and read the following instructions and information
completely. Please keep these instructions in a safe place
for future reference. If you sell the device, please pass
these operating instructions on to the new owner.
1. Explanation of warning symbols and notes

This symbol is used to indicate safety instructions or to
draw your attention to specic hazards and risks.
Note
This symbol is used to indicate additional information or
important notes.
Risk of electric shock
This symbol indicates a risk of electric shock from
touching uninsulated product parts that may carry
hazardous voltage.

3. Safety instructions
•The product is intended for private, non-commercial use
only.
•Do not use the product in areas in which electronic
products are not permitted.
•Protect the product from dirt, moisture and overheating
and use it in dry rooms only.
•As with all electrical products, this device should be kept
out of the reach of children.
•Do not drop the product and do not expose it to any
major shocks.
•Do not operate the product outside the power limits
given in the specications.
•Keep the packaging material out of the reach of children
due to the risk of suffocation.
•Dispose of packaging material immediately in
accordance with the locally applicable regulations.
•Do not modify the device in any way. Doing so voids the
warranty.
•Use the product only for the intended purpose.
•Do not use the product in the immediate vicinity of
heaters, other heat sources or in direct sunlight.
•Do not use the product in a damp environment and
avoid splashing water.
•Only use the article under moderate climatic conditions.
•The battery is integrated and cannot be removed.
•Do not open the device or continue to operate it if it
becomes damaged.
•Do not incinerate the battery or the product.
•Do not tamper with or damage/heat/disassemble the
batteries/rechargeable batteries.
Risk of electric shock
•Do not open the device or continue to operate it if it
becomes damaged.
•Do not attempt to service or repair the product
yourself. Leave any and all service work to qualied
experts.
4. Charging the battery
Warning - rechargeable battery
•Only use suitable charging devices or USB ports to
charge the product.
•Do not use defective chargers or USB ports and do not
attempt to repair them.
•Do not overcharge the product or allow the battery to
completely discharge.
•Avoid storing, charging and using in extreme
temperatures and at extremely low atmospheric
pressures (such as at high altitudes).
•When stored over a long period of time, batteries
should be charged regularly (at least every three
months).
•The product contains a rechargeable battery.
•Fully charge the product once before using it for the rst
time.
•Connect the supplied USB-C charging cable to the USB-C
connection (11) on the product.
•Connect the free plug on the USB-C charging cable to a
suitable USB charger. To do this, consult the operating
instructions for the USB charger you are using.
•The actual battery life will vary depending on how you
use the device, the settings and the environmental
conditions (batteries have a limited life).

Note – charging procedure
•A complete charging cycle takes about 8 hours.
•The product's battery can be charged both when it is
switched on and off.
5. Setup
Note - optimising reception
•At the initial start-up, the system interface will ask
about the preferred language. Select your preferred
language.
•A station search in DAB operating mode is
automatically started when you switch the radio on for
the rst time.
•Please note:
Always pull the antenna out completely.
We recommend you adjust the antenna vertically to
ensure optimal reception.
5.1 Mains operation
Warning - mains operation
•Disconnect the product from the power supply using
the On/Off switch – if this is not available, unplug the
power cord from the socket.
•If you will not be using the product for a prolonged
period, disconnect it from mains power.
•Connect a suitable USB power pack to the right side of
the radio using a USB-C cable (11).
•Connect the power pack to a properly installed and easily
accessible mains socket.
•Wait until the radio has initialised fully.
•Press [NAVIGATION/OK/VOLUME] (7) to switch on the
radio.
5.2 General notes on use
Notes on use
•If a choice from various buttons is to be made (such as
Yes or No), the button currently selected is indicated
with Colour.
•In menus offering a variety of different options (such
as EQ, Language and so on), the currently selected
option is marked with .
Navigation and controls
[VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) has a dual function:
•Turning [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) in the menu
allows you to select individual menu items.
•Pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) conrms
your selection.
Press [BACK] (6) to return to the previous menu level.
Volume adjustment
Turning [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) increases /
reduces the volume.
Additional information
Press [INFO](5) to display additional information. The
information shown depends on the operating mode as well
as the radio station, music le, etc.
•Description
Indicates the radio station, the current programme,
contents, subjects, etc.
•Programme genre/country
Indicates the genre (music style) and the country or
region of the station.
•Bit rate
The currently received digital bit rate of the received
station is displayed.
•Codec
Species the encoding scheme used to digitise the data
or signal such as MP3 or WMA.
•Sampling rate
Species the sampling rate, or the frequency with which
the audio signal is polled (sampling / sample rate) within
a certain period of time.
•Playback buffer
The signal strength of the received station is displayed
via a bar and its length.
•Today’s date
•Time
•Error rate
•Service not available
Is displayed if there is currently no DAB reception.

