Monsoon RS400 High-
pressure Misting System. Please read this operation manual carefully
before use and operate according to the instructions provided for
maximum safety and performance. We recommend that you keep
this manual handy for future reference.

supply cord from the transformer supplied with this unit is detachable
and must be replaced along with the power adaptor ifdamaged.

• A“driploop”showninthefigure
beside, should be arranged bythe
userforeachcordconnecting a
poweradaptortothesocket.The
“drip loop”isthepartofthecord
below the level of the receptacle,
ortheconnectorifanextensioncord
isinuse.Thisprevents waterfrom
traveling along the cord and coming
intocontactwiththesocketorpowersupply.Iftheplugorsocket
getswet,DONOTunplugthecord.Disconnectthefuseorcircuit
breaker thatsuppliespowertotheappliancethenunplugand
examineforthepresenceofwaterinthesocket.
• Toavoidinjury,donotcontactmovingorhotpartssuchaslamps,
heaters, reflectors orbulbs.
• CAUTION - Always unplug ordisconnect the appliance from
theoutletbeforeputtingonortakingoffpartsandwhilethe
equipment is being installed, maintained or handled.Never yank
thecordtopullthepoweradaptorfromtheoutlet.Graspthe
poweradaptorbodyandpulltodisconnect.Alwaysunplugan
appliancefromanoutletwhennotinuse.Neverliftthisproduct
by the supplycord.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children)withreducedphysicalsensoryormentalcapabilities,
or lack of experience or knowledge,unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use ofthe appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.Children should be supervised

Installation - Exo Terra Natural Terrariums
Follow this installation procedure to install the Exo Terra
®
Monsoon
RS400systemonanysizeofExoTerra
®
NaturalTerrarium.The
system comes with two nozzles, which should be mounted on either
glasssidepaneloftheterrariumascloseaspossibletotheopening
1. Unlockthetopscreencoverandliftitofftheterrarium.
2. Slidetheinletholes(locatedonthebackofthescreentopon
eitherside)totheopenposition,sothetubingwillfitthrough.
3. Feedthetubingthroughthefirstinletholeoneachsideonthe
back ofthe screen cover. (fig.A)

• Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use. The
use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance
manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
• Donotinstallorstoretheappliancewhereitwillbeexposedto
temperaturesbelowfreezing.Donotexposetheunittodirect
sunlight.
• Ensurethattheapplianceisplacedonaflat,evensurface.
Monitor the product regularly. Do notleave the product unattended
for extendedperiods.
• Ifanextensioncordisnecessary,ensuretheconnectionis
watertightanddustproof.Acordwithaproperratingshouldbe
used.Acordratedforlessamperesorwattsthantheappliance
rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so
thatitwillnotbetrippedoverorpulled.Theconnectionshouldbe
carried out by a qualified electrical installer.
• Indoor Household Use Only.Notfor commercialuse.
• CAUTION - Toprevent corrosion ordeterioration ofmaterials that
couldleadtoelectricshock,useonlywithfreshwater.
• Do not add any chemicals or medicinal compounds to the water
used in thisdevice.
• IMPORTANT - Pump mustnotbeallowed torun dry.

4. Mountthenozzlesinpositionontheglassportionofthe
terrarium’s sidepanelswiththesuctioncups.Makesurethat
theglassareaiscleanandfreeofanydirtordepositsbefore
mounting the nozzles. For the best results, mount the nozzles
ascloseaspossibletothefrontopeningwindowsandthetop
screen.(fig.B)
5. Direct the nozzle positions inside the terrarium so that the spray
streamwillavoidsprayingontheterrarium’sfrontandside
panels when inoperation.
6. Use the additional suction cups to neatly guide the tubing along
thesidepanelstotheinletsatthebackoftheterrarium.
7. Replacethetopscreencoverandlockitbackintoposition.

8. Closetheremaininginletsbyslidingtheslideragainstthe
tubingorwirestopreventescapefromfeedinginsectsand
smaller animals.(fig.C)
9. Removeanyslackinthetubinginsidetheterrarium.Makesure
there are nokinksinthetubing which would impede water flow
to the nozzles.Verify that the suction cups are properly attached.
13. ConnectthetubingcomingfromtheY-connectortothetopof
theunitbypressingthetubingfirmlyintotheconnectorontop
of the control unit.(fig.F)
14. Makesurethatthefilterisproperlyconnectedtothespigoton
the underside of the control unit and placed inside the reservoir.
15. EnsurethatthetopoftheMonsoonRS400unitfitstightlyontop
of thereservoir.

10. ConnectthetubingfromthenozzlestotheY-connectorby
pressingthetubingfirmlyintooneoftheside-by-sideholesas
far aspossible. Connect both nozzles.(fig.D)
11. Connect the tubing to the remaining hole of the Y-connector by
pressingitfirmlyinsideasfaraspossible.(fig.E)
12. Place the Monsoon RS400 unit on a solid, level surface.
16. Open thesmalllidontopoftheunit,andfillthereservoirwith
de-mineralized/distilledwateruptoamaximumof2,5cm(1”)
from the top rim of the transparent reservoir. (Using regular tap
waterwillcausecloggingofthenozzlesbymineraldeposits!)

17. Closethelidandconnectthepowersupplyjacktotheback
oftheunit.
18. Makesuretheunitisinitsfinaloperatinglocation,onasolid,
level surface.
19. Plugthepoweradaptorintothewallsocket,yourExoTerra
®
Monsoon RS400 High-pressure Misting system is now ready to
use.InordertoremovethetubingfromeithertheY-connector
ortheunit,pressandholdtheblueringdown,whilepullingout
the tubing. Please note that each nozzle also can be mounted in
different terrariums.

