Cleaningthecamera
Thecamerahousingandlenswillrequireoccasionalcleaning.Y oushouldcleanthelenswhen
imagequalitydegradationisnoticedorexcessivecontaminantbuildupisseen.Cleanthe
interfacebetweentheyokeandbaseoftentopreventaccumulationofdebrisorsaltdeposits.
Whencleaningthisproduct:
•DoNOTwipethelenswindowwithadrycloth,orwithabrasivematerialssuchaspaper
orscrubbrushes,asthiscouldscratchthecoating.
•DoNOTuseacidorammoniabasedproducts.
•DoNOTpressurewash.
Particularcareshouldbetakenwhencleaningthelenswindow,thishasaprotective
anti-reectivecoatingwhichmaybedamagedbyimpropercleaning.
1.Switchoffthepowertotheunit.
2.Cleanthecamerabodywithaclean,softcottoncloth.Y oucanmoistentheclothand
useamilddetergentifrequired.
3.Cleanthecameralens.
•Rinsethelenswithfreshwatertoremovealldirtparticlesandsaltdeposits,and
allowtodrynaturally.
•Ifanyspotsorsmearsremain,verygentlywipethelenswindowwithacleanmicrobre
clothorsoftcottoncloth.
•Ifnecessary,useisopropylalcohol(IPA)oramilddetergenttoremoveanyremaining
spotsormarks.

Inspectingthethermalcamera
Routinelyinspectthecameraanditsmountingsurfacetoensurethatitisinstalledsecurely,
thatthecoatedsurfacesareintact,andthattherearenosignsofcorrosion.
Whenthecameraispoweredoff,graspitrmlyatthebaseandconrmitisrigidand
secure.Thenholdthecameraabovethebaseandconrmitwillrotatefreelyandwithout
noticeablewobbleorloosenessaroundthepanbearing.

Althoughthewaterproofratingcapacityofthisproductmeetsthestatedstandard(referto
theproduct’sT echnicalSpecication),waterintrusionandsubsequentequipmentfailuremay
occuriftheproductissubjectedtocommercialhigh-pressurewashing.FLIRwillnotwarrant

FLIRequipmentandaccessoriesconformtotheappropriateElectromagneticCompatibility
(EMC)regulations,tominimizeelectromagneticinterferencebetweenequipmentandminimize
theeffectsuchinterferencecouldhaveontheperformanceofyoursystem
CorrectinstallationisrequiredtoensurethatEMCperformanceisnotcompromised.
Note:InareasofextremeEMCinterference,someslightinterferencemaybenoticedon
theproduct.Wherethisoccurstheproductandthesourceoftheinterferenceshouldbe
separatedbyagreaterdistance.
ForoptimumEMCperformancewerecommendthatwhereverpossible:
•FLIRequipmentandcablesconnectedtoitare:
–Atleast1m(3ft)fromanyequipmenttransmittingorcablescarryingradiosignalse.g.
VHFradios,cablesandantennas.InthecaseofSSBradios,thedistanceshouldbe
increasedto7ft(2m).
–Morethan2m(7ft)fromthepathofaradarbeam.Aradarbeamcannormallybe
assumedtospread20degreesaboveandbelowtheradiatingelement.
•Theproductissuppliedfromaseparatebatteryfromthatusedforenginestart.Thisis
importanttopreventerraticbehavioranddatalosswhichcanoccuriftheenginestart
doesnothaveaseparatebattery.
•FLIRspeciedcablesareused.
•Cablesarenotcutorextended,unlessdoingsoisdetailedintheinstallationmanual.

Suppressionferrites
•Cablesmaybepre-ttedorsuppliedwithsuppressionferrites.Theseareimportantfor
correctEMCperformance.Ifferritesaresuppliedseparatelytothecables(i.e.not
pre-tted),youmusttthesuppliedferrites,usingthesuppliedinstructions.
•Ifaferritehastoberemovedforanypurpose(e.g.installationormaintenance),itmustbe
replacedintheoriginalpositionbeforetheproductisused.
•Useonlyferritesofthecorrecttype,suppliedbythemanufactureroritsauthorizeddealers.
•Whereaninstallationrequiresmultipleferritestobeaddedtoacable,additionalcableclips
shouldbeusedtopreventstressontheconnectorsduetotheextraweightofthecable.
•Ifyourcamerainstallationrequireslongcableruns,youmayneedtotadditionalferrites
tomaintainacceptableEMCperformance.

TheM300Seriessinglepayloadvariantisamaritimecameraequippedwitheitheravisibleor

Thecamerawillhaveoneofthefollowingtypesofimagingcore,dependingonthechosen
model:
•Visible—providesaclearcolorimageindaylightconditions.Forexample,avisible
cameracanhelpyoumaintainawatchofyoursurroundings,orzoominondistantobjects.
