The UV marks may be examined on the surface of the document when it
is put on the viewing table of the device. The IR marks and IR blink marks
can be examined on the 7" LCD of the device. When the IR marks are being
inspected on the display, a 20-fold zoom mode makes it possible to check the
structure of the mark lines without the video magnifier.
Anti-Stokes luminescence can be observed on the document at the point
of laser focusing (see. Fig. 1). Upon detection of the Anti-Stokes the audio
signal is generated (this function can also be deactivated through on-screen
menu). The information about the presence and type of applied luminophore is
displayed on the monitor.
The presence of magnetic ink is controlled by the built-in magnetic
sensor. Upon detection of magnetic ink the short audio signal is generated.
The device has an additional video input that makes it possible to display
video from an external video signal source, for example, from a CCTV camera.
The video output may be used for transmitting the image to an external display
or a computer.

Examine spect the UV-marks on the banknote (document) surface. The
«Fan» method of verification is also permitted when several documents (e.g.
banknotes) are placed on the device viewing table stacked in a fan shape. If a
simultaneous verification of the IR marks is required, use the tV key to select
the zoom 1x image on the display (message «Zoom 1x» shall appear on the
display). Then the UV-marks may be viewed directly on the document surface,
and the IR marks is on the display screen in the same scale.
CONTROL OF ANTI-STOKES LUMINESCENCE
Place a banknote or a document on the device viewing table thus the
fragment of a banknote which consists Anti-stokes luminescent area is under
the zone of IR laser. Keep the area of laser radiation away from a direct
sunlight or a direct light of an external source. Otherwise an observation of
Anti-stokes luminescence and a recognition of a luminophore type will be
troublesome or even impossible; in this case a message «OVEREXPOS» is
appeared on the screen of the device.
Press IR in the operation mode menu and select Anti-Stokes in the
opened submenu. When the sensor detects an Anti-stokes response, the
device switches off the white light to let a user observes this response as small
light point.
A message «Mx TYPE» (where a digit «x»means a certain type of lumino-
phore) has to appear on the screen.
The verification of Anti-stokes mark is recommended to carry out in the
following order:
– control the presence of luminophore lighting in the part of banknote with
anti-stokes mark;
– compare the color of luminophore lighting with the color indicated in the
banknote security features map;
– compare the mark type (М1, М2, М3, etc.) with the mark type indicated in
the banknote security features map.
If an unknown type of luminophore has been detected, a message
«UNKNOWN» is appeared on the screen. If there is no Anti-stokes
luminescence, a message «NO A/S» is appeared.
VERIFYING MAGNETIC MARK
The verification of magnetic marks is active in all operation modes except
Anti-Stokes mode. Pass a part of banknote, which has a magnetic mark, cross
the head of inductive sensor. At the detection of magnetic mark the audio
signal will be generated. To improve the quality of magnetic marks control, for
example for verification of worn-out banknote, put the banknote on the
magnetic bias area for several seconds.
VERIFYING IR MARKS
Place a banknote or a document on the viewing table. Use the TV key ()
to select the required zoom. To verify the chart of the IR marks, use zoom 1x.
Zoom 20x is used if it is necessary to study in detail the structure of the
document part visible at IR light. In this case, use the on-screen menu to adjust
the required brightness and the contrast of the image on the display. Observe
the IR marks on the screen.
VERIFYING IR BLINK MARKS
Place a banknote or a document on the device viewing table. The docu-
ment inside the device shall avoid direct sunlight or the light from powerful
incandescent lamps. Otherwise inspection of the mark will be difficult or

