INSTALLATION
Important Safety Rules:
Thisappliancemustonlybeusedinawellventilated
area.

satisfactory appliance operation. This instruction manual
shouldberetainedforfuturereference.Theinstallation
mustconformwithlocalcodesorauthorityhaving
jurisdiction.
1. The appliance is intended for residential and
nonresidential outdoor spaces. The installation must
 conformwithNewZealandStandard5601“Gas 
Installations”.
2. Adequate clearance around air openings into the
 combustionchamber,clearancesfromcombustible 
 materials,provisionsforaccessibilityandfor 
 combustionandventilatingairsupplymustbe 
 maintainedatalltimeswhentheapplianceisoperating.
3. Properclearancefromcombustiblematerialsmustbe
maintained at all times. The minimum clearances are
found on page 3.
Combustiblematerialsareconsideredtobewood,
compressedpaper,plantbres,plastic,plexiglasorother
materialscapableofbeingignitedandburned.
Suchmaterialsshallbeconsideredcombustibleeven
thoughameproofed,re-retardanttreatedorplastered.
Additionalclearancemayberequiredforglass,painted
surfacesandothermaterialswhichmaybedamagedby
radiantorconvectionheat.
4. Theappliancemustbelocatedonasolidtablewhich
 shouldbesituatedonalevelandadequatefooting.
 Timbertablesarerecommended.
5. Thegasmanifoldsupplypressuremustberegulated
 at2.75kPautilisinganapprovedregulator(supplied
 withappliance).
6. Theappliancemustbeinspectedbeforeeachuse,and
 atleastannuallybyaqualiedserviceperson.
 a. Theapplianceareamustbekeptclearandfreeof
  combustiblematerials,gasolineandotherammable
  vapoursandliquids.
 b. Gasoricesandburnermustbekeptclearofdirt
  andcobwebs.Flowofcombustionandventilationair
through the perforated portions of the appliance
  mustnotbeobstructed.Cleaningwithasoftbrush
  beforeuseandatleasteverysixmonthsis 
recommended.
 c. Allgasconnectionsshouldbecheckedforleaks
utilising a soap solution. NEVERuseaameforthis
purpose.
 d. Theamepatternattheemittergridshouldbe 
  visuallycheckedwhenevertheapplianceisoperated.
  Ifamesextendbeyondsurfaceoftheemittergrid
  orblacksootisaccumulatingontheemittergridor
  reector,theapplianceshouldbeturnedoff 
  immediately.Theapplianceshouldnotbeoperated
  againuntiltheunitisservicedandorrepaired.
 e. Anycleaningagentusedontheapplianceshouldbe
  ofanon-combustibleandnon-corrosivenature.
  Warmsoapywaterisideal.Whilewashingthe
  appliance,besuretokeeptheareaaroundthe 
  emittergridandignitionassemblydryatalltimes.If
  thegascontrolisexposedtowaterinanyway,do
  NOTtrytouseit.Theapplianceshouldberegularly
cleaned and protected to reduce oxidation, ideally a
  covershouldbeusedwhennotinuse.
g. The emitter grid normally does not require cleaning
  andshouldNEVERbepainted.Thereectormaybe
  cleaned,butneverpainted.
7. Thehoseassemblyshouldbeproperlylocatedoutof
 pathwayswherepeoplemaytripoverit.Thehosemust
 beprotectedfromcontactwithhotorsharpsurfaces
 bothduringuseandwhileinstorage.Thehose 
 assemblyshouldbevisuallyinspectedpriortoeachuse
 oftheappliance.Ifexcessiveabrasionorwearis 
 evident,orthehoseiscut,itmustbereplacedpriorto
operating the appliance. The replacement hose
 assemblymaybeobtainedfromthedistributor.

