2 Basic safety information
2.1 Intended use
The ESYLUX Touch wall-mounted detector is intended for indoor use. It can
only be used in rooms with higher levels of humidity such as bathrooms or
cellar spaces if used in combination with the ESYLUX cover IP 44 (item
number EM10055157).
The intended use also includes all functions described in these instruc-
tions.
The device may only be operated if it is secured with a 10-A circuit break-
er. In the PD-C 180i/16 Touch (CH) models, the D1/D2 input must also be
protected with the 2-A circuit breaker.
2.2 Liability and damages
This product is designed only for its intended purpose, which is described
in the corresponding section of these instructions. The device must not be
changed,modiedorpainted—doingsowillvoidanywarrantyclaims.
The manufacturer will not accept any liability for instances of personal inju-
ry or property damage caused by improper use.
2.3 Safety instructions
Electrical devices connected to a 230V supply voltage may only be assem-
bled and commissioned by electrical installation technicians or trained
electricians,inconsiderationofcountry-specicregulations.

3 Product description
3.1 Introduction
The ESYLUX wall-mounted detectors in the MD-C 180i Touch-/PD-C 180i
Touch plus series are passive infrared detectors that react to moving heat

sources. They are designed for interior rooms with limited daylight, for ex-
ample corridors, cellars and staircases. An integrated microphone enhances
the motion detection capacity and means the detectors are also suitable
for use in non-square rooms. In combination with the ESYLUX cover IP 44
(item number EM10055157), the Touch wall detectors can also be used in
bathrooms or other rooms with high humidity levels.
When presence is detected, the detectors can switch connected consumers
on and off via relays. In addition to the presence of people, they also detect
the strength of the ambient light.
3.2 Differences between the presence detectors and motion
detectors
The wall-mounted detectors are available as presence detectors (models
PD-C 180i/16 Touch plus and PD-C 180i/16 Touch plus CH) and as motion
detectors (model MD-C 180i/16 Touch and MD-C 180i/16 Touch CH).
The presence detector is more suitable for the detection of smaller move-
ments, for example, people performing seated activities. The presence
detector also has an additional switching channel. This is suitable, for
example, for heating, air-conditioning and cooling devices.
The motion detector is particularly suitable for rooms with high volumes of
throughtrafc.
3.3 Functions and specication
Both models offer the following important features:

• Integrated microphone for detection in non-square spaces

4.3.1 Flush mounting
Installation in a simple European recessed box (not included)
Connect the detector according to the wiring diagram (see “4.2 Con-
nection”).
Screwthedetectorintotheushmountingsocket.
Then attach the frame:
Screw the detector cover onto the frame in the detector.

4.3.2 Surface mounting
For surface mounting, you will need the ESYLUX surface-mounted box IP
20/IP 44 (item number EM10055164).
Connect the detector according to the wiring diagram (see section
“4.2 Connection”).
Screw the detector into the surface-mounted box.
Then attach the frame:
Screw the detector cover onto the frame on the detector.
4.4 Warm-up phase
The warm-up phase starts every time the power is switched on. During this
phase, the detector either loads the factory settings (program 1) or the last
used program (program 1-5). The detector is ready for use after approx. 30
seconds.
Detector behaviour when started using the factory settings:
• Channel 1 is closed, a connected luminaire is switched on.
• Model Model PD-C 180i Touch plus: Channel 2 is open.
• LED signals: Multiple sequences of dark blue and red. Ends with light
blue.

5 Touch panel operation
The touch panel is in the top area of the lens body:
The touch panel distinguishes between two different types of touch:
• Short: Touch for a duration of 0.5 to 3 seconds
• Long: Touch for a duration of longer than 3 seconds
Using these two touch methods, you can switch the detector on or off, and
switch between the different operating programs.
5.1 Switching on and off and selecting a program
Switch on/off
A short touch (0.5 to 3 seconds) switches the detector on and off.
Exception: If you set the detector to operating program 3, you can
switch the detector on with a short touch, but you cannot switch
it off. For more information about the differences between the
programs, see section 6.
Program selection
A long touch (longer than 3 seconds) can be used to open and close the
program selection mode. In program selection mode, you can switch the
detector to a different program.
To select a different program:
1. Touch the touch panel for longer than three seconds (long touch).
ThelightblueLEDashes,rstquicklyandthenslowly.

The detector is now in program selection mode.
2. Touch the touch panel for longer than half a second, and less than
three seconds (short touch).
The detector switches to the next program, for example, from pro-
gram 3 to program 4.

3. Use further short touches change the program until you reach the
program you require.
4. Use a long touch to save the program selection and exit Program
selection mode.
The detector is set to the required programming mode.
In program selection mode, the program number is increased from
program 1 to 5 with each short touch. After program 5 is reached,
the count begins again at program 1.
The detector exits program selection mode automatically after 10
seconds if the touch panel is not touched.
6 Reset programs
Thedetectorhasveprograms.Fourofthesecontainsettingsfordifferent
applications.Thefthprogramcanbeprogrammedtoyourownsettingsvia
remote control.
The four programs have different settings for the following parameters:
• Length of switch-off delay time
• Switching threshold: The detector switches on as soon as the ambient
light drops below the set value and presence is detected. The detec-
tor switches off when the brightness reaches or exceeds the set Lux
value.
• Automatic mode:
In fully automatic mode, the lighting switches on automatically when
the detector detects a presence.
In semi-automatic mode, the detector has to be activated manually
for the presence detection to begin.
Automatic mode can be set using the remote control Mobil-PDi/MDi
(see section 7).
• Locked touch commands: Don’t want the user to be able to switch
the lighting off manually? In program 3, the detector can only be
switched on by short touch command.
The microphone is deactivated in all programs. It can be activated by re-
mote control (see section 7.3.6).

If none of the programs 1-4 meet your requirements, you have two options:
• Set program 5 to your requirements using the remote control. For
more information, see section 7.3.2.
• Use the remote control to modify an existing program. For more infor-
