Alarm for monitoring the concentration of poisonous gas carbon monoxide (CO)
This manual contains important safety information regarding the installation and operation of the
warning device. Read the manual carefully and store it in a safe place for future use or for when the
device is passed on to another user.
Warning
The installation of a warning device (alarm) for monitoring CO concentration is not a substitute for
correct installation, use and maintenance of fuel-burning devices, including proper ventilation and
exhaust systems.
This warning device for monitoring CO concentration is designed for protecting persons against imminent
eects of short-term exposure to carbon monoxide , but cannot fully protect persons with particular
health issues. When in doubt, consult your doctor.
Long-term exposure to low concentrations of CO (>10 ppm) can cause chronic eects.When in doubt,
consult your doctor.
The device is only used to detect carbon monoxide (CO), not any other gases.

What Is Carbon monoxide (CO)
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odourless, invisible, highly poisonous gas.
It is created through incomplete combustion of fuels, such as wood, wooden coal, coal, fuel oil, paran,
gasoline, natural gas, propane, butane, etc., and from cigarette smoke.
A dangerous concentration of CO can form if the fuel-consuming device is faulty or not properly main-
tained, if the ue is blocked or the room insuciently aired.
The seriousness of CO inhalation poisoning depends on concentration (listed as number of particles
per million, ppm) and the duration of exposure.
Concentration Symptoms
100 ppm No symptoms – no danger
200 ppm Slight headaches
400 ppm Strong headaches after 1–2 hours
800 ppm Strong headaches after 45 minutes, nausea, faintness and unconsciousness
after 2 hours
1 000 ppm Dangerous concentration - unconsciousness after 1 hour
1 600 ppm Nausea, strong headaches and dizziness after 20 minutes
3 200 ppm Nausea, strong headaches and dizziness after 5–10 minutes, unconsciousness

All persons residing on the premises should be made aware of the symptoms of CO poisoning!
The device for monitoring CO concentration activates the alarm if it detects a certain concentration of
CO for a certain duration:

Installation
The installation must be performed by a qualied person.
Ideally, the warning device should be located in every room with a fuel-burning device.
It is strongly recommended to also install warning devices in bedrooms and rooms where you spend
a lot of time.
It the warning device is installed in the same room as the fuel-burning device:
• Place the warning device in the vicinity of the ceiling and above the level of the top edge of
windows and doors.
• When installing onto the ceiling, the warning device must be located at least 30 cm away from walls.
• When installing onto a wall, the warning device must be located at least 15 cm from the ceiling
and 180 cm from the oor.
• Do not install the warning device in rooms with vaulted ceilings or gable roof.
• Do not install the warning device in the vicinity of ventilation openings or windows/doors leading
to the outside.

• Do not install the warning device behind curtains/furniture; doing so would decrease the ability
of the device to correctly detect the CO level.
• Do not install the warning device in an area with temperature lower than -10 °C or higher than 40 °C.
• If possible, install the warning device approximately at eye level for ease of checking the LED indicators.
• If you are only installing one warning device, place it in the vicinity of the bedroom (not in the
basement etc.).
• Make sure that you can hear all the installed warning devices from the room where you sleep.
• The warning device must be located at a distance of 1 m to 3 m horizontally from the nearest edge
of a potential CO source.
• The ventilation openings of the warning device must not be covered up.
• Do not spray aerosol agents in the vicinity or onto the warning device.
• Do not paint the warning device.
• If the warning device is located in a room without a fuel-burning device, it must be located in the
vicinity of the breathing area of the persons residing in the room.
• In open-plan rooms for both sleeping and residence at the same time, such as one-room ats,
caravans or boats, the device must be located as far away as possible from cookers while also being
in the vicinity of the space reserved for sleeping.

Suggestions for the placement of additional CO alarms in the building

Drill two holes (ø 5 mm) into the wall; the distance between the holes should be 52 mm.
Insert the wall plugs provided, then insert the screws provided into the wall plugs.
Insert the screws so that ca 5 cm protrude out of the wall.