5.3 Switching on/off
Switch On / Off / Standby (mains operation)
•Press [ ] (7) to switch the radio on.
•Press [ ] (7) for approx. 1 second to switch the radio off.
(Standby)
Switch On / Off / Standby (battery operation)
•Press [ ] (7) for approx. 3 seconds to switch the radio
on.
•Press [ ] (7) to switch the radio off.
Note
•If the radio is switched off completely when in battery
power mode, timers that have been set will no longer
be taken into account.
5.4 Initial setup
When you switch the radio on for the rst time, the
station search is started automatically in DAB operating
mode. English is the default language for the radio’s menu
structure.
Set up your desired language as described in 5.5.
Language.
5.5 Language
To change the menu language from that selected at rst-
time startup, proceed as follows:
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the "Language" menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
•Select your preferred system language by turning
[VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Conrm this by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE]
(7).
6. DAB
The radio receives all established digital radio frequencies
in the range of 174 MHz to 240 MHz (band III, channel
5A to 13F).
•Press [MODE] (5) repeatedly to activate DAB operating
mode on the radio.
6.1 Search / Automatic search
The automatic DAB channel search scans the DAB band
III for available stations. After the station search, all
interference-free stations are saved in alphabetical order.
The automatic DAB station search starts automatically
when DAB mode is started for the rst time; it is indicated
by Scanning… and a status bar on the display.
If you would like to start the search again, proceed as
follows:
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the “Search” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
6.2 Station list
You can call up the station list in DAB mode at any time.
There are two options for doing this.
a)
•Press [BACK] (6) and then navigate through the station
list by turning [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Select your preferred station and conrm your selection
by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
b)
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the “Station list” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
•Select your desired station by turning [VOLUME/
SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
6.3 Edit station list
To remove stations that are not currently in the reception
area from your station list, proceed as follows:
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the “Empty” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
If you answer Yes, then all currently unavailable stations
will be removed from the station list.
6.4 Favourites
You can save up to 30 of your favourite stations for quick
and direct access.
6.4.1 Save favourites
•Set the station that you would like to save to a presets
memory slot.
•If the station is playing, press and hold for 3 seconds [
].
•Switch between the station presets by turning [VOLUME/
SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7) to save the station to the desired
favourite station preset.

6.4.2 Retrieving favourites
Press [ ] to open the overview window with the list of
saved stations.
•Navigate to the desired station preset by turning
[VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Select one of the favourites by turning and pressing
[VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
Note
•Presets cannot be deleted.
•If all 30 station memory slots are lled and you wish to
save a new station, choose one of the occupied slots.
The station in this slot will be overwritten with the new
station.
7. FM
After pressing [MODE](5) repeatedly, activate FM
operating mode on the radio:
7.1 Search setting
The search setting allows you to determine whether
stations with low signal strength are ignored during the
automatic search.
Proceed as follows:
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the “Search setting” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
•Select your desired setting by turning and pressing
[VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Select Strong stations onlyto stop only on stations
with a strong signal in the automatic search. Otherwise
(All stations), the search will stop at every station for
which a signal is received.
7.2 Automatic station search
•Press [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to start the
automatic station search.
•The radio stops the search and starts playback when it
nds a station.
•Pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) again stops
the search. And the frequency currently shown on the
display is played.
7.3 Favourites
You can save up to 30 of your favourite stations for quick
and direct access.
7.3.1 Save favourites
•Set the station that you would like to save to a presets
memory slot.
•If the station is playing, press and hold [ ] on front of
the radio for 3 seconds.
•Switch between the station presets by turning [VOLUME/
SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7) to save the station to the desired
favourite station preset.
7.3.2 Retrieving favourites
Press [ ] to open the overview window with the list of
saved stations.
•Navigate to the desired station preset by turning
[VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
Note

8. AUX IN
AUX IN mode allows a cabled connection
to be established between another audio source
and this device. The volume can be controlled via this
radio.
All other operations are carried out
via the connected audio source.

9. Bluetooth
When Bluetooth mode is enabled for the rst time, the
radio is immediately in "Pairing mode" and visible to
other devices. You can therefore pair the radio with your
smartphone, for example, and begin transmitting from the
relevant source device. If the radio has already been paired
to a smartphone, the next time Bluetooth mode is enabled,
the connection is automatically established.
10. More settings
10.1 Sleep
The radio has a timer function which switches
the radio to standby mode after a pre-dened
length of time.
Proceed as follows:
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the “Sleep” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
•Select your desired setting by turning and pressing
[VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
10.2 Time/date system settings
The time and date can be set either manually or obtained
from various sources
(DAB/FM). The time and date format can also be set.
10.3 Audio equaliser
Here you can select from pre-dened equaliser settings for
the device or make your own settings.
10.4 Lighting
You can adjust the display brightness in On mode (Low/
Medium/High).
A timer can be set for standby. After which time (10 sec
/ 20 sec / 30 sec / 40 sec, etc.), the brightness should be
dimmed slightly as soon as the device is in standby mode.
Alternatively, the brightness in Standby mode can be set
so that the display is equally bright in On mode and in
Standby mode.
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate
to the “Lighting” menu item. Conrm your selection by
pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
•Now select the desired setting and conrm your selection
by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7).
10.5 Factory reset
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the “Factory settings” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
Conrm the following prompt with Yes to reset the radio to
the factory default settings.
All settings made previously are deleted.
Note
•Resetting to the factory default settings can remedy
some problems and malfunctions.
•However, all settings made previously, such as
favourites and the station lists, are permanently
deleted.
10.6 Info / software version
To have the radio display information about its software,
proceed as follows:
•Press [SETTINGS] (4) to access the Settings menu.
•Turn [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] (7) to navigate to
the “System version” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [VOLUME/SELECT/
NAVIGATE] (7).
11. Care and maintenance
Note
Disconnect the device from the mains before cleaning
and during prolonged periods of non-use.
•Only clean this product using a lint-free, slightly damp
cloth and do not use any harsh cleaners.
•If you do not plan to use the product for a prolonged
period, turn off the device and disconnect it from the
power supply. Store it in a clean, dry place away from
direct sunlight.
12. Warranty disclaimer
Hama GmbH & Co KG assumes no liability and provides no
warranty for damage resulting from improper installation/
mounting, improper use of the product or from failure to
observe the operating instructions and/or safety notes.
