer be possibleto store
electricity.Addwaterto compensateforthe evaporated
water.

generator windings, this fuse will open. This
prevents
damage
to thewindings.
When
this
fuse
opens,
the enginewillnot run,butthe starterwill
engage when start/stopswitch is pressedto the
start position.
NOTE:
lf eithermain or generator
fuse is open,

NOTE: In the eventthe enginedoes not stop when
start/stop
switchis depressed,
turn mainswitch
to OFF

Position

STARTING
1. Beforestarting
the engine,be sureto turn offthe
circuitbreaker,ordisconnectappliances
from
power
line,asfarasyou can. Thegenerator
maybe hard
to start if load is connected.
2. Pressthe start/stop
switchof the generator control
or remote controlto the ISTART]
position. The
starteroperates,
and thenthe engine
willstart.
3. Afterthe engine has started,release your finger
from the start/stop switch. The start/stopswitch
willautomatically
returnto the original
position.
CAUTION
. lfthe enginefails
to start inyourfirstattempt,
waitfor
about30 seconds. Thenproceed
to startthe engine,
lollowingthe starting
procedure.
. Theoperatingduration
of the startershould
be limited
to '10 seconds
for eachcranking.
CHECK
AFTERSTARTING
1. Afterthe enginehad started,warm up the engine
underunloaded
stateforfive
minutes.Performthe
enginewarm-up
fora slightly
longer
duration
during
a cold climate.
2. Checkvarious
partsof the engine
whilewarming
up the engine. (Pre-work
inspection)
A. Checkthe enginefor abnormal
noise.
B. Check the exhaust gases for improper
conditions.
CAUTION
. Besuretoavoid
applyingheavyloads
withoutwarming
up
theengine.
. The load should be limitedwithinthe ratedvalue
specifiedin the nameplate. Overloadmay cause
graveproblems
for the generator
set.
STOPPING
First,disconnectloads,
and then press the START/STOP
switch to the ISTOP] position,
the engine will stop.
Failure to follow this procedure may shorten the
generator
set life.

Normally,do not removethe radiator
cap. But if
the reservoir tank contains no coolant, it is
necessaryto remove
the radiatorcap and to fill

radiatorwith tap water.
After tap water has been replenished,install the
caps securely.

3. Drain the oil coolant. Fill

freezingand corrosion).
4. To keep the vacant space in the fuel tank at a
minimum level, fill the fuel tank with fuel after
stopping the engine during a cold season.