10.Thisapplianceisdesignedtooperatewithastandard
 9KgLPGcylinderwithApprovedCylinderConnection.
11.Thevalveoutletmustbemaintainedingoodcondition.
 Whenthecylinderisnotinuse,besuretocoveritwith
 adustcap.Aleaktestshouldbeperformedwithsoapy
 waterwheneverconnectinganewcylinder.NEVER use
 aametotestforleaks.
12.TheLPGcylindermustbeturnedoffwheneverthe
 applianceisnotinuse.Whentheapplianceistobe
 storedindoors,theLPGcylinderandtheappliancemust
 bedisconnectedandthecylinderstoredinaccordance
 withLPGDangerousGoodsRegulations.
13.Storetheapplianceuprightinanareashelteredaway
 fromweatherconditions.Theuseofacoveris 
recommended.
SAFETY FEATURES
Theappliancehasbeendesignedwithseveralsafety
featureswhichincludeatipoverswitchandaame
safeguardsystemwhichmeansifthepilotgoesoutitwill
automatically turn off.
Regulator Safety Feature
AllQCCregulators(thepartthatattachestothegas
cylindertoregulatetheowofgas)haveasafetyfeature
includedthatrestrictsgasowintheeventofagasleak.
Youcaninadvertentlyactivatethissafetyfeaturewithout
havingagasleak.Thistypicallyoccurswhenyouturnon
thegasusingtheappliancecontrolknobbeforeyouturnon
thegascylindervalve.Ifthegasregulatorsafetyfeature
activates,theappliancewilloperatewithreducedoutputas
gasowisrestricted.
Thesestepsshouldbetakenrsttoresetthegasregulator
safetydevice:
1. Turngascylindervalveoff.
2. Turn appliance off.
3. Disconnect the regulator from the gas cylinder.
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. Reconnect the regulator to the gas cylinder.
6. Leaktesttheconnectionusingasoapywatersolution.
 Ensurenobubblesappearbeforeproceeding.
7. Slowlyopenthegascylindervalvealltheway.Donot
 putexcessiveforceonthevalveatthefullopen 
 position,toavoiddamagingthevalve.
8. Lighttheapplianceaspertheinstructionsprovided.
Anymodicationtotheappliancenotdescribedinthe
installation instructions may compromise the safety of this
appliance.Specialconcernisasfollows:
 (1)DO NOTbypassthermocouplesafetyburner;
 (2)DO NOToperateappliancewithouttheguardsor
   reector;
 (3)DO NOTshortenpostlength;

GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Connecting & Disconnecting to Gas Source
IMPORTANT: Before connecting and
disconnectingappliancetogassource,make 
  surecontrolknobisin‘OFF’position.
CAUTION: When the appliance is not in use, the
  gasmustbeturnedoffatthecylinder.
Familiariseyourselfwiththegeneralinformationandsafety
guidelines located at the front of this manual.
Check:
1. Thecylinderislled.Asloshingsoundwillbeheard
 whenshaken.
2. Thecontrolknobisinthe‘OFF’position.
Connecting
1. Ensurecylindervalveisinitsfulloffposition.
2. Checkforanydamagetoeitherthecylinderconnection
 orthehose.NEVERattempttousedamaged 
equipment.
3. When connecting the hose to the cylinder tighten the
 nuttoapositivestopbyhand.
4. Opencylindervalvefully.Ifaleakcanbeheardat 
either end of the hose turn cylinder off and tighten
 joint.Wait5minutesbeforere-testinganduseasoapy
 watersolutiontocheckthejoint.Ifbubblesappearthe
 connectionwillneedtobere-tightened.
Refer to page 6 for more detailed instructions on connecting
the appliance to the cylinder.
Disconnecting
1. Ensuretheburnercontrolisinthe‘OFF’position.
2. Ensurecylindervalveisinthefulloffposition.
Forstorageandcylinderexchange,disconnecthoseatthe
cylinderonly,DONOTdisconnecthosefromappliance.