absolutely impossible. Choose built-in camera with no magnification (1x) as a
source of signal. Switch on the verifying IR blink marks mode by pressing the
IR key () – the «IR Blink» message shall be displayed. If it is required,
adjust the required brightness and contrast of the image on the display . The IR
blink marks should clearly blink with an interval of about 2 times per second. A
repeated pressing of the IR key (message «IR» shall be displayed) switches
off the mode.
REFLECTED LIGHT CONTROL
You can use a source of top white light or a source of oblique white light for
the reflected light control.
Place a banknote or a document on the viewing table of the detector. Use
DL key () for switching on a source of top white light (a message «TOP
WHITE» is appeared on the screen) or a source of oblique white light (a
message «Oblique white» is appeared on the screen). Examine a banknote
(or a document).
These modes are ideal for control of such security features as color
variable inks and latent images. Besides that, you can evaluate a height of
printed elements, since high elements are produced remarkable shadows
under oblique light.
The detector is used LEDs of high brightness as sources of white light,
therefore WE STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT LOOK AT SOURCES OF
WHITE LIGHT.
VERIFYING MARKS, PRINTED BY OPTICAL VARIABLE INKS (OVI)
Place a banknote or a document on the device viewing table. To obtain the
most obvious change in color, the banknote shall be either in the middle of the
viewing table or closer to its back edge. Press the DL key () to switch on the
mode of a variable color ink inspection (message «Variable color» will be
displayed). Monitor the color of the marks printed in a variable color ink. The
given mode is distinguished by a periodical switching over of the angle of
incidence of the top white light to the banknote. Due to this, the banknote
security mark printed in the variable color ink alternately changes its color . The
color of the marks shall change within the limits specified in description of the
banknote security features. If a mark on the banknote does not change its
color in compliance with the description, the banknote may be counterfeited,
that‘s why the other authenticity marks need verification. Visibility of the mark
shall change on banknotes of some currencies, for example, on euro
banknotes. Next pressing of the DL key switches off the white illumination
source.
CONTROL WITH VERIFYING IN WHITE TRANSMITTED LIGHT AND IR
TRANSMITTED LIGHT
Place a banknote or a document on the viewing table. Press the DL key
() to switch on the bottom illumination source (the «Bottom White + IR»
message will be displayed). The source inside the viewing table is emitted
simultaneously white light and transmitted IR light; meanwhile the top source of
IR light is switched off. The mode is good for verification of the watermarks and
imprinted metalized stripes with drawing, micro perforations etc. The screen
shows the image obtained at its transmission by IR-rays. It makes possible to
examine watermarks and markings on the metalized stripes with better
contrast;this mode is good for Euro banknotes control. The best way of micro
per foration control is 20x zoom mode. The authentic h oles of micro
perforations are located with a constant pitch, have a round form and the same
size; there is not observed any darkening of paper or its thickening at their
edges.
SIZE CONTROL
To check the dimensions of the banknotes and the accuracy of the sepa-
rate marks located on them, use the control scale applied on a matt glass of
the viewing table.

NECTED FROM THE POWER SOCKET OR SWITCHED OFF WITH A
POWER SWITCH!
Switch on the device. Press the SELECT key on the top of the magni-
fier. The device automatically switches to the mode of image examination
through the magnifier. Further pressing of the given key makes possible
selection of the required illumination source. Magnifier DORS 1020 has three
light sources: white, IR and UV. The message in the top part of the screen
indicates the examination mode.
Long pressing of the TV key () switches the device for viewing with the
built-in camera. Returning to operation with the video magnifier requires one
more long pressing of the TV key, or pressing of the SELECT key () on the
top of the magnifier.
AUTO OFF MODE
The auto off mode is controlled by the on-screen menu (see Fig. 4).
If the auto off mode is selected, the device automatically goes to the
standby mode after the choosen period of time (3, 10, 30 or 60 minutes) since
the last pressing of any key. Appearance of a message in left bottom corner of
the screen means the auto off mode is turned on; the message shows the
period of time after which the detector will go to the standby mode.
When in the standby mode, the power switch indicator continues to light
but all the light sources, and the display backlight and most of other power
consumers of the device get switched off. This ensures lowered power
consumption.
To leave the standby mode, press any operation key. The device goes to
the mode corresponding to the pressed key. If the key ↑ , ↓ , ←, → or the SET
key is pressed that control the mode only with the help of the menu, the device
goes to the IR-illumination mode.
SWITCHING DEVICE OFF
Press the off power switch key ; here the switch illumination shall go out.

power supply or not. It is worth disconnecting only in case of a long-term
(more than several days) device standing by.
If it is necessary to install the device on a new place after it was switched
off, one shall place the display body in a transportation position. To do it,
turn the display around a vertical axis so that the screen surface became
parallel to the device rear wall. Then lower (without any excessive strength) the
display body in a horizontal position with the screen down up to touching the
device body. Disconnect the power plug from the power socket. Having done
this, one may move the device to a new place.
