lifesaferandeasier,andwe’veincludedthismanualtohelpyouuseandcareforit.Pleasereadthefollowinginstructions
tomakesureyouusethisproductasrecommended.Ifyouhaveanyfurtherquestions,orifyouhaveanyproblems,please
contactyourhealthcareprovider.
WehopethatSHARKYmeetsyourexpectations.
Wereservetechnicalmodicationsregardingthespeciedmodelinthismanual.Beforeusingthewheelchairthersttime,
thismanualhastobereadandunderstoodbypatientandsupportpersonnelinodertoensureasafehandlingwiththe
toiletwheelchair.
2.2Application
TheSHARKYtoiletwheelchairforchildrenisusedforindooranddailyuseinwetareas.Itisusedbychildrenand
youngpeoplewithadecitintheareaof sittingdownandstandingupforindividualuseindailycare/hygieneorin
toilettraining.Variousbasesguaranteenumerouspossibleusessuchasuseasatoiletchair,toiletseat,bathtubinsert
ormobilepositioningoptionsfordailypersonalhygiene.
Assistancemayberequireddueto:
-Paralysis(paraplegia/tetraplegiaorparesis)
-Lossoflimbs(dysmelia/lowerlimbamputation)
-Infantile/spastic cerebralpalsy

TheHOGGIGmbHasmanufacturerwithsoleresponsibilitydeclaresthatthetoiletwheelchairSHARKYconformstothe
requirementsofthe93/42/EECGuidelines(consideringalsothemodicationsofMDD2007/47/EG).
Applicableharmonizedstandardshavebeenapplied.
2.4 Terms of warranty
Warrantyappliesonlywhentheproductisusedaccordingtothespeciedconditionsandfortheintendedpurposes,
followingallmanufacturer’srecommendations.

HOGGIpointsout,thatanyusebesidethetypicalusecanbedangerous.Thetoilet
wheelchairisnotsuitableforjogging,running,skatingorsimilaractivities.Swivelling
frontwheelstendtowobbleathigherspeed,whichcancauseasuddenstopandtip
overofthewheelchair.
Usethetoiletwheelchaironlyatregularwalkingspeed.Undernocircumstances
leavethehandlebarwhilepushingandneverpushthetoiletwheelchairaway.

andunpredictablesituationscanbecoveredbythismanual.Reason,careand

usethewheelchairorattendit.Theperson,whoisusingthewheelchairandits

wheelchaironeven,straightforwardterrainrst,togetherwiththechild.Together
withthechild,learnhowthewheelchairreactswhenthecentreofgravityshifts;for
exampleonslopesorinclinesorwhenclearingobstaclessuchasstepsandcurbs.
Thisshouldbedoneonlywithassistancefromanotherperson.Usingananti-tipis
stronglyrecommendedforinexperiencedwheelchairusers.

Theproductshouldonlybeusedonsolidlevelground.
Useyourtoiletwheelchairasintendedbythemanufacturer.Forinstance,donot
driveintoobstacles(includingsteps,curbs)withoutbraking.Donot„jump”the
chairdownfromhighersurfaces.fe).
Payincreasedattentiontodrivingupanddowngradients.
Specialattentionshouldbepaidtothechildfallingout,thetoiletwheelchairtipping
overorrollingaway.
Thetoiletwheelchairshouldbeliftedonlybytouchingtightenpartsoftheframe.
Thetoiletwheelchairshouldonlybeparkedonhorizontal,levelsurfaces.Ifyouhave
toparkonaslope,facethewheelchairuphillwiththebrakesengagedandensure
thattheseatisintheuprightposition.Thereisariskthatthewheelchairmighttip
overbackwardsiftheseatisthereclinedposition.
Beforeleavingthewheelchairandbeforegettingintoandoutofit,alwayslockthe
wheellocks.
Makesurethatyourchilddoesnotleantoofaroutofthetoiletwheelchairwhen
grabbingobjects(whichareinfrontof,tothesideorbehindthetoiletwheelchair),
astheshiftinthecenterofgravitycausesatiltingorthereisariskofrollover.
Pleasekeeppackagingmaterialawayfromchildren.Plasticpackagingpresentsthe
dangerofsu󰀨ocation.
Neverleaveyourchildunattendedinthewheelchairevenwhentheyarestrappedin
andthebrakesengaged..
Bothfoldinglocksmustbeengagedbeforeuse.
Staticstabilityis>10,5°inclination.
Attachingheavybagsorotherweighttothepushhandlescanadverselya󰀨ectstability.
Whenadjustingthebackincline,theseatandkneeanglewiththechildintheseat
unit,payparticularattentiontothedangerofclampingforthechildbystretchingarms
orlegsoutintomovingparts.

MaximumloadSHARKY:60kg.
Accessoriesandadd-onsreducethemaximumloadproportionately.
Protrudingstrapendsoftheaccessorypartscouldjamintheseatangleadjustment
mechanismandpreventthelockingboltsfromengaging.
Theseatcouldthenadjusttheseatangleduringuse.
Forthisreason,shortenthebeltendsofaccessoriessothattheycannolongerget
intotheseatangleadjustmentmechanism.Afterputtingtheseatuniton,checkwitha
jerkontheseatwhetherthelockingboltsareengaged.
AllupholsterypartsareameretardantandmeettherequirementsofEN1021Part1
(cigarettetest)and2(matchtest).However,thisdoesnotprotecttheuserintheseat
unitfromburnscausedbycarelesshandlingofembersoropenre.
Don´tusethefootresttogetintoandoutofthewheelchair.
Thetoiletwheelchairisonlyapprovedforusebyonechild.
Disposalofwaste:Thepackagingmaterialasfarasmetal,aluminiumandplastic
partscanberecycled.Therecyclingmustbeoperatedaccordingtothenationaland
legalterms.
Loadtheventralupperbodysupportwithamaximumof5kg.

Wheneveryouchangeanysettingsonthewheelchair,makesurethatyourmly
tightenanyscrewsthathavebeenloosened.
Checktheconditionoftheproductifthepackagingisdamaged.
Becarefulincaseofextremetemperatures.Thewheelchaircanheatupsignicantly
wheninthesunorinthesauna.Inextremecold,thereisariskofhypothermia.
Slowingdownfromhighspeedsorwhendescendinglongerslopestendstoheat
upthehandsandngers,especiallyifusingaluminiumpushrings.Whenusingthe
wheelchairoutdoors,leatherglovesshouldbeworn.Glovesprovidethewheelchair
userwithabettergripandprotecthisorherngersfromdirtandhotmetal.