STEP 1
Attachthecontrolhousingandbase
with4pcsM5x12bolts.
STEP 2
Attachamescreentothebaseof
burnerusing3/16”boltsandwashers.
STEP 3
Fixthesafetyguardbyinsertingthe
shankstothenotchesontheburner
base.
STEP 4
Securethereectorwith3pcswashers&3pcscastlenuts.
STEP 5
Connect the gas hose to the heater - see instructions on the
next page.

STEP 6
Ensure cylinder valve is in its full off position. Check
for any damage to either the cylinder connection or
the hose. NEVER attempt to use damaged equipment.
Attach the regulator and hose to your gas cylinder.
Tighten the nut to a positive stop by hand.
STEP 7
Turn on the gas cylinder ensuring that the control knob
on the outdoor heater is turned OFF at this point.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIGHT THE HEATER!!.
STEP 8
Use a solution of soapy water (dishwashing liquid and
water is fine). Brush it on or use a spray bottle as
shown in the drawing. Ensure the connections have a
good coating.
STEP 9a
If the connection is leaking, bubbles will start to grow
in the soapy solution. If this happens shut off the gas
supply at the cylinder.
STEP 9b
Tighten the connections using a crescent then repeat
steps 7-8.
STEP 9c
The connection is gas tight when no bubbles grow
around the gas connection.

LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. TurnthecontrolknobOFF.Slowly
 openthegascylindervalve.

 anti-clockwiseto“PILOT”position 
 for30secondswhilstsimultaneously
 pushingtheigniterseveraltimes 
 untilthepilotameignites.Keep 

at least one minute to purge air through to pilot after
connectiontoanewcylinder.
Manual Lighting
Ifthesparkignitorfails,theburnercanbeignitedwitha
match.Wait5minutesforanyunburntgastoclearthen
turncontrolknobto“PILOT”.Placelitmatchthroughhole
atbaseofemittergridandatthesametimedepressthe
igniterseveraltimesuntilthepilotameignites.Keepthe
controlknobpressedfor15secondsthenturnthecontrol
knobtoLOW.FormaximumheatturncontrolknobtoHIGH.

SAFE APPLIANCE LOCATIONS
Thisapplianceshallonlybeusedinanabovegroundopen-airsituationwithnaturalventilation,withoutstagnantareas,
wheregasleakageandproductsofcombustionarerapidlydispersedbywindandnaturalconvection.
Any enclosure in which the appliance is used shall comply with the following:
Anenclosurewithwallsonallsides,butatleastonepermanentopeningatgroundlevelandnooverhead
cover(seeExample1).
Withinapartialenclosurethatincludesanoverheadcoverandnomorethantwowalls(seeExample2&3).
Within a partial enclosure that includes an overhead cover and more than two walls, the following
will apply:
atleast25%ofthetotalwallareaiscompletelyopen,and
atleast30%oftheremainingwallareaisopenandunrestricted(seeExample4&5).
In the case of balconies, at least 20% of the total wall area shall be and remain open and unrestricted.

SAFE APPLIANCE LOCATIONS
This appliance shall only be used in an above ground open-air situation with natural ventilation, without
stagnant areas, where gas leakage and products of combustion are rapidly dispersed by wind and natural
convection.
Any enclosure in which the appliance is used shall comply with one of the following:
An enclosure with walls on all sides, but at least one permanent opening at ground level and
no overhead cover (see Example 1).
Within a partial enclosure that includes an overhead cover and no more than two
walls (see Example 2 & 3).
Within a partial enclosure that includes an overhead cover and more than two walls,
the following will apply:
at least 25% of the total wall area is completely open, and
at least 30% of the remaining wall area is open and unrestricted (see Example 4 & 5).
In the case of balconies, at least 20% of the total wall area shall be and remain open and unrestricted.
The following figures are diagrammatic representations of outdoor areas. Rectangular areas have been used in these
figures - the same principles apply to any other shaped area.
