INSTALLATION
Important Safety Rules:
Thisappliancemustonlybeusedinawellventilated
area.
1. Thisapplianceshallnotbeinstalledorusedindoors,
inbuildings,garagesoranyotherenclosedarea.
2. DO NOT place articles on or against this appliance.
3. DO NOTuseorstoreammablematerialsnearthis
appliance.
4. Childrenandadultsshouldbealertedtothehazards
ofhighsurfacetemperatures,burnsandclothing
ignition.
5. Childrenshouldbecarefullysupervisedwhenthey
are in the area of the appliance.
6. NEVER hang anything including clothes or other
ammableitemsontheappliance.
7. DO NOT operate this appliance unless it is fully
assembledwithguardsandreectorinplace.
8. DO NOT SPRAY AEROSOLS IN THE VICINITY OF
THIS APPLIANCE WHILE IT IS IN OPERATION.
9. Certainmaterialsoritems,whenstoredunderornear
theappliancewillbesubjectedtoradiantheatand
couldbeseriouslydamaged.
10.Anyguardorotherprotectivedeviceremovedfor
servicingmustbereplacedpriortooperatingthe
appliance.
11.Theguardisttedtothisappliancetoreducetherisk
ofreorinjuryfromburnsandnopartofitshouldbe
removed.
12.Installationandrepairshouldbedonebyaqualied
serviceperson.Theappliancemustbeinspected
beforeuseandatleastannuallybyaqualiedservice
person.Morefrequentcleaningmayberequiredas
necessary.Itisimperativethatcontrolcompartment,
burnersandcirculatingairpassagesoftheappliance
andlightbekeptclean.
Priortoassemblingyourappliance,thefollowingmustbe
reviewed.Compliancewiththefollowingshouldresultin
satisfactory appliance operation. This instruction manual
shouldberetainedforfuturereference.Theinstallation
mustconformwithlocalcodesorauthorityhaving
jurisdiction.
1. The appliance is intended for residential and
nonresidential outdoor spaces. The installation must
conformwithNewZealandStandard5601“Gas
Installations”.
2. Adequate clearance around air openings into the
combustionchamber,clearancesfromcombustible
materials,provisionsforaccessibilityandfor
combustionandventilatingairsupplymustbe
maintainedatalltimeswhentheapplianceisoperating.
3. Properclearancefromcombustiblematerialsmustbe
maintained at all times. The minimum clearances are
found on page 3.
Combustiblematerialsareconsideredtobewood,
compressedpaper,plantbres,plastic,plexiglasorother
materialscapableofbeingignitedandburned.
Suchmaterialsshallbeconsideredcombustibleeven
thoughameproofed,re-retardanttreatedorplastered.
Additionalclearancemayberequiredforglass,painted
surfacesandothermaterialswhichmaybedamagedby
radiantorconvectionheat.
4. Theappliancemustbelocatedonasolidtablewhich
shouldbesituatedonalevelandadequatefooting.
Timbertablesarerecommended.
5. Thegasmanifoldsupplypressuremustberegulated
at2.75kPautilisinganapprovedregulator(supplied
withappliance).
6. Theappliancemustbeinspectedbeforeeachuse,and
atleastannuallybyaqualiedserviceperson.
a. Theapplianceareamustbekeptclearandfreeof
combustiblematerials,gasolineandotherammable
vapoursandliquids.
b. Gasoricesandburnermustbekeptclearofdirt
andcobwebs.Flowofcombustionandventilationair
through the perforated portions of the appliance
mustnotbeobstructed.Cleaningwithasoftbrush
beforeuseandatleasteverysixmonthsis
recommended.
c. Allgasconnectionsshouldbecheckedforleaks
utilising a soap solution. NEVERuseaameforthis
purpose.
d. Theamepatternattheemittergridshouldbe
visuallycheckedwhenevertheapplianceisoperated.
Ifamesextendbeyondsurfaceoftheemittergrid
orblacksootisaccumulatingontheemittergridor
reector,theapplianceshouldbeturnedoff
immediately.Theapplianceshouldnotbeoperated
againuntiltheunitisservicedandorrepaired.
e. Anycleaningagentusedontheapplianceshouldbe
ofanon-combustibleandnon-corrosivenature.
Warmsoapywaterisideal.Whilewashingthe
appliance,besuretokeeptheareaaroundthe
emittergridandignitionassemblydryatalltimes.If
thegascontrolisexposedtowaterinanyway,do
NOTtrytouseit.Theapplianceshouldberegularly
cleaned and protected to reduce oxidation, ideally a
covershouldbeusedwhennotinuse.
g. The emitter grid normally does not require cleaning
andshouldNEVERbepainted.Thereectormaybe
cleaned,butneverpainted.
7. Thehoseassemblyshouldbeproperlylocatedoutof
pathwayswherepeoplemaytripoverit.Thehosemust
beprotectedfromcontactwithhotorsharpsurfaces
bothduringuseandwhileinstorage.Thehose
assemblyshouldbevisuallyinspectedpriortoeachuse
oftheappliance.Ifexcessiveabrasionorwearis
evident,orthehoseiscut,itmustbereplacedpriorto
operating the appliance. The replacement hose
assemblymaybeobtainedfromthedistributor.
