Pumped up USB power
Powered USB, the new standard in
USB technology, brings the promise
of true “plug and play” connectivity
to the retail environment. Using a
single cable connection, Powered
USB supplies standard USB commu-
nication signals and all the power
needed to connect up to 127
peripheral devices from a single host
controller. By eliminating the need
for multiple cables and external
power supplies, Powered USB
reduces overall hardware costs and
provides a more elegant and stable
connectivity solution.
Overcome USB limitations
A standard USB module provides up
to 500mA of +5V power, enough to
support basic PC peripherals such as a
mouse and keyboard. When addition-
al peripherals are added, standard
USB power is insufficient, requiring
you to add an external power supply.
Powered USB overcomes this limita-
tion by increasing individual port
power. Epson’s Powered USB
Connect-It Module takes advantage
of your POS system’s +24V Powered
USB port to drive your Epson printer.
Get the fastest connection going
From the host to the printer, Powered
USB transfers information at speeds
up to 12 Mbps and it integrates a host
locking cable mechanism to prevent
accidental disconnection. Compared
to a serial connection at just 14.4 KB
per second or standard parallel at 115
KB per second, Powered USB’s ultra-
fast data transfer speed makes it
today’s most competitive choice.
Epson quality and reliability
Epson’s Connect-It interface family
includes a full range of connectivity
options designed to increase the speed
and performance of current and lega-
cy systems. Our powered USB
Connect-It interface is built upon
industry standard technology to work
seamless with Epson POS printers.
You can depend on Epson to deliver
the innovative POS technology you
need today and in the future.
•Single, streamlined cable supplies both power
and data to reduce hardware costs and clutter
•Connects up to 127 devices from one host
controller
•Easy to install without port conflicts or DIP
switch changes
•Fast and easy installation into Epson POS printers
Epson
Powered USB
Module
With both power and data channeled through a
single cable, Epson’s Powered USB Connect-It™
interface cuts your costs and your clutter.
Now you can supply your Epson printers and other POS
peripherals with the increased power they require with
Powered USB, the most simple, clean, cost-effective
connection technology since USB itself.
