methods in Germany. In our team we are working on the development of safe and reliable testing

2. Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the Goldanalytix GoldScreenCard. The Goldanalytix
GoldScreenCard is an easy, fast to use and non-destructive testing device for the determination of
the electrical conductance of precious metal mouldings. Primarily this device was developed to
test the authenticity of precious metal coins without a blister or a capsule, but with restrictions
you can use it also for the determination of small ingots made from silver, platinum or palladium.
The Goldanalytix GoldScreenCard software as an intuitive analysis tool allows to reliably display
and classify the results. The measured values can be compared to value ranges shown in the
graphical display of the software, which are deposited in the library. This allows a fast and
unequivocal statement within seconds without any need of interpreting the results.
Please read these operating instructions carefully prior to the first use in order to use the
GoldScreenCard properly.

3. Scope of Supply
Your GoldScreenCard set is delivered with the following elements:

4. Measurement Principle
The GoldScreenPen utilises the electrical conductance of metals for its measurement principle.
Every metal exhibits a characteristic conductance value, which enables the identification of
falsifications. Due to similar densities, the most used metals for falsifications like tungsten, lead or
tantalum usually differ significantly in their conductivity compared to precious metals or gold
alloys.
The patented, inductive testing method uses low-frequency, electromagnetic alternating fields,
whose penetration depth depends on the applied frequency and the electrical conductance of the
testing sample. The frequency of the GoldScreenPen was adjusted in a manner, that all kinds of
coins are pervaded. Devices currently available exhibit low penetration depths allowing the
determination of layers near to the surface only. Cores of tungsten or tantalum covered with thick,
galvanically plated metal layers can not be identified reliably with those devices.
The sensor technology as well as the evaluation unit is situated inside the compact casing of the
device. The GoldScreenCard can be connected to a computer via the integrated USB cable. The
signals can be evaluated and compared to reference values of the library included in the software
„Goldanalytix_SW“ which is purchased on the USB flash drive. Depending on the weight of the

coin (e.g. Krugerrand 1 oz vs. ½ oz) different values can arise, although having the same
conductance, due to the high penetration depth of the GoldScreenCard. That´s why the software
differentiates between single coin types.
5. Safety Instructions for optimal Measurement Conditions
The highly sensitive sensor technology and the evaluation unit are stored in the housing of the
GoldScreenCard. Therefore, please be aware of the following hints while performing
measurements:
Please ensure that the GoldScreenCard does not touch any metallic object or lies on a
metallic surface during the measurement because this might lead to inaccuracies of the
measurement.
Do not use the testing device in the presence of explosive gases, vapours or dust or in wet
environment.
Please operate the device at room temperature and not in proximity of heat sources (e.g.
fan output of your laptop). The measured values are temperature dependant and
linearised by best fit algorithms, but the best accuracy is achieved at room temperature.
Please ascertain that the GoldScreenCard as well as the coins feature the same
temperature, because big temperature difference affects the sensor technology in a
negative manner. The temperature dependency is particularly pronounced among silver
coins

6. Operation and Display Elements
The operation elements of the GoldScreenCard are displayed in Figure 1 and Table 1. The
GoldScreenCard is ready to use after connecting it to a computer via the integrated USB cable and
starting the Goldanalytix software.

7. Installation of the Goldanalytix Software
Before you are able to use the GoldScreenCard you have to install the Goldanalytix software via
the purchased USB flash drive as well as the driver.
Therefore, please connect the USB flash drive with your computer and start the installation
process by double-click on the install file „Goldanalytix_Install_Win7.8“ or
„Goldanalytix_Install_Win10“. The install assistant leads you through the setup.
Please note: The install package consists oft wo parts. After having installed the software the
driver will automatically be installed. The driver is necessary for the proper function of the device.
The driver will be installed according to your operating system (Win 7, 8, 10).
Please confirm the following windows for the standard install package. The program usually is
installed in the Windows program folder. If you wish another folder we recommend to change the
directory manually. Afterwards, the install process of the driver will start automatically (CP210x
USB to UART Bridge).

After installation you will the software in the start menu: [Start]\Programs\Goldanalytix_SW as
well as on the desktop (as icon, when you did not deselect this option during the installation
process). The software will automatically start after installation. In case of the GoldScreenCard is
not being recognized, please exit and restart the software.

8. Description of the Goldanalytix Software
Please be aware that you can use the GoldScreenCard in its full range of functions only with the
purchased Goldanalytix software. Operating without the program package is not possible. On the
one hand, the software graphically displays the measured values in a diagram, on the other hand,
it offers access to the library containing conductance values. On the basis of deposited reference
values of the library one can check the authenticity of the test specimen.
After starting the software and successful connection of the GoldScreenCard with your computer
the software interface will appear showing the status report "Device Connected" (②,see Figure
4).
