1.02 Purpose and Use
The Purpose of This Manual
This manual describes the standard model with a maximum lifting height of
34” (864 mm) and a minimum lifting height of 5” (127 mm).
Use
Type LP4 is designed for permanent installation indoors or outdoors.
The lifting platform can be used in temperatures ranging from -20C/-68F to
+40C/+104F degrees. In temperatures of less than -20C/-68F degrees, it is
recommended that suitable heating be applied underneath the platform.
LP4 is designed and produced in accordance with current standards for
negotiating height differences. LP4’s lifting interval can be adjusted between
heights of 5 inches to 34 inches, depending on local conditions.
Type LP4 can be used to negotiate height differences when wheelchair ramps
are too long or steep, and when an elevator is impractical, impossible or too
expensive. Access and drive-off are at opposite ends of the lifting platform.
For the safety of the user, the access ramp acts as a gate, and there are
handrails on both sides of the LP4.
In use in public environs where the lifting platform is subject to a certain
degree of supervision, it is recommended that the lifting platform be locked so
that it is protected against unintentional use or games.
The lifting platform is expected to be used by users who have been instructed
in its operation, or by skilled personnel making use of this aid/tool.

1.03 Important/Warnings
• Please read all the operating instructions before using the product.
• The LP4 must be assembled by the Guldmann™ Service Team, or by an
authorized representative.
• The accompanying “locking pole“ must be used when the service engineer
moves around underneath the lifting platform.
• MAX. load 250 kg/550 lbs. must not be exceeded.
• The lifting platform and access ramp must be swept clear of gravel, fallen
leaves, snow, etc., before use.
• The lifting platform is intended for transporting people, and must be used in
accordance with the instructions given in this manual.
• A simple and usable emergency procedure must be established between user
and caregiver to ensure that the user does not get trapped on the platform in
the event of electrical or mechanical failure.
1.04 Unpacking and Preparation
Visual Check
If the packaging is damaged on receipt, carefully inspect all parts of the LP4
visible deciencies, defects or faults. If damage is suspected, the LP4 must
not be used before it is authorized by the Guldmann Service Team or a quali-
ed representative.

1.05 Safety rules when assembling/servicing lifting platform
Caution!
There is a danger of being crushed between the platform’s movable parts
when working under the platform.

Therefore, the following safety rules MUST be followed:
1. The safety chain/strap must always be used when working under the plat-
form.
2. The lifting platform must NOT be raised or lowered while working under the
platform, even when the safety equipment is assembled.
3. Once the platform is assembled and connected so that it can be raised and
lowered, only one person may work on it at a time.
Safety equipment
When working under the platform, the
safety chain/strap MUST be used.
The safety chain/strap is tted between
the special safety eyelets on the scissors
or the two central tubes of the scissors
(see picture). Once the chain/strap has
been tted, lower the platform until the
chain is taut, i.e. until the traction wheel
“releases“ the curve.
1.06 Assembly
The LP4 and the safety gate must be assembled by the Guldmann Service
Team or authorized representative.
Caution!
The platform must not be activated before railing, ramp and end cover are
installed.
Mounting of the railing
1. In both sides of the safety edge there is a lock mechanism for the railing.
2. The railing should be placed on both lock mechanisms and be fastened inside
the safety edge with a 13 mm open end wrench.
3. Check that the railing is rm.
Mounting of the ramp
1. Position the ramp at the opening of the
safety edge. Unscrew the top nut (1),
and install and fasten the chain.
2. Fasten the ramp to the hinges (2) on
either side, and check that it can be
moved up and down easily
3. Install the end covers at the end of the
safety edges and test the functions of
the lifting platform.

Hand switch
1. Hang the hand switch on the railing.
2. Connect the plug to the corresponding female plug in the safety edge.
3. Tighten the nut and switch on the power.
Transformer
1. Insert the round female plug into the corresponding male plug at the back of
the lifting platform.
2. Switch on the mains to turn on the power.
1.07 Assembly – Recessed Lifting Platform
If the lifting platform is recessed, it must be assembled by the Guldmann™
Service Team or by an engineer authorized/instructed by Guldmann™. The
assembly must follow the mounting drawings/assembly instructions.
The assembly instructions shall be given to the engineer by the manufacturer
or the distributor.
2.00 Description of Functions
2.01 Labels
(to be placed on the lifting platform).
2.02 Operation
The lifting platform is operated by means of a hand control with a spiral cord,
allowing each user freedom of position. The lifting platform is logical and
unproblematic to use and operate, even with no prior knowledge.