Put batteries into the alarm and test its functionality, see Testing Mode.
If the alarm works, close the battery cover and t the two openings on the battery cover onto the
protruding screws.
PUTTING INTO OPERATION
Insert batteries (2× 1.5 V AA) into the battery compartment on the back.
Only use alkaline batteries of the same type, never use rechargeable batteries.
Warning: The battery cover cannot be shut unless both batteries are in place! The closing of the battery cover
is prevented by two metal bumps underneath the battery compartment. If you wish to mount the device onto
a wall, batteries must always be inserted and the battery cover closed.
After inserting batteries, you will hear a beep and all three diodes will ash at the same time (POWER,
FAULT, ALARM).
The green POWER LED will ash 1× every 3 seconds for a duration of 30 seconds after battery insertion;
the device is calibrating.
After 30 seconds, the POWER LED will ash 1× every 30 seconds to indicate that the batteries are working.
Note: After inserting the batteries, it is possible that the alarm will be making an acoustic signal for several
minutes until it transitions to standard mode. If the acoustic signal does not stop, contact the service centre.
TESTING MODE
Whenever needed or during every battery replacement, you can test the functionality of the alarm.
Press and hold the TEST/SILENCE button. The alarm will simultaneously beep and ash its ALARM LED
4× every 5 seconds.
Release the TEST/SILENCE button; the alarm is ready for use.
Use testing mode 1× a week to make sure the alarm is operational.
Note: The acoustic and optical alarm during testing is only used as indication that the alarm is operational.
It does not mean that the presence of CO has been detected.
FAULT STATE
If the alarm is in fault state, it is not operational and does not measure CO levels in the room.
Fault state is indicated by simultaneous beeping/ashing of yellow FAULT LED 1× every 30 seconds.
Immediately replace batteries.
Perform a functionality test.
If the fault state persists even after batteries have been replaced, contact the service centre.
FLAT BATTERIES
Flat batteries in the alarm are indicated by simultaneous beeping/ashing of yellow FAULT LED 2×
every 30 seconds.
The alarm is not operational and does not measure CO levels in the room.
Immediately replace batteries. Perform a functionality test.
It is recommended to replace batteries 1× a year as a precaution.
MANUAL ALARM SILENCING
The acoustic signal for at battery can be temporarily silenced.
Press the TEST/SILENCE button; the alarm will stop beeping for 9 hours (then the acoustic signal
reactivates).
The yellow FAULT LED will continue signalling that the batteries are at.

END OF ALARM‘S SERVICE LIFE
After 10 years since production, the alarm must be replaced and its use must be discontinued.
The production date is listed on the back to the top right of the battery compartment.
The end of the service life of the device is indicated as follows:
Simultaneous beeping/ashing of yellow FAULT LED 3× every 30 seconds.
CO WARNING
If the alarm detects dangerous amounts of CO, optical and acoustic warning will be activated.
The alarm will simultaneously beep/the ALARM LED will ash 4× every 5 seconds.
The loudness of the acoustic signal will be below 85 dB for the rst 10 seconds, then it increases.
The warning will be active for the duration of CO presence, until CO levels drop below the danger level
or the alarm is silenced manually.
MANUAL SILENCING OF THE ALARM UPON CO DETECTION
The acoustic signal for CO presence can be temporarily silenced.
Press the TEST/SILENCE button to silence the acoustic signal for 5 minutes.
The LED - ALARM will continue ashing.
Note: The warning will once again be active within 6 minutes of the pressing of TEST/SILENCE button as long
as the CO level is equal to or above 45 ppm.
WHAT TO DO WHEN CO IS DETECTED IN THE BUILDING
If CO is detected in the building, keep calm and do the following:
Stop using all fuel-burning devices and turn them o if possible.
Silence the alarm by pressing the TEST/SILENCE button.
Make all persons on the premises aware of the situation!
Open all doors and windows and air the area.
If the alarm persists, leave the premises.
Check that all persons have left the premises!
Leave the doors and windows open until the alarm stops.
Secure medical attention for all persons suering from symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning
(headaches, nausea).
Inform the doctors of the suspected carbon monoxide inhalation.
Do not use the fuel-burning appliances until they have been checked by a qualied person.
Note: There may be other sources of carbon monoxide aside from fuel-burning devices. E.g.: emissions from
smouldering re, larger amount of tobacco smoke etc.
Note:
Some substances may aect the sensitivity of the sensor inside the alarm, such as:
Methane, propane, isobutene, isopropanol, ethylene, benzole, toluene, ethyl acetate, hydrogen sul-
phide, alcohol-based agents, paint, solvents, adhesives, hair spray, aftershaves, perfumes and some
cleaning agents.