Installation - Other Terrarium Models
Refer to your terrarium’s instruction manual for instructions on how to
install equipment, wiring and tubing inside the terrarium.
1. Mountthenozzlesinpositionontheglassportionofthe
terrarium’s sidepanelswiththesuctioncups.Makesurethat
theglassareaiscleanandfreeofanydirtordepositsbefore
mounting the nozzles. For the best results, mount the nozzles
ascloseaspossibletothefrontopeningwindowsandthetop
screen.
2. Direct the nozzle positions inside the terrarium so that the spray
streamwillavoidsprayingontheterrarium’sfrontandside
panels when inoperation.
3. Use the additional suction cups to neatly guide the tubing along
thesidepanelstotheinletlocationofyourterrarium.
4. ConnectthetubingfromthenozzlestotheY-connectorby
pressingthetubingfirmlyintooneoftheside-by-sideholesas
faraspossible.Connectboth nozzles.
5. Connect the tubing to the remaining hole of the Y-connector by
pressingitfirmlyinsideasfaraspossible.
6. Place the Monsoon RS400 unit on a hard, stable, level surface.
7. Connect the tubing coming from the Y-connector to the top of
theunitbypressing thetubingfirmlyintotheopeningasfar
aspossible.
8. Makesurethatthefilterisproperlyconnectedtothespigoton
the underside of the control unit and placed inside the reservoir.
9. EnsurethatthetopoftheMonsoonRS400unitfitstightlyon
operate for 60 seconds.
• TheExoTerra
®
MonsoonRS400shouldbesetaccordingto
theneedsoftheanimalsandtothesizeoftheterrarium.Be
carefulnottooperatetheunittoofrequentlyortoolongto
avoidoverflowingtheterrarium!Theunitshouldbesetsothat
wateraddedtotheterrariumfromthefirstoperatingcycleis
allowed to evaporate before the next operating cycle begins,
oratleastmakesurethattheexcesswatercanbedrainedout
of the terrarium.
• Aftertheunithasbeensetandthecyclebuttonhasbeen
pressed on (blue cycle LED is illuminated), the unit immediately
startsit’sfirstcycle.Thenextcyclewillbegindependingon
hourlysettingofthefirstdial.Iftheunitisswitchedoff,the
cyclewillstartagainafterthecyclebuttonhasbeenpressed.In
thecase ofapowerfailure,theunitwill automatically resume
incyclemode.Thefirstcyclestartsassoonasthepower
comes backon.
• Whenthereservoirisempty,itisadvisabletorefillthereservoir
immediatelyortoswitchofftheunit.Thepumphasabuiltin
safety cut-offthatwill switch offthepump(nottheunit)when
overheated.Whenthepumpcoolsdown,itwillautomatically
switchonagain.Thisisasafetyfeature,andoneshouldnot
relyonthethermalcut-off.
Adding additional Nozzes to the system
The Exo Terra
®
Monsoon RS400 can be operated with up to 6
nozzles. Please note that every additional nozzle will result in less
performance from each nozzle installed. To connect additional

Operating instructions
• O- The Exo Terra
®
Monsoon RS400 is switched off - No blue
LED light is visible
• On- The Exo Terra
®
Monsoon RS400 is switched on - the
leftblueLEDlightisilluminatedandtheunitwilloperate
continuously.
• Cycle - The Exo Terra
®
Monsoon RS400 is in cycle mode - the
rightblueLEDlightisilluminatedandtheunitwilloperate
accordingtotheprogramsettingofthecycle andduration
controls.
• Theleft dialistosetthe“ON” cycle (in hours) oftheunit.For
example,whenthedialisseton4,theunitwilloperateevery
4 hours.
• The right dial sets the duration of each operating cycle (in
seconds).Forexample,whenthedialissetto60,theunitwill
needed(soldseparately).Simplycutthetubingwhereconvenient,
preferablyascloseaspossibletothefirstY-connector.Makesure
thenozzlecaneasilybemountedinitsintendedlocationwithout
stretchingthetubing.Connectthetubingcomingfrom theunitto
thesingleholeoftheY-connectorandtheotherendofthetubingto
the double hole. Connect the tubing from the additional nozzle to the
otherholeoftheY-connector.
Please note that additional nozzles also can be mounted in different
terrariums.
Remote Control (Optional)
Aremotecontrol(PT2496)issoldseparatelytooperatetheunit.It
also hasthe same three operation buttons (Off, On, Cycle), but the
cycleanddurationstillhavetobesetontheunititself.Theremote
control is ideal for launching additional spray sessions without
disturbingtheanimalsbyhavingtogotoneartotheterrarium.
Maintenance
Itisadvisabletoplacetheunitinadarklocationorotherwise
shieldedfromlighttopreventthegrowthofalgaeinthereservoir.
Shouldalgaeform,justwipetheinsideofthereservoirwitha
dampcloth.DoNOTusedetergentorsolventsasitmightharm
yourterrariumanimals! Makesuretodiscard anydirtywateror
water containing debris or particles. Only use de-mineralised/
distilled water or debris-free and clean rainwater! Replace the filter
regularly,atleasteverysixmonthsdependingontheusageand
water quality. If the nozzles are clogged or if they spray irregularly,
place the nozzles overnight in a 50/50 water/vinegar solution. Rinse
