Eyeand ear protection must be worn at all times while the grinder is in use. During normal operation,
sound pressure levels mayexceed 92dBA. Use onlyANSI approved safetyglasses to help prevent eye
injury.Everyday eyeglasses have onlyimpact resistant lenses; theyare NOTsafety glasses.
Operator must wear appropriate clothing and footwear.Do not wear loose clothing or jewelrythat can
gettangled inmovingparts. Footwearshouldprovidesurefooting andprotection.
Materials beingremoved can be toxic or hazardous.A breathing respirator is requiredto help protect the operator
frominhalingthe airborne materialwhenoperatingthis machine.
•Inspectthe worksurface forcracks, unevenjoints andforeignobjects suchasnails, screwsandpipes. Damage tothe
disc and/or equipment mayresult which can also cause serious injury to the operator.Hazardous areas should be
properlyidentifiedandclearlymarked.
•TheTMC-7, EDG-7 andTG-7are designed tobe controlled byasingle operator.
•Inspect the discs carefully before installing. Do not use any questionable disc since serious personal injury and/or
damage to propertycan result.
•Neveroperate this grinderwhile underthe influence ofdrugs, alcohol or whentakingmedications that impairthe

Before Operation:
•Before starting the engine, performavisual inspection ofthe entire machine. Be sure all fasteners are tight and
secure, checkfor signs ofmetal cracking or fatigue, inspect for damage. Be sure guards are in place, secure and
undamaged.
•Inspect diamond grinding disc. Checkfor loose ordamaged diamond segmentsand replace ifnecessary.Check
that the damond disc has been correctlymounted and be sure it is tight. Different diamond/matrix discs wear at
different rates. Be sure to use the correct diamond/matrix combination for your specific application.
Operating Instructions
TheEDCOedgegrindersaredesignedtobeusedinconjunctionwithother EDCOsurfacepreparationproducts.It’ssmall,
lightweight construction allowsthe operator to grind close to obstacles.
Theseunits areequipped withasingle7”diameterDiamond SegmentedDisc thatisanaggressivesurface materialgrinder
for removing excess concrete, epoxymortar, urethane coatings and overlays, and non-skid abrasive coatings on steel,
concrete, or polymer slab floors.Ascarifier disc is optional. This machine is capable ofeither wet or dry grinding.
To Start Grinding:
•Operating the machine fromthe rear, push down, or ifoperating fromthe front, lift the handle veryslightlyto shift
someofthe weight off ofthe disc, but do not let the disc liftfromthe slab surface. The slight weight shiftwill aid the
engine in reaching the operating speed without an excessive start-up power draw.Once the engine reaches operat-
ing speed, allow the edger-grinder to settle backdownon the slab with the full weight on the disc.
•Ifthe disc is out ofbalance, stop immediately and have the problemfixed or damage to the equipment will result.
For Wet Grinding:
•Water is not necessary as acoolant but rather as ameans ofcontrolling dust. Lightly dampen the floor or use a
finemist.
Do not use an excessive amount ofwater .Excess water on the surface will create adangerous, slippery
surfaceandmore workduringcleanup.
•Sprinkle asmall amount ofsand on the slab to create aslurry during grinding. The slurry tends to keep the dia-
monds free frombuild up and the cutting edge exposed. Ifasqueaking sound is heard or the machine tends to pull
to one side, the diamond segmentsmayhave filled and are no longer grinding effectively.Discontinue use of
machine. Makesure the throttle is completelyclosed (full stop position) to insure the engine will not accidentlyfire
(kickback)when removing the disc which could cause bodily injury and/or damage to the machine. Then followthe
directions for replacing the diamond disc or optional scarifier disc.

Replacing the Diamond Grinding Disc:
•Makesure the throttle is fullyclosed (full stop position) to insure there will be
no accidental engine starting while cleaning or replacing the disc.
•Togain access to the disc, push downon the handle in the rear
optional position (Figure 1)and pivot the unit backon the wheels until it comes
to rest on the handle. (The belt tensioning bolt is also visible fromthis position.)
•Unbolt the diamond disc and remove the disc.
•Replace with anewdisc bysimplyreversing the procedure.
For DryGrinding:
Checkmaterials being removed to determine ifthey are listed on an EPAhazardous substance list. A
breathingrespirator is requiredto helpprotect the operator.
•TheEDCO VAC-100, VAC-160andVAC-150 haveavailableoptionalHEPA filter kitsdesignedtobe usedwhen
removinghazardousmaterials. Standard,shop-vacstylevacuumsare notcapableofextendedoperation. Inaddition,
thesestandard vacs usepaper bag filtersthat can clogand overloadthe vacuummotor.
•Drygrinding createsalargevolumeofairborne dust.Theedgers areequippedwitha1-1/2” vacuumportforattaching
ahighvolumeindustrial vacuumcapableofremoving particles tothreemicrons. Ifthe materialsinvolvedarehazardous,
orunknownand assumed hazardous, the operator mustassumeresponsibilityfor the properhandling and disposalof
thehazardous material.
Note: Hazardousdebris, includingvacuumfilters, must bedisposedofproperlyaccordingtoOSHA andgovernment
standards.
Inspect drivebelt:
•Checkbelt tension. On newequipment, and after installing anewbelt, the
beltshould be retensioned after the firstfour hours ofuse. A damaged,
stretched, or worn belt should be replaced with anewone. (Figure 3-Shown
withbeltcoverremoved.)
•Adjust belt tension (Figure 3).Loosen belt tensioning bolt(Figure 2) and slide
pulley to provide more tension against drive belt.

Maintenance
Makesure the throttle is completelyclosed (full stop position) to insure the engine will not accidently fire
(kickback)while performinganymaintenance.
•Allmaintenanceshould beperformedregularlyandbyqualified personnelonly.
•Neverworkunder equipmentwithoutfirst properlysecuringtheequipmentto preventitfrommovingorfalling.Always
workonaflat and levelsurface.
•Grease disc bearings every4hours ofuse. Toaccess the bearings on the EDG-7 andTG-7, simplyremove the
front cap-plug cover (Figure 4)with aflat screwdriver. Both ofthe bearings are self-aligning, sealed flange mounted,
equipped with grease fittings. Toaccess the fitting on the TMC-7 refer to(Figure 4A).These bearings should be
lubricated with Lubriplate No. 630-2, or equivalent bearing grease. Do not over lubricate. Be sure to clean up any
excess grease after lubricating the bearings.
•Lubricate the wheel bearings fromtimeto timewith an occasional drop or twoofoil to prevent binding.
•Totension the belt, the Grinders are outfitted with atensioning pulley (Figure 3). Proper belt tension must be
maintained to transmit the motor power to the grinding disc. Damage to the motor will occur and disklifeshortened
ifbelts are not kept at the proper tension.
•Keep the Grinders clean. Be sure the safety decals are readable and properlymaintained on the machine.