Care and Maintenance
The product is designed to provide trouble-free service for many years if used appropriately. Some
advice for proper operation:
• Read the manual carefully before using this product.
• The product must be replaced with a new one after 10 years – see production date on the back.
• The product must not be painted.
• Do not expose the product to direct sunlight, extreme cold and moisture, and sudden changes in
temperature.This would reduce accuracy of detection.
• Do not place the product in locations prone to vibration and shocks – these may cause damage.
• Do not expose the product to excessive force, impacts, dust, high temperatures or humidity - these
may cause malfunction, shorter battery life, damage to batteries and deformation of plastic parts.
• Do not expose the product to rain or high humidity, dropping or splashing water.
• Do not place any open ame sources on the product, e.g. a lit candle, etc.
• Do not place the product to places with inadequate air ow.
• Do not insert any objects in the product vents, do not cover up the product.
• Do not tamper with the internal electric circuits of the product – doing so may damage the
product, which will automatically void the warranty. The product should only be repaired by a
qualied professional.
• To clean the product, use a slightly moistened soft cloth. Do not use solvents or cleaning agents -
they could scratch the plastic parts and cause corrosion of the electric circuits.
• Do not immerse the product in water or other liquids.
• In the event of damage or defect of the product, do not perform any repairs by yourself. Have it
repaired in the shop where you bought it.
• This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or
mental disability or lack of experience and expertise prevents safe use, unless they are supervised
or instructed in the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. It is necessary to
supervise children to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
Do not dispose of the product or the batteries after the end of their service life as unsorted
municipal waste; use sorted waste collection points. Correct disposal of the product will prevent
adverse eects on human health and the environment. Recycling of materials contributes to the
protection of natural resources. For more information about recycling of this product, contact
the municipal authority, organization for processing household waste or the point of sale where you
purchased the product.

Výstražné zařízení (alarm) pro sledování koncentrace jedovatého oxidu uhelnatého (CO)
Tento návod obsahuje důležité bezpečnostní informace o instalaci a provozu výstražného zařízení. Pozor-
ně si tento návod přečtěte a bezpečně jej uschovejte pro budoucí potřebu i pro případ předání zařízení.
Varování
Instalace výstražného zařízení (alarmu) pro sledování koncentrace CO nenahrazuje správnou instalaci,
používání a údržbu zařízení spalujících palivo, včetně vhodných ventilačních a odtahových systémů.

Toto výstražné zařízení pro sledování koncentrace CO je určeno pro ochranu osob před akutními účinky
krátkodobého vlivu oxidu uhelnatého, nicméně zcela neochrání osoby, které mají zvláštní zdravotní stav.
V případě pochybností se poraďte se svým lékařem.
Dlouhodobé vystavování se nízké úrovní CO (>10 ppm) může vyvolat chronické účinky. V případě
pochybností se poraďte se svým lékařem.
Toto zařízení slouží k detekci pouze oxidu uhelnatého (CO), nedetekuje jiné plyny.

Co je Oxid uhelnatý (CO)
Oxid uhelnatý (CO) je neviditelný plyn bez zápachu, který je prudce jedovatý.
Vzniká nedokonalým spalováním paliv, například dřeva, dřevěného uhlí, uhlí, topného oleje, parafínu,
benzínu, zemního plynu, propanu, butanu atd. a z cigaretového kouře.
Nebezpečná koncentrace CO může vzniknout, pokud je zařízení vadné nebo nesprávně udržované, při
zablokování kouřovodu nebo při nedostatečném větrání místnosti.
Závažnost otravy vdechnutím CO závisí na koncentraci (uváděné jako počet částic na jeden milión,
ppm) a délce expozice.

