Power Assistant and Scan on Battery Guide

The battery protects system data for a limited amount of time
in the event of inadvertent AC power loss.
Options:
Power Assistant-system power is maintained by the battery
when AC power is lost or the power cordis unplugged.
Reduces the start up time for portable exams. The system will
run up to 20 minutes after AC power is disconnected.
Scan on Battery (Option on LOGIQ E10s only)-allows the
user to scan using battery power (AC unplugged). With a fresh
battery that is fully charged, the LOGIQ E10s stays powered
for approximately 50 minutes.
Note: Detailed battery function and service information is outlined
in the Basic User Manual.

DO NOT perform the following while in PA
Mode:
üConnect and disconnect probes
üDisconnect peripheral devices, such as the
Volume Navigation unit
üEject or insert CD/DVD media or external
USB storage devices
To Enter Power Assistant (PA)-Remove the
power cord from AC power while the system is on.
Before unplugging the power cord and starting
PA, if you are performing any of the following
actions, ensure that they are complete:
•Any export, input, or “Save As” to external
media, such as CD, DVD, USB
•DICOMⓇRetrieve from Query/Retrieve
•DVR recording should be stopped
•Exit Volume Navigation by Exit and Clear if
you are using Volume Navigation
PA
Flashing lights indicate the battery level is LOW
•Flashing operator panel lights are meant to notify
the user that the battery charge level is low. They
will begin to flash when the charge level is at 40%
and lower. The user should consider this a visual
clue to plug into a power source as soon as
possible.
•If the charge level of the battery falls below 20%,
the operatorpanel lights will increase the
frequency of flashing and the system will prepare
for shutdown.

Power Assistant Tips and Tricks
1. The system is not designed to boot up while using the battery, it must be plugged into a power
source prior to boot up.
2. The system cannot scan or perform post processing while in PA.
3. When entering PA the system brightness and backlighting will dim/stop.
4. In PA, the system will run for up to 20 minutes and a “Running on battery” messaging will temporarily
appear at the bottom of the monitor.
5. When in PA mode, most of the console devices, such as the keyboard and printers are turned off to
minimize battery usage.
6. When the system is not in use, plug it into a power source to recharge the battery.
7. If an operation was interrupted, the system displays a notification letting you know which operations
were not completed successfully. In this case, you will need to redo the operation that was
interrupted: Export, Import, Query Retrieve, etc.

Charging the Battery
The standard/extended battery is charged automatically
when the system is connected to the wall outlet via
the power cord and the circuit breaker is turned on. The
battery will charge if the system is powered on or off.
Viewing Current Battery Status
Click on the battery icon located in the status bar.
Note: If you do not see the battery icon in the status bar then the
battery option is not available on your system.
Detailed battery information will display in the pop up
which includes the battery’s current capacity.

Recommendation: Plug into AC power
when possible, using the Scan on
Battery can impact battery life.

Starting Scan on Battery-When the power cord is
unplugged from AC power, the system automatically
transitions to Scan on Battery mode.

•Do not use Scan on Battery mode when
you need to import/export/transfer
patient data-Using AC power is strongly
recommended in these instances.
•The system can unexpectedly shut down
if the battery power is too low resulting
in patient data loss.
Note the message in the status bar when
Scan on Battery is activated. “System is using battery
power. Make sure the battery has enough capacity
to prevent potential data loss.”
Switch to Power Saving Mode
The system switches to Power
Saving Mode automatically when
the capacity is low. You can switch
to Power Saving Mode by selecting
“Switch to Power-Saving Mode” in
in the battery status pop-up at any time.
Note: to return to Scan on
Battery mode, press the power
button or the freeze button.

It is strongly recommended to
connect to AC power when the
fuel gage icon is yellow or red.
Battery Charging
Whether the system is on or off, the battery will
charge as long as the system is connected to AC
power via the power cord, and the breaker is on.
A fan will run while the battery is charging. The fan
will stop when the battery is done charging.
While the battery is charging
the front LED will blink. When
the battery is fully charged the
LED will stop
blinking and
remain on.

Refresh Procedure:
1. Plug the AC cord to the wall outlet and turn on the circuit
breaker.
2. Wait until the battery is fully charged. This takes about 2.5 hours
to fully charge the battery (depending on the remaining battery
capacity).
3. Wait at least 1 hour.
4. Remove all probes.
5. Turn on the system.
6. Unplug the AC cable, letting the system run on battery until it
automatically shuts down. It may take 30 minutes (Power
Assistant Battery)/ 50 minutes (Scan on Battery) to complete
shut down.
7. Wait at least 5 hours.
8. Plug the AC cable to the wall outlet and turn on the circuit
breaker.
9. Wait until the battery is fully charged. It takes about 2.5 hours to
fully charge the battery.
Refreshing the Battery –helps maintain the battery life and accuracy of the fuel gauge and
helps to avoid unexpected shutdowns. Recommended every 6 months.
Battery Deterioration
When the system detects battery deterioration
the following message appears.
If this Message appears, the LOGIQ E10s disables both
the Power Assistant and Scan on Battery.
