1. General information
The teach pendant is a portable controller and display unit in a robust design.
It serves for parametrizing and operating machines in conjunction with the multi-axis
controller CMXR.
By the use of a high performance processor and the Ethernet interface the teach pendant
CDSA is optimally equipped for various uses (see next chapter "Designated use of the
teach pendant“).
All uses are graphically represented on the large colour display. The touch screen enables
intuitive operating guidance.
A FLASH memory is used in the teach pendant instead of a rotating mass memory which is
not suitable for rough operating environments.
1.1 Designated use
This manual deals with the fitting and installation of the teach pendant.
The teach pendant CDSA has been designed for:
parametrizing
jogging and teaching
observation
control and
diagnosing.
A permission device and an EMERGENCY STOP switch are available as safety functions.
All safety functions are designed with two circuits, so that applications up to safety
category 3 PLdas per EN ISO 13849-1 are possible.
Warning
Teach pendants with a red and yellow EMERGENCY STOP switch,
which are not connected to a machine, must be kept out of sight so
that they cannot be confused with functioning devices in an emer-
gency case.

2. General safety precautions
The teach pendant has been developed, tested and documented with regard to the
ergonomic guidelines as well as the relevant safety standards. Providing the instructions
and technical information for the designated use are observed, the product will not in
normal cases present any danger of damage to property or injury to persons.
The instructions contained in this documentation must be followed exactly in every case.
Otherwise sources of danger may occur or the safety devices incorporated in the teach
pendant may be made ineffective.
Irrespective of the safety instructions listed in this documentation, the working safety
instructions and accident prevention rules for each individual case must be observed.
Warning
The correct project planning of the teach pendant must be carried
out by the machine manufacturer on the basis of the danger and
risk analysis. The following safety aspects must be taken into ac-
count here:
−the correct cable length for limiting the work range
−EMERGENCY STOP switch required or permitted
−safety category for the relevant application sufficient.
The device may only be operated in faultess condition and in
accordance with the operating instructions.
The user must have the necessary level of training and must be
familiar with the details of designated use.
The safety instructions in the following chapters must be
followed at all costs.
Warning
The permission button is only suitable as a protective function
when the person operating the permission button realizes in
time that there is a danger to persons and can take precautions
to avoid dangers.
As an additional measure reduced speed of the movement may
benecessary. The permitted speed must be ascertained by
means of a risk judgement.
Commands for states which bring danger cannot be initiated
with a permission button alone. A second starting command is
necesary here (button on teach pendant).
Only the person who operates the permission button may be
present in the danger zone.

2.1 General instructions
2.1.1 Using the teach pendant
You have decided to use a high value teach pendant which is eqipped with the most
modern electronics. In order to avoid malfunctioning or damage due to incorrect handling,
you must observe at all costs the following instructions for operating the device:
The connection shaft must only be opened when the supply
voltage is switched off. Otherwise components may be
damaged or undefined signal states may occur.
Make sure that nobody can trip over the cable thereby causing
the device to fall onto the floor.
Make sure that the cable is not squashed or damaged by other
objects.
Avoid laying the cable over sharp edges whereby the cable
coating can be chafed.
Hang the device on the wall fastening intended for this purpose
when it is not in use.
Make sure that the device is not laid on the operating side
whereby operating elements may be mechanically damaged.
Never lay the device on unstable surfaces or storage spaces.
It might fall down and become damaged.
Never place the device in the vicinity of sources of heat or direct
sunlight.
Avoid subjecting the device to mechanical shocks, excessive
dust, humidity or strong magnetic fields.
Do not use solvents, abrasive media or sponges for cleaning the
housing, operating panel and operating elements. For cleaning
use a soft cloth moistened with water or a mild cleaning agent.
Prevent objects and liquids from entering the inside of the
device. Check periodically the protective covers on the device,
that the housing screws are complete, that there is no damage
to the housing of the teach pendant and the cable routing.
The teach pendant CDSA is equipped with a touch screen.
Operate this with your finger or with the touch pin. The touch
screen must on no account be operated with sharp objects as
these would damage the touch screen.
2.2 Service

2.3 Important user instructions
2.3.1 Danger categories
This manual contains instructions on the possible dangers which can occur if the product
is not used correctly. These instructions are marked (Warning, Caution, etc), printed on a
shaded background and marked additionally with a pictogram. A distinction is made
between the following danger warnings:
DANGER!
… means that there is a danger of death or severe injuries if the
relevant precautionary measures are not observed.
Warning
… means that there is a danger of death or severe injuries if the
relevant precautionary measures are not observed.
Caution
… means that there is a danger of slight injuries if the relevant
precautionary measures are not observed.
Please note
means that there is a danger of damage to property if the relevant
precautionary measures are not observed.
Caution
The teach pendant is sensitive to electrostatic charges when the
connection shaft is open.
ESD
Electrostatically sensitive devices: Incorrect handling can result in
damage to components.

3. Mechanical installation
3.1 PlugIn housing CAMI-C
The PlugIn housing CAMI-C serves for integrating the teach pendant to the machine/
system and for connecting to the multi-axis controller CMXR-C1. It is fitted into the wall of
the control cabinet and has the following connections:
1 Cable screw connector for connecting
cable NESC with cables for voltage
supply, permission button,
EMERGENCY STOP and Ethernet.
2 Ethernet connection

Fig. 3.1: PlugIn housing CAMI-C
Please note
The PlugIn housing and the teach pendant comply with protection
class III as per EN 1131-2 and EN 50178. The following must be
noted in this regard:
All voltages saved in the PlugIn housing or in the teach pendant
must be low safety voltages and therefore isolated from the low
voltage network with a safety transformer or similar.

Notes on modifications to the connection shaft
When disconnecting the main plug S22, make sure that you pull the plug by its cable
(no sharp objects as aids).
When disconnecting the RJ-45 plug S4, make sure that the locking lever is not actuated.
In order to avoid functional faults, make sure that plugs S22 and S4 are inserted correctly.
Closing the rear connection shaft
1. The seal must be clean and undamaged and must be situated in the correct position in
the connection shaft cover.
2. Cables must not be squashed.
3. The connection shaft cover must be screwed into place again with all six screws
(tightening torque: 0.4 to 0.5 Nm). Only in this way will the relevant protection class be
guaranteed.
