Thank you for purchasing the Exo Terra®Scorpion Light. Please read
this operation manual carefully before use and operate according to
the instructions provided for maximum safety and performance. We
recommend that you keep this manual handy for future reference.

Introduction
The Exo Terra®Scorpion Light adds a whole new dimension to
keeping invertebrates. The Scorpion Light provides a soft ultraviolet
light, similar to the UV-rays reflected by the moon’s surface.
Ultraviolet light makes certain scorpions, spiders and insects glow
in the dark, it will light up certain spider webs and instigate spider
mating behavior. The UV-emitting Scorpion Light will show you a
new hidden world, and will also enhance the UV-related behavior of
your animals.
With an energy consumption of only 2W, the Scorpion Light
consumes nearly 80% less energy than a conventional night light,
and does not interfere with natural nighttime temperature drops.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should
be observed when handling the Exo Terra®Scorpion Light, including
the following:
1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
and all important notices on the appliance before using. Failure
to do so may result in damage to the unit.
2. DANGER – To avoid possible electrical shock, special care
should be taken. For each of the following situations; do not
attempt repairs yourself, return the appliance to an authorized
service facility for service or discard the appliance.
A. If the appliance falls into the water, DON’T reach for it! First

Exo Terra®Scorpion Light Installation Instructions
CAUTION:
A. The Exo Terra®Scorpion Light is for indoor, household use only.
B. Be sure that the voltage of the mains supply corresponds to the
voltage shown on the rating label of the unit.
C. Before connecting to the mains supply ensure that the cord and
the unit are undamaged.
D. WARNING Disconnect the plug of this lighting device and all
other electrical equipment used for the terrarium before placing
your hands in the terrarium and/or performing any maintenance
of any kind.
E. WARNING Whenever installing, removing or maintaining the
Scorpion Light, or any other equipment, always ensure that it is
unplugged.
F. Do not place the light unit near filter outputs or expose it to water
spray or humidity. Do not submerge in water.
Integrated into the Exo Terra®Scorpion Light is a self-adhesive
mounting bracket that will allow you to easily attach the unit onto
the terrarium.
1. Clean the outside surface of the terrarium glass.
2. With the protective backing still intact, place the mounting
bracket on the back or the side of the terrarium to determine its
final position.
3. Mark the position with a wax pencil or other marker.
4. Remove the protective backing and carefully fit the mounting
bracket within the marked area.
5. Make sure the tape is pressed evenly against the terrarium glass
and that no air bubbles are showing.
6. Press the adhesive side firmly against the glass panel for at least
30 seconds.
7. Wait a few minutes and make sure the tape is attached firmly to
the terrarium before suspending the fixture.
8. Place the LED Fixture in the mounting bracket and connect the
power supply to the fixture.
9. Simply tap the ON/OFF logo touch button to switch the UV-LED’s
ON. Touch the ONN/OFF logo touch button again to switch OFF.
Maintenance
Warning:
Disconnect the plug of the Scorpion Light, and any other electrical
equipment, used for the terrarium or paludarium before placing your
hands in the enclosure; and/or performing any maintenance of any
kind. Whenever installing, removing or maintaining the Scorpion
Light, or any other equipment, always ensure that it is unplugged.
Cleaning the Unit:
1. The Scorpion Light is not water proof. Do not expose this lighting
device to water spray or humidity. DO NOT SUBMERSE IN WATER
OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
2. No special maintenance is required for the Exo Terra®Scorpion
Light, other than periodic cleaning with a cloth (never use harsh
chemical products or detergents).
3. It is strongly recommended to always follow all the precautions
and procedures outlined in both the Important Safeguards and
Installation Instructions sections.

appliance plug or electrical outlet
getting wet, position the appliance
to one side of a wall mounted
outlet to prevent water from
dripping onto the outlet or plug. A
“drip-loop” should be arranged.
The “drip-loop” is that part of the
cord below the level of the outlet,
or the connector if an extension
cord is used, to prevent water
from traveling along the cord and
coming in contact with the outlet.
If the plug or outlet does get wet, DO NOT unplug the electrical
cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power
to the appliance, then unplug and examine for presence of water
in the outlet.
3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with significantly impaired physical or mental
capabilities, unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety. Children should always be
supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
4. To avoid injury, do not contact hot parts.
5. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use,
before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never
yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to
disconnect.
6. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use. The use
of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance
manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
7. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to
weather or to temperatures below freezing.
8. The safety of this appliance is guaranteed only provided that the
adaptor and light unit are properly installed. Ensure sufficient air
space around the fixture.
9. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating
should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the
appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange
the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.

Only close adherence of these installation, electrical and
maintenance guidelines will ensure the safe and efficient use of
this appliance.

This product is guaranteed for defects in material or workmanship
for a period of 1 year from date of purchase. The guarantee is valid
with proof of purchase only. The guarantee is limited to repair or
replacement of the product only and does not cover consequential
loss or damage of or to animate or inanimate objects. The warranty
does not cover wear and tear parts. This guarantee is valid only
under normal operating conditions for which the product is intended.
It excludes any damage caused by unreasonable use, improper
installation, negligence, tampering, or abuse of the product. The
warranty does not cover commercial use, this product is for indoor

retailer or write to the representative in your country. This guarantee
does not affect your statutory rights.