Ohledně příznaků otravy CO by měly být poučeny všechny osoby, které pobývají v objektu!

Instalace
Instalaci musí provádět kompetentní osoba.
V ideálním případě by výstražné zařízení mělo být v každé místnosti, kde se nachází zařízení spalující palivo.
Důrazně doporučujeme nainstalovat výstražná zařízení také do ložnic a místností, kde trávíte hodně času.
Je-li výstražné zařízení nainstalováno ve stejné místnosti jako zařízení spalující palivo:
• Umístěte výstražné zařízení do blízkosti stropu a nad úroveň horních hran oken a dveří.
• Při instalaci na strop musí být výstražné zařízení umístěno minimálně 30 cm od stěn.
• Při instalaci na stěnu musí být výstražné zařízení umístěno minimálně 15 cm od stropu, 180 cm od země.
• Neinstalujte výstražné zařízení v prostorách, jako jsou klenuté stropy, sedlová střecha.
• Neinstalujte výstražné zařízení blízko větracích otvorů nebo oken/dveří které vedou ven.
• Neinstalujtevýstražné zařízení zazávěsy/nábytek, zhoršila by se možnost správně detekovat úroveň CO.
• Neinstalujte výstražné zařízení v prostoru, kde je teplota nižší než -10 °C nebo vyšší než 40 °C.
• Pokud je to možné, instalujte výstražné zařízení v přibližné úrovni očí pro snadnou kontrolu stavu
LED diod.
• Pokud instalujete pouze jedno výstražné zařízení, umístěte ho blízko ložnice (ne ve sklepě atd.).
• Ujistěte se, že v místnosti kde spíte, uslyšíte všechny nainstalované výstražné zařízení.
• Výstražné zařízení je třeba umístit ve vodorovné vzdálenosti 1 m až 3 m od nejbližšího okraje
potenciálního zdroje CO.
• Ventilační otvory výstražného zařízení nesmí být zakryty.
• Nestříkejte aerosolové přípravky v blízkosti a na výstražné zařízení.
• Výstražné zařízení se nesmí barvit.
• Je-li výstražné zařízení nainstalováno v místnosti, v níž se nenachází zařízení spalující palivo, je třeba
je umístit do blízkosti dýchací oblasti osob obývajících místnost.
• V jednoprostorových místnostech určených pro spaní i obývání současně, jako jsou garsoniéry,
karavany nebo lodě, je třeba umístit zařízení co nejdále od vařičů a současně do blízkosti místa
vyhrazeného pro spaní.

Instalace zařízení na zeď
Otvory pro zavěšení na zeď
Vyvrtejte dva otvory (ø 5 mm) do zdi, vzdálenost otvorů mezi sebou by měla být 52 mm.
Do otvorů zasuňte přiložené hmoždinky, do hmoždinek zasuňte přiložené vruty.
Vruty zasuňte tak, aby zůstaly cca 5 mm vytaženy ze zdi.
Vložte do alarmu baterie a vyzkoušejte jeho funkčnost, viz Testovací režim.
Pokud je alarm funkční, zavřete bateriový kryt a nasaďte alarm pomocí dvou otvorů na bateriovém
krytu na vyčnívající vruty.
UVEDENÍ DO PROVOZU
Vložte baterie (2× 1,5 V AA) do bateriového prostoru na zadní straně zařízení.
Používejte pouze alkalické baterie stejného typu, nikdy nepoužívejte nabíjecí baterie.
Upozornění: Pokud nejsou vloženy obě baterie, nelze zavřít bateriový kryt! Zavření bateriového krytu brání
dva kovové výstupky pod bateriovým prostorem. Pokud chcete zařízení instalovat na zeď, je nutné mít vždy
vložené baterie a nasazený bateriový kryt.
