Commode Suitability Information
Ezee Life™ rehab sho er commodes are designed to used by people ho
suffer from a variety of conditions and disabilities.
Our Non-Tilt Series (models: 150, 180, 185, 186)
These are conventional rehab commodes ith that are suitable for people ho
have sufficient upper body control to sit upright and don't have a high risk for
skin breakdo n. The flip do n arms on the 180 series ill aid the user in
maintaining posture and the seat positioning belt ill help prevent sliding out of
the seat but this series is not suitable for users lack the eakness to sit
normally or suffer from uncontrolled movements. The 180 series commodes
have a short heelbase to make them more maneuverable.
Ste s to im rove stability
1) Seat height ill have a effect on safety during standing transfers. In order
for the user to sit back as far as possible hen doing a standing transfer the
seat height can’t be too high. The optimal height ill vary depending not he
user leg length but if they can’t sit do n ith the back all the ay back against
the backrest then either the seat depth is too deep or the seat height is too
high. Since the commodes are only 18” deep the depth should;t be an issue for
most adults.
2) S ivel casters by nature have to “trail” to roll and s ivel properly. If the
caregivers ensure the casters are s ivelled and locked for ard during transfers
or hen there is a danger the user may lean for ard the chances of for ard
tipping ill be greatly reduced. By s ivelling the casters for ard you’ll probably
gain about 5” of heelbase length.
Additional Features and Attributes

prevent the feet from falling back under the commode or positioned in front of

Using a commode ith a closed front, or an open front commode seat ith an
opening insert, ill provide more support for the client and prevent thin or