Introduction
L’Appareil d’éclairage Exo TerraMD pour scorpions ajoute une toute
nouvelle dimension à l’éclairage pour invertébrés. Il procure une
douce lumière ultraviolette similaire aux rayons UV reflétés par la
surface de la lune. Cet éclairage à rayons ultraviolets fait briller
certains scorpions, insectes et araignées dans l’obscurité. De plus, il
stimule le comportement d’accouplement chez les araignées, et fait
briller certaines de leurs toiles. Comme il émet des rayons UV, cet
Appareil d’éclairage vous fera découvrir un monde habituellement
dissimulé et fera agir vos animaux d’une façon jamais vue.
Sa consommation d’énergie n’étant que de 2 W, l’Appareil
d’éclairage pour scorpions consomme environ 80 % moins d’énergie
qu’un appareil d’éclairage nocturne habituel, et permet les baisses
de température nocturnes naturelles.

8. Dans la mesure où l’adaptateur et l’Appareil d’éclairage sont
correctement installés, cet appareil ne représente aucun danger.
Il faut assurer une circulation d’air suffisante autour de l’appareil.
9. Si une rallonge électrique est nécessaire, vérifier qu’elle est d’un
calibre suffisant. Un cordon électrique dont le nombre d’ampères
ou de watts est inférieur à celui de l’appareil peut surchauffer.
Des précautions doivent être prises afin d’éviter qu’on tire la
rallonge ou qu’on trébuche sur celle-ci.

Exo TerraMD Scorpion Light Directives d’installation
ATTENTION:
A. L’Appareil d’éclairage Exo TerraMD pour scorpions est destiné à un
usage domestique et à l’intérieur seulement.
B. S’assurer que la tension de la prise électrique est la même que
celle inscrite sur l’étiquette de l’appareil.
C. Avant de brancher l’appareil, s’assurer que le cordon électrique
et l’appareil même ne sont pas endommagés.
D. AVERTISSEMENT : Avant de se mettre les mains dans l’eau du
terrarium ou d’effectuer tout entretien dans celui-ci, débrancher
l’Appareil d’éclairage et tout appareil électrique utilisé pour le
terrarium.
E. AVERTISSEMENT : Avant d’installer, de retirer ou de nettoyer
l’Appareil d’éclairage Exo TerraMD pour scorpions, toujours
s’assurer que celui-ci est bel et bien débranché.
F. Ne pas mettre l’appareil près d’une sortie d’eau du filtre ni
à un endroit où il serait exposé à de l’humidité ou à de l’eau
vaporisée. Ne pas immerger dans l’eau.
Un support autocollant est compris avec l’Appareil d’éclairage Exo
TerraMD pour scorpions; celui-ci permet de facilement fixer l’Appareil
d’éclairage au terrarium.
1. Nettoyer la surface extérieure du terrarium en verre.
2. Sans enlever la pellicule protectrice, déterminer l’endroit définitif,
à l’arrière ou sur le côté du terrarium, où sera installé le support
de l’Appareil d’éclairage.
3. Marquer l’emplacement déterminé avec un crayon de cire ou un
marqueur.
4. Enlever la pellicule protectrice et fixer soigneusement le support
à l’emplacement déterminé.
5. S’assurer que le ruban adhésif est collé uniformément sur le
verre du terrarium et qu’il n’y a aucune bulle.
6. Appuyer fermement sur le ruban adhésif collé sur le panneau en
verre, pendant au moins 30 secondes.
7. Attendre quelques minutes et s’assurer que le ruban adhésif est
bien fixé au terrarium avant de suspendre l’Appareil d’éclairage.
8. Fixer l’Appareil d’éclairage au support et le brancher.
9. Simplement appuyer sur le bouton ON/OFF pour faire fonctionner
l’éclairage à DEL et à rayons UV, et appuyer de nouveau sur ce
bouton pour l’éteindre.

le débrancher, pour ensuite le retirer. Si des pièces électriques
de l’appareil entrent en contact avec de l’eau, débrancher
immédiatement l’appareil.
B. Examiner attentivement l’appareil après son installation. Il ne
faut pas le brancher si de l’eau se trouve sur des pièces qui ne
doivent pas être mouillées.
C. Ne pas faire fonctionner un appareil dont la fiche ou le cordon
est endommagé, qui ne fonctionne pas correctement ou qui
est tombé ou a été endommagé d’une manière quelconque. Si
le cordon d’alimentation est endommagé, il doit être remplacé
par le service de réparations autorisé du fabricant ou par un
électricien qualifié seulement.

3. Afin d’éviter que la fiche ou la prise de courant de l’appareil se
mouille, placer l’appareil à côté d’une prise de courant murale
et faire en sorte que l’eau ne s’égoutte ni sur cette prise ni sur
la fiche. Il faut former une « boucle d’égouttement ». Celle-ci
est la partie du cordon se trouvant sous la prise de courant ou
le raccord, si une rallonge est utilisée, afin d’empêcher l’eau de
glisser le long du cordon et d’entrer en contact avec la prise de
courant. Si la fiche ou la prise de courant sont mouillées, NE PAS
débrancher l’appareil. Mettre d’abord hors circuit le fusible ou le
disjoncteur qui fournit l’électricité à l’appareil, puis le débrancher
et vérifier qu’il n’y a pas d’eau dans la prise.
4. Pour éviter toute blessure, ne toucher aucune pièce chaude.
5. Toujours débrancher l’appareil lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé, avant
d’ajouter ou de retirer des pièces, et avant de le nettoyer. Ne
jamais tirer sur le cordon d’alimentation pour débrancher
l’appareil. Prendre plutôt la fiche entre les doigts, puis tirer.
6. Ne pas se servir de l’appareil pour un usage autre que celui
prévu. L’emploi de fils ou de pièces ni recommandés ni vendus
par le fabricant de l’appareil peut être source de situations
dangereuses.
7. Ne pas installer ni ranger l’appareil où il serait exposé à des
températures sous le point de congélation.
