Anchor by Guardian Fall Protection
Operating instructions for the Angel Anchor:
1. Always follow all requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations.
2. The Angel Anchor must be inspected by a competent worker before each use.
3. Inspect the device for physical damage. Look carefully for any signs of cracks, dents or
deformities in the metal, welded joints or loose fasteners. Have a qualified person thoroughly
inspect all components at regular intervals.
4. Ensure that no parts are missing or damaged. (i.e. locking pin, fasteners, labels, etc.)
5. Ensure that all weights are firmly attached.
6. Confirm that the anti skid pads on underside of weights are fully attached and in good condition.
7. Verify if the roof structure is capable of resisting load of anchor, user and equipment. There
should be no tears in the anti skid pad and it should have an abrasive surface at all times that
resembles sand paper. If this surface is compromised, please contact Guardian for replacement
skid pads.
8. Always make sure the surface on which the Angel Anchor is used is free of any obstruction or
debris to ensure proper installation and operation.
9. If inspection reveals a defective condition, remove unit from service immediately.
10. Always calculate the fall distance and ensure that a clear, unobstructed distance is provided
from the point to which the worker is attached.
11. Develop a rescue plan establishing what to do if a fall were to occur.
12. Equipment must be used by trained personnel only.
13. Never use the Angel Anchor for anything other than what it was designed.
14. Always use safety related shock absorbing lanyards no longer than 6 feet.
15. Always wear a full body harness at all times when using this device.
16. Never attach more than one worker to the Angel Anchor.
17. Do not alter the Angel Anchor in any way. Doing so will cause all approvals, guarantees and
warrantees on the device to become void.
18. Any unit which has been involved in a fall should not be sued and removed from service
immediately.
19. Should any question, concern, etc. about the use, installation, operation, etc. of the Angel
Anchor arise, please consult the manufacturer first. Safety of the worker should not be
compromised by any means.

DISABILITY OR DEATH MAY RESULT.
The Angel Anchor is a movable, portable anchor safety device that can be used on various
roofing surfaces with a standard lanyard or self retracting lanyard by any trades requiring fall
arrest safety equipment. The Angel Anchor is used in tying off when working at or near the edge
of a roof and is designed to be used conjunction with a full body harness and lanyard to
maintain a 100% tie off at all times.
The Angel Anchor system has been designed and manufactured to the standards as outlined in
EN795: 1996 Class E relating to dead weight anchors. Testing and certification of the system
was conducted by:

TRAINING:
Note: OSHA requires the worker be trained in the use of personal protective equipment before
using the equipment.
•All users of this equipment must be familiar with these instructions and trained in the
correct installation, use, care and maintenance of the equipment.
•An employer must train a worker using the equipment in the use of fall protection
equipment and give the worker oral and written instructions in a language he or she
understands.

•An employer must verify that the worker has been trained by preparing a written
training record containing the name of the employee trained, the date(s) of training and
the signature of the person who conducted the training.
•If an employee exhibits actions that prove they did not understand the provided
training, they must be re-trained.
Placement
When positioning the Angel Anchor onto a roof surface, be sure to sweep away any loose debris
or material that may become between the roof surface/anchor point of contact. (This is
particularly important when working on surfaces with an inconsistent surface due to the
possible ball-bearing effect of loose material.) DO NOT USE ON WET, ICY, GREASY OR ANY
SLIPPERY SURFACES.
On a flat roof ensure that the Angel Anchor is a minimum of 8 feet (2.5m) from the edge of the
roof.
The minimum height of the building when using this unit as a fall arrest system is 13 feet (4m).
If the building is less than 13 feet (4m), a fixed length lanyard should be used to prevent falling
off the roof.

When used on an industrial steel clad roof up to 15 degree pitch, the anchor must be placed on
the opposite pitch to the user at a minimum of 8 feet (2.5m) from the ridge.
Assembly:
1. Locate the position of the Angel Anchor, ensuring that no part of the anchor is less than 8
feet (2.5m) from any edge, roof opening, etc. Also, ensure that the roof area is free from
loose debris, oil, algae, etc.
2. Carefully place the central frame of the unit onto the selected roof position.
3. Arrange the twelve (12) weighted pads around the frame, placing two pads at the end of
each frame member, anti skid side down. The skid material resembles sand paper.
4. Ensuring that the collar end is facing towards the center of the unit, slide a weighted pad
onto one of the sic (6) frame members through the collar ¾ of the way down the tube.
5. Slide a second weighted pad on the same frame member. Verify that the collar is
completely on the frame member.
6. Align holes on the frame and collar, then insert and connect wire locking pin.
7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 for the remaining weighted pads.
8. Connect the fall protection device to the anchor point provided.