Raising the lifting platform from the lower level
1. When the platform is at the lower level and the access ramp has been low-
ered to that level, the wheelchair user can drive onto the platform without
hindrance.
2. Activate the hand control by pressing »1« to raise the access ramp which
functions as a guard against rolling off. Button »1« remains active as long as
it is held down.
3. Once the access ramp is completely raised, continue to press »1« which will
raise the platform.
4. Once the lifting platform is at the correct level it stops automatically, and the
user can exit.
Lowering the lifting platform from the upper level
1. The wheelchair user drives onto the lifting platform.
2. Activate the hand control by pressing »2« to lower the lifting platform. Button
»2« remains active as long as it is held down.
3. Once the lifting platform has reached the lower level, continuing to press »2«
will lower the access ramp, and the user can drive off the lifting platform.
2.03 Safety Functions
Important!
Consideration should be given to an emergency summoning system. In case
of emergency, one or more persons should be appointed to be responsible for
helping with the correct use of the lifting platform. The person(s) responsible
should always be available in the event of an emergency.
It is recommended that users who are particularly dependent on the LP4 pur-
chase a battery backup – see under Accessories.
Description of emergency stop device
The emergency stop must only be used in the
event of an emergency. If the emergency stop is
used because of a dysfunction, the dealer must
be contacted before the LP4 is used again.
The emergency stop (1) is located in the center
of the safety edge. It stops all movement when
activated.
N.B. Pull the emergency stop button, and press briey twice on the hand con-
trol button to restart the LP4.

Description of Mechanical Emergency Lowering – Lifting Platform
The emergency lowering should only be used in the event of an emergency.
The emergency lowering should be deactivated after use. This requires quali-
ed assistance. The dealer must be contacted before the LP4 is used again.
In order to be able to use the emergency lowering, great attention and mobil-
ity are required, which is why the person responsible for the use of the lifting
platform should be summoned.
The person responsible must have read the
manual, so that he/she can be sum-
moned to assist a user at any
time.
The platform is lowered
by carefully turning the
Allen screw situated in
the oor of the lifting plat-
form, until the platform
starts to descend.
Description of Emergency Lowering
– Access Ramp
The access ramp is tted with a bolt in
the actuator. Unscrew this bolt and the
access ramp will open up. The position of
this bolt can be seen in illustration (1).
Important!
The access ramp will no longer be
attached when the bolt has been
removed from the access ramp. Hold the
access ramp rmly when removing the
bolts.
Safety curtain
Ensures that no one can get in underneath the lifting platform, when it is at
the upper level and thereby risk getting caught when the lifting platform is
lowered. The safety curtain is mounted from the factory.
Installation of safety curtain.
1. One piece of the velcro of the safety curtain is mounted on the upper and
lower plate of the lifting platform at the factory.
2. Place a broomstick or similar object through the scissors construction across
the platform.
3. Put the safety curtain over the upper plate and leave it on the broomstick with
no contact to the platform.
4. Press the velcro on top of the safety curtain rmly together with the velcro
placed underneath the upper plate, starting with the corners opposite to the
access ramp end.
5. Press the velcro on top of the safety curtain rmly together with the velcro
placed underneath the upper plate at the corners of the access ramp.

6. Remove the broomstick.
7. Press the velcro at the bottom of the safety curtain rmly together with the ve
cro on the lower plate of the platform.
Safety cut-out function:
If anyone or anything gets caught
under the platform when it is lowered,
the descent will stop as soon as the
safety cutout function is activated.
The safety function is reset by press-
ing the »é« button and removing the
object that activated the safety cutout
function.
2.04 Accessories
Battery Backup
Guldmann recommends a battery backup if the area is subject to power
outages. In the event of a power failure, the battery backup will provide the
power, and all functions will be active.
Important!
It is important that an indicator lamp is tted, and that this is always visible
when the LP4 is tted with a battery backup. The lamp will show that the
power is on.
Extra control panel
Extra control panels with »é« »ê« function buttons, for mount-
ing on the wall. The control panel is also available with key
lock.
Remote control, infrared
For use with one or more independent users, the remote con-
trol allows users to control the lifting platform without being
dependent on a helper.
Important!
Make certain that the user always has the remote control within
reach.

3.00 Dismantling and Transportation
3.01 Transportation
The LP4 can be taken apart for ease of transportation and storage;
lifting platform, railing and access ramp.
3.02 Packaging During Transportation
Guldmann recommends that the LP4 always be transported in its original
packaging.
4.00 Maintenance and Storage
4.01 Cleaning
The LP4 can be cleaned with a sponge or brush and mild soap and water.
The LP4 may be sprayed or showered with normal water pressure, it may not
be rinsed under high pressure. Acids, bases and solvents should never be
used for cleaning.
4.02 Storage
No special requirements.
4.03 How to Avoid Corrosion?
The LP4 is made from corrosion-resistant materials, and does not require fur-
ther corrosion prevention.
4.04 What Maintenance is required by the Owner?
Cleaning as required.
5.00 Service and Useful Life
5.01 Useful Life and Servicing
The LP4 must be inspected by an authorized representative at least once a
year. Call to schedule service.
The LP4 has an expected useful life of 15 years with regular daily use.
The lifting actuator must be exchanged after 10,000 lifts according to the
built-in electrical software.
After this period, the LP4 should be assessed by an authorized representative
before further use.
This calculation of useful life is based on the proper use, cleaning and main-
tenance of the lifting platform, and annual inspection and maintenance by an
authorized representative.

Spare parts lists and drawings can be ordered from the manufacturer or the
distributor.
5.02 Inspection – All-round
Important!
The accompanying safety chain/
strap MUST be used when a service
engineer is working under the lifting
platform.
A log should be updated annually
after the service inspection. Parts,
which are worn or defective should
be replaced with new spare parts
from Guldmann.
1. Visual check of the product
• Check the product for signs of wear and tear.
• Check the product for any faults.
• Check for any other type of damage or wear to the product.
2. Testing of the product.
• Check all the product’s functions, loaded and unloaded.
• Check that the emergency lowering works.
3. Testing of the electrical elements of the product
• Check electrical functions and signals.
• Check the wiring for faults and defects.
• Check the cable bushings.
• Check connection options connectors, etc.
• Check the seal on the control box.
4. Checking the mechanical operation of the product
• Clean dirt and other impurities from the product.
• Inspect and assess vital parts of the product.
• Replace any parts of the product, which are defective or worn.
• Check and fasten all vital parts.
• Lubricate the product.
5. Go through point 2 again, to check that everything functions
6. Did any new problems arise/were new problems noted in point 5?
• If new problems arose, go back to point 2.
• If no new problems were noted, conclude the inspection.

5.03 Trouble Shooting
1. Is the plug from the main network in the socket?
• Put the plug in the socket.
2. Is the socket switched on?
• Switch the socket on.
3. Is there power in the socket, the fuse may have blown?
• Check the fuses and change the fuse if necessary.
4. Is the emergency stop activated?
• The emergency stop is released by turning the switch until it springs up.
5. Can the lifting platform go up but not down?
• Clean any impurities from the safety nosing strip.
• Check the safety nosing strip for other blockages.
6. Are the plugs connected between the source of power and the platform?
• Connect the plugs.
If the above points do not solve the problem, please contact an authorized
representative, the Guldmann Service Team or your distributor.

Please read the entire warranties chapter before use.
B. WARRANTIES
Stepless lifting platform LP4 is designed to lift wheelchair users or walking-
impaired over height differences up to 34”. LP4 is approved by TüV up to 20”
but it is possible to adjust the lifting platform to 34”.
If the product is used in any fashion or in an irresponsible manner or for any
use other than that described above or in the enclosed written instructions,
the manufacturer’s warranty will be nullied and rendered void.
There are no warranties, which extend beyond the description in the enclosed
written instructions.
Guldmann warrants that its lifting equipment is free from defects in materials
and workmanship under normal use. Guldmann warrants that the lifting equip-
ment itself will perform substantially in accordance with the specications set
forth in the documentation provided with the equipment.
The above express warranties are made for a period of 365 days from the
date the lifting equipment is delivered to you as the rst user.
Your distributor will replace any lifting equipment, which proves defective in
materials or workmanship, without additional charge, on an exchange basis.
Your distributor will either replace or repair without additional charge any
Guldmann lifting equipment that does not perform in substantial accordance
with the specications of the documentation.
Guldmann does not warrant that the functions contained in the lifting devices
will meet your requirements or that the operation of the services will be unin-
terrupted or error-free. The warranty does not cover any of the parts of the
lifting equipment, which has been subject to damage or abuse by the owner.
The warranty does not cover any part of the lifting equipment, which has
been altered or changed in any way by the owner. Guldmann is not respon-
sible for problems caused by changes in the operating characteristics of the
operating system which are made after the delivery of the lifting equipment.
Any implied warranties including any warranties of merchant ability or tness
for a particular purpose are limited to the term of the express warranties.
Guldmann shall not in any case be liable for special, incidental, consequen-
tial, indirect or other similar damages arising from any breach of these war-
ranties even if Guldmann or its agent has been has been advised of the pos-
sibility of such damages.

You must call Guldmann or your distributor for an authorization to return any
defective item during the warranty period. If your distributor is unable to cor-
rect your problem by telephone, you will be provided with a return authoriza-
tion number and address for returning the defective item for warranty service
or replacement. You must insure any defective item being returned because
Guldmann does not assume the risk of loss or damage while in transit.
The warranties set forth above are in lieu of all other express and implied
warranties, whether oral, written or implied, and the remedies set for above
are your sole and exclusive remedies. Only an authorized ofcer of
Guldmann may make modications to this warranty, or additional warranties
binding on Guldmann. Accordingly, additional statements such as advertis-
ing or presentations, whether oral or written, do not constitute warranties by
Guldmann and should not be relied upon as such. The warranty gives you
specic legal rights, and you may also have the other rights which vary from
state/country to state/country.
